I was excited to try a new sushi place and after reading the reviews I was set on trying the surprise roll. Shrimp tempura and asparagus inside, salmon tuna 3 types of fish egg eel sauce and wasabi sauce on top and it was abysmal. The shrimp tempura was soggy, cold and not fresh. The host did inform me afterwards that all the shrimp tempura was fried in the morning. It's 1pm now. I tried eating the fish on top and that wasn't any better or fresher. I ate two pieces and paid $18 for the single roll and left very hungry. The roll looks delicious but was not tasty and the sushi rice tasted like regular rice. I ate my 6 gyoza but reminded me of frozen gyoza and wouldn't have finished them if my roll was any good. Very disappointing lunch, especially for $25.85 . read more

What would normally be at least a three star review turned into a one star stinker because they committed the cardinal sin, terribly bad service. I ordered one hurricane roll and the miso soup, the Mrs had the chicken teriyaki. The soup came out and it was ok but nothing special. My wife's dish came out and she liked the flavor although some of the chicken was a bit tough. Over thirty five minutes after she got her entree my lonely roll came out. I wasn't that upset about it until I noticed a diner that came in three tables after me had received their full order before I got mine. Be patient with restaurants! I called in my order on Saturday evening and knew to expect a long wait time, but then I was sure to be hungry by the time my order was ready. The wait was about an hour and 20 minutes. I think the gentleman at the counter was taking calls, ringing up tickets, and serving. The sushi was fresh and delicious. The sushi, apps and Japanese entrees are consistently fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. They source top quality sushi here - so if you are happy with grocery store sushi or think AYCE sushi places are great, your mind will be blown by the flavors and skill of sushi chef owners Rok and her husband Ocha. My favorite rolls are the Surprise roll, Sarah roll, Meme roll, and No Name roll. The Sake Don (salmon sashimi over rice) is so fresh and there are too many nigiri to mention, but my faves are salmon, white tuna (escolar), baby scallops & wasabi tobikko. Also, be sure to try the teriyaki tofu app and the grilled squid app. I can't say enough good things about this family run business. They are so welcoming. A rare and slight exception is their fairly new male waiter who can be very curt on the phone and hasn't learned the finer points of politely seating people for dine in. The tables were well spaced. The woman who served us was super sweet and took great care of us. My daughter got the pork gyoza and chicken fried rice. She loved them! My son got a bowl (I can't pronounce!) with rice, micro greens, and fresh fish. He was so happy with his choice. I got the seaweed salad and shared some sushi rolls with my husband. I want to start this review off by stating that the service my wife and I received here at this restaurant was absolutely perfect.... The food however was not good at all. The tea was incredibly bland as looked like barely tinged water. The seaweed salad was covered in far too much oil while having very little flavor. My fried shrimp tempura roll was very clearly micriwaved. All of this stuff it nitpicky and preference based but our last complaint is just unacceptable. The rice used in all of our sushi rolls wasn't properly seasoned. There was no rice vinegar in any of the rice. The tuna and salmon was a bit too oxidized making me wonder how long it had been out of proper storage but fish color can vary quite a bit and not be a proper reflection of the freshness. Overall, I'll never be back here again. There were just way too many things that went wrong with my dinner that there isn't just one thing I can say would change my opinion of this restaurant. read more

Crazy Sushi is kind of a diamond in the rough, it sits back off of Mid Rivers Drive in a small strip mall. If you didn't pay attention you could easily pass by it without realizing it. This is a bad restaurant. I wish I had something good to say, but I don't. My meal was consumed in the restaurant, with two other people in our party, on a Thursday night where there were perhaps five other checks running at the same time. The sushi quality was poor - there was no attention to the rice, which had a consistency closer to my morning Rice Krispies than the warm, vinegary rice you expect at a serviceable sushiya. The wait for food after ordering was interminable. We ordered a lot of sushi and the restaurant insisted on bringing the whole sushi order out at once (presumably to make a show out of it using a boat servicing implement) rather than bringing food out as it was ready (the server declined our request to bring the sushi as it was ready). We probably waited 30-40 minutes for the sushi after we ordered (we did get miso and salad relatively quickly). It was overpriced. I have no problem spending money for sushi as long as it is quality sushi. I wasn't expecting top notch quality at this particular establishment, but the combination of poor quality and high prices is unacceptable. This experience may be acceptable for a suburban neighborhood restaurant for some, but if you have tasted good sushi or been to a well-run restaurant, you will be disappointed. read more

The sushi was very good. My wife and I ordered several different sushi offerings and none of them disappoint. The stand outs were the Spider Roll (soft shell crab) and the baby scallop hand roll. The presentation of the sushi was also very nice. The waitress was very helpful and attentive. The decor of the restaurant was clean and welcoming. Also I have to mention the tempura. It was amazing. Granted the first two can be further divided into price buckets, but I'll keep it simple. Crazy Sushi, in spite of the name, is on the more "traditional" end of the spectrum. No crazy spicy rolls, or weird combinations (mango tuna?). It's straight-forward sushi, sashimi, negiri. But it's great.
