In the past, I would rate their food as slightly better than average, however, not so on my last visit, which was this past Saturday about 5 o'clock, so it was early the restaurant was not that busy. I have had their Gerald towels, chicken and orange chicken a number of times and it was always fairly good this time however, when the waitress brought the jaw tall ticket to me, I said it could use a little bit more sauce. Could you bring me out a little more because it was a bit skimpy compared to what I've had in the past, she came back a few minutes later and said I will have to charge you four dollars if you want more and I said forget about it and I went on to tell the manager before I left that the four of us will never be back there again in my if something restaurants always I repeat always go out of their way to make small corrections to make sure that there is consistency and that the food is as it should be, it would've probably cost them $.50 to bring me out a third of a cup more but for that they've lost and many of dollars going bad judgment on their part also to finalize this time the iceberg was mushy. This place never disappoints!! The food is fantastic. The service is friendly. The AYCE is worth the price. One of our favorite spots in town. Just tried the cranberry salmon roll....one of the best sushi rolls I have ever eaten, definitely worth a try!!! Their soda machine was unfortunately down, so we opted for just waters which sucked. The options were limited, and the quality was just OKAY. The St. Louis roll though was pretty good and my favorite. I was surprised they did not have any Yellowtail (hamachi) which is my favorite fish. We waited about 10 mins on a Friday night and my goodness was it worth it! I've never been to This location but i've been to the ofallon one and I love it. I got the shrimp habachi with fried rice and my boyfriend got the dinner special. I got a lemon drop (which was surprisingly delicious) and my boyfriend got a beer. They proceeded to let their older child watch videos on his iPad without headphones. It was not a pleasant meal. If the child had headphones it would have been a pleasant meal. This is one of our favorite restaurants. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and checks with us often. Tonight our server was Erica. She could not have done her job any better. The food, as always, was wonderful. I had General Tso, and my wife had Udon noodles. Both dishes could not have been prepared any better. I also had the Gyoza dumplings. I am 77 years old, and have eaten at many Asian restaurants. These dumplings are the best I have ever tasted. The servings were plentiful, as we brought 1/2 of our dinner home. Sushi Ai is great value if you are looking for an AYCE sushi spot. The ordering process is easy, and the dinner menu comes with a lot of different options for rolls and appetizers. My favorites were the St. Louis and Volcano roll. The sweet honey cream cheese was unique and a good touch to the dish. However, the one bad part about the meal was all of the fried dishes or parts of a roll came out soggy. Next time, I would avoid getting anything fried and stick to other options. Besides that, everything was delicious. Furthermore, the restaurant was very clean and not too busy for a Sunday night dinner. My partner went to the one in Clayton and Maryland Height before, but he liked this location more, in term of the quality and variety. I couldn't believe it was aloud in the restaurant. I think this is unsanitary as dogs can shed, also some people could be allergic. I'm so disappointed. I love dogs and I guess if it was a service animal that may warrant an exception but this clearly was someone's pet. I have celiac disease, I pretty much only eat at sushi restaurants because of the possibility of cross-contact with bread products at other restaurants. They have a specific spot for to go and pick up orders., based on what I ordered, one roll and seaweed salad the wait was a min of 30 minutes. Good grief. Calling this sushi has GOT to be a sin. It is edible, but it's not like anything you'll find at any other typical sushi place. All of the "sauces" supposedly on the rolls (kewpie mayo, sriracha, honey, wasabi, eel sauce, etc.) are in some kind of jelly-like minced crab or tempura flake brick of paste layered heavily on top of the roll. The wasabi packets included in my take out meal were oily and sticky, not like any wasabi paste I've had before. The pickled ginger was also in a packet , which was just unusual. While tonight I got takeout, I have eaten inside at a few Sushi Ai locations including this one and the sushi has never been this disappointing. I don't know if maybe it's slightly better in the restaurant or if this place really has gotten that bad. Over all, the food is cheap and the flavor is fine, I guess. The wasabi packets are truly awful and the texture of all the "sushi" was very gummy. I just really can't believe so many people in our local area tout Sushi Ai as their "favorite sushi place" when I think it can barely even pass itself off as fast-casual Japanese-American fusion food. read more

St. Charles Sushi Ai was a great experience. It's a smaller restaurant than the St. Louis location but it also appears more updated. The restaurant and bathrooms seemed clean as well. I was please with the service as well as the food. I have to say that the parking here is much much better. They also have car charging stations for those who are curious.
