Four middle pieces were great, ends might as well have been left off the plate

Service was great, not the problem. On the other hand the food was terrible. Chicken teriyaki is a thin piece of chicken (like imagine a styrofoam plate) that is a terrible cut and WAY overcooked, slathered in a salty sauce (bet it's straight from a store). And the veggies are a joke. It's one raw slice of carrot and uncooked onions and cabbage. Like literally what is the point of that? The sushi roll I got tasted okay. . . But the roll came out as a hack job. I'm embarrassed that they served the roll to me like that. The end pieces weren't even full and lacked either the salmon or avocado. Also the servings here are small for the price and they don't make up for it in taste. Sad.

We ordered two appetizers, lunch menu and two hand rolls with two drinks.. over $50 with tips. Promptly and quick service. Small restaurant since it is Friday after Christmas not crowded. Sushi tastes great.. good food and good price. I like scallops hand roll and soft shell crabs

This was my first time having sushi here, and I came because a few people recommended it to me. I ordered some nigiri and a rainbow roll, and everything came out quickly. The staff were so kind and welcoming, which made the meal even better. All the sushi tasted very fresh -- I especially loved the salmon, fatty tuna, scallop, and sea urchin. The rainbow roll had great flavor and texture too. You can really tell they use good-quality fish. They also have nice lunch specials with sushi rolls and nigiri, so it's worth checking out. I really enjoyed my experience here and would love to come back again soon!

I ordered takeout from the front counter at Oishi Sushi when I happened to be in the area. The food arrived promptly and I only waited 10 minutes after I ordered my lunch. The shrimp tempura in my udon noodle soup was perfectly fried and crispy, and I was pleasantly surprised to see lots of other veggies and imitation crab in the noodle soup. The udon soup broth was flavorful and hearty. Portion size was sizeable too! They have some good lunch special options and I would love to try their sushi at a future visit.

The chef cooking for us and doing the tricks was very nice and fun. The food was delicious! The kids always enjoy when they throw food in their mouths. We went for lunch so it was pretty quiet. It was our suns birthday and they came out with a cupcake for him.

Good was delicious! The menus were kinda gross, like sticky and dirty. Not super expensive for sushi. Overall an enjoyable experience and I would go back. Also grab Rangoons we're probably the best part.

Oishi Sushi never disappoints! We absolutely love their Golden Dragon Roll--it's fresh, flavorful, and always made perfectly. You also can't go wrong with a side of their fried rice topped with yum yum sauce--it's the perfect addition to any meal. Delicious food, great quality, and a spot we keep coming back to again and again!

Crab Rangoon, Side of Fried Rice, Edamame

The place is good as it's hard to find some decent sushi spots. The lobster roll is $30 but it's huge! It was really good my feedback would be less batter and more avocado in the roll. Great presentation l. The staff is always kind, we went on a Tuesday for lunch and it was pretty busy, but we only had to wait about 5 to 10 minutes for a table. The fried rice, crab Rangoon, garlic edamame are always a go to.

Delicious hot green tea.

Came in here for dinner and ordered the chirashi bowl. The staff was super friendly and attentive. They kept refilling my drink and asked if I needed anything. The chirashi bowl was pretty good. Some of the pieces of fish were thin and some were thicker so it was kind of inconsistent. The hot green tea was delicious and we'll brewed. Overall, I enjoyed the chirashi bowl, the hot green tea and the great customer service.

Spider roll and salmon roll

Totally unauthentic Japanese food. For a soider roll at $16.50, the quality and quantity should be worth $10. Salmon teriyaki was way overcooked with a pity small bowl of cheap rice (not even jasmine rice, the basic Japanese rice in all jap food). We asked for a little more rice and the Asian/vietnamese waitress did not think twice and refused our ask. She could have at least told me how much it is to order extra. Can tell she didn't care about customers but her RULES of her mighty restaurant, such a cheap restaurant with no regard to customers' need - we ordered this for our little girl since she only eats rice.

Lobster Special Roll

I can only speak on my takeout experiences, but each time we order to-go everything is fresh, the rolls and fish are separated well, and it's all tasty. We try to order fish that isn't fried but the lobster roll is one we get every dang time... worth it!

That was $12 :(

Skimpy, 6 small pieces of beef with a few vegetables. I wouldn't say bad but not delicious.

Came in for lunch to get my sushi fix. Having two lunch combinations today with a nice mixture of rolls and nigiri. This location always serves up the freshest tasting fish and the miso soup is consistently good. I usually do carry out but when I can, I like to relax and take my time to eat in. The servers are all friendly and patient, even when the place is packed. Looks like they are now seating on the patio Tuesday 7/11/23. Pics included.

Robata Maplewood - White Sangria and cold sake

Robata Maplewood

Robata is a small place with an ample parking lot size for its seating, or close to ample. I think…read morethere may not be enough seating for its customer demand... that's a sign of a popular place. Happy hour prices + the food quality are what had my friend invite me here. Some rolls are half off and so are a few beverages, like hot sake. I had never had hot sake. I've only had any sake once. I liked it fine, but I didn't want a second order after I finished the first. I was disappointed that Robata was out of plum wine. Instead I ordered what was described as a white sangria, but it tasted more like a brandy. I had a few sips and gave it to my friend. I had 4 vegetarian sushi rolls. Only the asparagus was included with happy hour. My 3 other rolls were takuan, pickle plum and BB. As much as I like plum (keep reading), and takuan was a pleasant surprise, and the asparagus was good, the BB, which has tempura asparagus, cream cheese, and sweet soy, was my favorite item of the evening. I was happy to see umeboshi onigiri on the lengthy menu. These were of a good size, but I think it perhaps would have benefitted from a higher pickled plum to rice ratio. (The only time I've had it has been from a food truck and I don't know how representative it is of onigiri.) Each order of food took a while to come out. My friend had trouble getting the server's attention when she wanted to put in more orders. Robata is not a place for a quick happy hour bite. It's going to take a while, especially if you're ordering in multiple rounds like we did. When the kitchen got too busy, my order another roll was denied. That happened well before dinner service ended and it was disappointing. I would have waited a bit longer. But it was probably good to get cut off from sushi at some point. We were a little confused by the bills. My friend may have overpaid (not gotten happy hour price) for some of her items, and there was some question about whether mine had been billed correctly, but in the end we decided that mine was probably correct. Hers, though... we aren't sure. I think I'll return to Robata for the BB roll, plum wine, and maybe something new, but I will be sure to have plenty of time, order a bunch all at once, and check the bill.

My go to order is the tiger style spicy tuna burrito with added kanikama salad. I also cannot put my obsession with their tofu nugs into words. They're highly addictive. Placed an online order 15 minutes before arriving... arrived a couple of minutes before the estimated "ready for pick-up time"... waited ANOTHER 20 MINUTES and had to ask several times about the order to get it prepared for pick-up... meanwhile, more than a dozen walk-ins who ordered at the counter AFTER THE TIME OF MY ONLINE ORDER got their food and were sitting down and eating it while I watched and waited for mine... There needs to be some more reasonable priority and attention given to the online order fulfillment if you are going to take them... there are plenty of other delicious sushi bowl/burrito/poke places much closer to my home these days since it became more popular (thanks to places like BLK MKT) but I choose to try and continue supporting BLK MKT even though it's a 45 minute drive round-trip... perhaps it's no longer worth it... please, do better!
