We were so excited to go to a special place for date night. Upon entering the lobby, it was apparent that the decor had seen better days. Instead of carrying an Asian theme, everything was beige. The food was not good and the restaurant had a horrible smell. I would not recommend.

Upon entry, the savory smells of soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and onion waft through the air. A large Taiko looming in the entry way, gives the atmosphere of what one might assume is a food festival. I was swiftly greeted by a young man, and asked about seating options, hibachi or dining, I chose dining as the hibachi was crowded with families visiting for the holidays. A sushi bar was also observed near the entry, with no one seated in the area. A friendly waitress came around and asked for drink orders and took appetizers orders, I ordered karaage, and clear soup. I was honestly somewhat confused when asked if I wanted chicken wing karaage. Upon receiving the karaage was clarity, the provided karaage was, in fact, a traditional fried chicken wing, using the standard fried potato starch that karaage is known for, rather than small cutlets of chicken, pork, or fish. I was surprised that along with the karaage, was ranch, a first for me in dipping sauce with karaage, instead of ponzu or kewpie. The flavors were typical for fried chicken, with less soy flavor than one would expect from a karaage marinade. The clear soup was somewhat overpowering in fried onion flavor, a strong fried onion flavor came over the top of the meat broth. I also ordered tori katsu and sesame chicken with steamed rice and fried rice. The tori katsu came served on a bed of lettuce and tomato, using lettuce instead of shredded cabbage, led the panko on the bottom of the katsu to become soggy, the flavors were average for a chicken cutlet and the katsu sauce was too sweet, either too much ketchup or too much brown sugar, hard to tell. The sesame chicken was rather sweet, and had almost no sesame flavor, and the breading was extra soggy. The steamed rice was average, an unseasoned medium grain. The fried rice on the other hand was the star of the meal. Tons of rich shoyu flavor, along with that delicious smokey sesame hibachi oil flavor, fried eggs, and light and airy onions sprinkled in. Respectfully, this restaurant may be a treat for some, and I respect this restaurant and it's staff are serving a midwest suburbs palate, however my overall experience was barely meeting average expectations for the cuisine, if I recommend anything here, it's the fried rice. read more

We had reservations for 8 and were seated immediately upon arrival. The extensive menu choices had something for everyone, even those teens with picky appetites. The service was excellent with drink refills and the chef's delivery on the hibachi grill all without a hitch. We had a birthday (me) and the theatrics they provided added to the fun. Out of all of the hibachi restaurants in Saint Charles County, this one is by far our favorite. They really helped get us through lockdown with their curbside pick up. Our orders were always correct, cooked perfectly and we're generous portions. They easily accommodate special orders such as double salad instead of soup and salad, double veggies instead of rice, and providing extra sauces. When dining inside, the chefs are always very nice and entertaining. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but that's to be expected so just order a drink and some sushi or apps & sit back and relax - put down your phone and enjoy the screen-free time with your family and friends while you wait! Came here for my daughters birthday on Saturday the 17th. The food and service were good but the heat was broken and they still sat people knowing we would freeze. They even lied to us and said they had turned on the heat knowing it was broken. Food got cold quick and we were just miserable. We came in on a Sunday evening about 7 PM and only had to wait about 10 minutes before we were seated. My daughter fell in the parking lot and they were very kind to check on her and make sure she was okay, giving her a handful of bandaids as well. The best deal is to split an entree! You get just as much food as you would buying two entrees. The only thing is only one person gets the soup and salad not both. But it's half the price! Great value, I'm glad they have this. The server was very kind. The only reason for the four star is because they initially forgot our appetizer and we never got drink refills. The server never came back once the chef started until about 5 minutes after he finished. So we had no service during the time the chef was cooking. Made reservatoon for my wife's birthday. got here and host first tried to tell me they didn't have it so I pointed to it I. His little book. The. He said everyone was not here, I pointed to everyone in our party. the. Told me someone else had a reservation before us and would be a minimum of 30 minute wait. Completely unacceptable both in not honoring our reservation and also the crappy attitude. Food is same as every other Japanese steakhouse on the planet so I'd advise going to somewhere that knows what they are doing. Don't recommend. read more

I have to add an update after my last visit last week. Friend and I went to celebrate her birthday and we both wanted teppanyaki. I am currently eating gluten free and have been avoiding restaurants because of it... I called ahead to ask if they had GF offerings and they said just tell the server. When our server took our orders I advised I was gluten free but would like the teppanyaki if they could do it. He advised, yes they had gluten free soy sauce and would cook my plate in the back so it would not be exposed to the gluten. I ordered the combo with chicken and shrimp. He then came back and advised that the onion soup had gluten but offered double salad if I wanted and advised that because the noodles were gluten I would have double rice on my plate. He brought my salad from the back with everyone else's and then brought my plate out right when the chef was starting to serve everyone else their rice. He even brought me a side of gluten free soy sauce and a special sweet and spicy sauce the chef in the back made! The GF version of the meal didn't taste any different from when I've had the regular version in the past (if your eating GF you know thats a plus). We used to love this place. When I first moved into my apartment, my mom and I went two nights in a row after busy days of unpacking and it was amazing. Great hibachi. That was three years ago. Last time I went, about a year ago, nothing was good. The soda was watered down, the meal tasted awful - though it was pretty, and the fried salmon roll was horrendous. The service was fine. I'm thinking the discrepancy is perhaps the dining side of things vs the hibachi side? I haven't wanted to return since though. When we arrived we waited a little extra time to be seated due to a few members of our family running late. When we arrived, a lot of us got drinks in the waiting area. I noticed he was rude to everyone who came to be served. Once we did get seated they told us there were only 3 cooks so we had to sit at only 3 areas instead of 4 that were in the room. There were 8 of us at one table, the rest were all at the other 2 tables. The table with 8 of our family members was serviced first. Their order was taken and they got their salads and soups. The other 2 tables still were still not serviced yet. The table of 8 had their food started with the cook. The other 2 tables still were not even given drinks. At this time about 30-45 mins had passed. The family table of 8 starts eating and we had just started to get our drinks. By the time my family table of 8 finished eating, we had just started getting our salad and soups. An hour had went by before the rest of my family had got fully serviced. The checks with gratuity included were given before the rest of the group even started eating. The service was horrible and they clearly did not care. Waiting that long is unacceptable. A new family even came and got seated with their grilled turned on before my other family members had their grills turned on with food on them. The food was really good but do not recommend. They did not communicate nor show any sort of apology for their horrible service. read more

This place is awesome! I love the hibachi cooking style and Asian cuisine is one of my faves! The thing I love most about hibachi at this location is they give you both rice and noodles with your dinner, the other hibachi restaurants I have tried it has always been rice only. The addition of the noodles really is the most pleasant surprise. This particular visit I did the Sukiyaki Steak dinner. It was delicious! This place is chaos. It's definitely one of the more clumsy dinner experiences that I have been apart of. We had made a reservation for 8pm and arrived about ten minutes early. When telling the hostess we were checking in we were dismissed immediately and told to wait. We eventually got seated at 8:30 when they had enough guests to fill the seating around the grill. Our waitress was flat out terrible. I understand there may be a language barrier BUT you can still be good at your job. Nothing was brought to us in a reasonable timeframe and she rushed us to order because it was so "busy." Translation: they weren't that busy they were just short staffed, unorganized or both. I ordered a bottled beer and it took 20 minutes to get to the table. You literally take it out of a cooler and bring it over. The couple sitting next to me received their drinks before I received my beer. You do get a lot of food but they really don't season anything so it can come out bland. The fried rice and noodles were very tasty but my filet that I ordered lacked something other than butter and soy sauce. Still satisfying but nothing to rave about. We did order one roll of sushi, unfortunately, the roll that came out was not what we had ordered. 2 and a half hours later I walked out full and with a ton of leftovers. This was a Christmas Eve dinner for my family and I. The food wasn't terrible except the fried rice in my opinion The fried rice was a bit crunchy and had an odd taste and not in a good way. But the rest of the food was great. However, service was terrible! Our waiter didn't seem to know what he was doing and while we were first to be seated we had a heck of a time getting anyone to come make our food . When we did he was totally not personable, didn't make it at all fun for the kids that were with us which is his job and didn't put on near the show that we saw other chefs creating for kids. We paid over $200 and the experience is part of that ... a big part and we didn't get it at all. Next is the temperature on the restaurant. It was so cold my entire parry sat there with heavy winter coats on while we ate and though we complained we kept getting the answer I'll check on that and it never got any warmer. Our food got ice cold really quickly which was not a bonus. One last point. I asked for soy sauce and he said he was going to get it but never got me any. He brought some for dinner so I know they had soy sauce. My daughter asked for chopsticks and got them in less than a minute. This waiter needed training! *We will NEVER return to this place! I would give minus one star if I could! We ate at the hibachi table. First, the place looked dirty and uninviting. The ambiance was HORRIBLE. They had a few tacky pictures hung and that was it. No music playing. The dirty curtains were all wadded and tied up. You could only hear the sound of the very loud exhaust hood on the ceiling whirring away as you are eating. The lady with the bus tub on a cart was actively walking around us as we ate which was nasty. We ordered 2 combination dinners, both with the filet mignon and shrimp. We also ordered a lobster tail and an appetizer of the chef's choice 5 piece sushi. The sushi I ordered made no mention of it being raw, so I assumed it was cooked. There was another sushi appetizer that said it was raw but not this one. When it arrived raw, I was like no way I was not eating raw fish. I tried explaining to the server that I made a mistake and I didn't want raw fish but he kept arguing with me and was refusing to take it back even though we hadn't touched it. We were forced to pay for something we didn't want. And btw, this was all happening as the chef was cooking. Which means, the "appetizer" that was supposed to come before the meal came after we had already gotten into the main meal. I'm not sure why because all it was was some raw fish slopped on top of a tiny pile of rice. And all the other guests at our table got their appetizers before the meal. As for the main meal, it was a joke. I paid $150 with tip for myself and son and expected to walk out feeling stuffed. But sadly, no. I have been to many other hibachi restaurants and they filled your plates so high you have leftovers for a week. The shrimp we ordered.....we each got 4 pieces of shrimp. Two tiny little portions of filet mignon and the lobster tail was so small it ended up being 4 bites. However they gave us a mountain of rice and noodles. And for some reason he chose to wait to give everyone the vegetables until the very end which left most of the pile of veggies crusty and burnt. I understand with inflation being what it is right now a lot of restaurants are struggling but I recommend cleaning the place up and making it more inviting and making the portions a normal size and the customers will return. When I requested some ice be removed from my drink (I forgot to say less ice), I received & kept receiving dirty looks from the waitress. Also, another female employee kept giving us dirty looks because we didn't get up & leave right after the meal. These gals need a serious refresher course in customer service!
