Never again would I hire this company to move if I were you. They charged me for team travel to eat lunch and to spend time backing up the truck when it was too wide for a driveway to reverse in the loading dock (When the kid drove in, he was unable to turn the truck to the loading dock. He then drove out the driveway and back in), and the 18-year-old who was working the second day was sent to drive a larger 26-foot truck to move my items. In any case, the vehicle was too large for a one-bedroom condo. I'm sorry I can't use the reviews that have 0 or negative stars. I had the PCS (Permanent Change of Station) move to a five-bedroom house, yet it took his team longer (6 hours total) to move a one-bedroom unit. This only serves to highlight how outstanding the Crain Van Lines crew is. I wasn't sure where the reviews with 4.5 stars came from on Google. I have used this family owned Moving company Craig Van lines. I use them for my business to move all the furniture out of one model store it for four months. When it came back both on the pick up and delivery again the movers on the truck were unbelievable, careful and on time. Even more impressive when they brought it back after Storch nothing was broken and very organized to go in the rooms to limit extra labor once they were gone. Anyone thinking of doing business with Craig Vanlines, I urge you to think again. Complete bait and switch "non-binding" estimates. I told them exactly what I wanted on walk through and my bill ballooned $900 on delivery. When I questioned the new bill it was a 4 month response time to demand payment within 10 days. Absolutely get it in writing or don't do business with these people. I recommend not even bothering and just hire 2 Marines and a truck. At least they are honest. I used Craig Van Lines to move from VA to MI in May and June. My items were picked up at the end of May, stored by them for about three weeks, then moved to MI in June. I would never use them again and I'll explain why. The estimate went well and was done in person. The price was similar to other estimates and I went with this company after reading reviews. I was told that my items (five bedroom house) would be loaded into crates, then stored in those crates and later delivered in those crates. I was also told that the crew would be the same in VA and MI. On the day of the move, the first group of three young men showed up an hour early. They said they were there to start the inventory. This was at 8:00 am. They went around the entire house and put stickers on everything and started the written inventory list. About an hour later, the rest of the crew showed up and began loading into crates which were inside a large semi-truck trailer. Things seemed to be going well and they were carefully filling the crates. Later in the day, a box truck arrived because they realized our items would require more than the eight crates in the trailer. Things took forever and it was 8:00 pm before they left. At that point, they unhitched the trailer and left it in the court and told us they would be back the next day to pick it up. I was given a copy of the written inventory which I signed without reviewing. It was late and we still needed to get dinner and check into a hotel. I had been told they'd be loaded by about 3:00 so it was much later than expected. We were told by neighbors, that the trailer sat in the court from Saturday when it was loaded until the following Tuesday. It was not stored in a secure climate-controlled facility as promised and having the trailer in the middle of the court was inconvenient for the neighbors. Three weeks later, the box truck arrived on the scheduled day 90 minutes late. We asked him where the semi-truck was and we were told to call the office. We called and found out that the other items wouldn't be delivered for several days. When they opened the box truck, it was jam packed with our items, all loose and not secured. Everything had been removed from the crates and haphazardly packed into the truck without proper padding. When the truck door was opened, my husband watched a fragile box slide from the top of the truck and fall 15 feet to the driveway. Inside, two frames were damaged along with the glass shattered even though they had been bubble-wrapped and padded. (They didn't cover the damage because I packed it.) One boxed marked fragile had a picture frame bust through the side from the inside. Another had a huge puncture hole. Due to the mishandling of items, every piece of furniture was damaged. That's not an exaggeration. Every single piece had rub marks, scratches, or cracks. A new metal bed frame had the paint rubbed off and scratches down to the bare metal. A new white cabinet had black rub marks and the paint rubbed off a corner. I will try to include photos with this review. We did not get extra insurance because we figured the cost of the insurance plus the deductible would almost cover a replacement. It never occurred to us that every single item would be damaged. After negotiation, they sent a reimbursement equal to about 5% of the moving cost. That check didn't cover the cost of the new bed frame. On the inventory, their employee had marked that every single piece of furniture was damaged in some way and I didn't notice it on the inventory list until I filed the claim. I had two new pieces of furniture that were spotless and I had photos to prove it but somehow on the inventory they were damaged. On top of that, several items were lost due to their mishandling: pieces of two lamps, a box of wire mesh for gutters, a packed kitchen box, a sleeping bag, etc. My list of damaged and lost items is endless. Every time I looked at one of my scratched pieces of furniture I get upset all over again. At this point, the only undamaged furniture we own we've bought since the move. Regardless of what the inventory says, only a few items had scratches before the move, my antique cabinet doors closed, and my china hutch doors were not broken. Do not use this company. read more

I could not be happier with our move. They were very responsive and fair with their estimate. The movers were fast, they did'n't waste any time, but they were careful, NO DAMAGE! Nicolas was awesome and so nice!All employees were courteous!! My sister had a very similar experience, so we waited an extra do so they could do our move. Also a friend another friend got a quote from Craig Van lines, but went with a cheaper mover and were very sorry they did. I spoke with seven movers, three of whom did in-home estimates. Craig's was compatible with the others for cost, and they had moved a friend long-distance a few months ago. Andrew's walk-through estimate was thorough and he answered many questions. Based mostly on the friend's recommendation, though, I chose Craig Van Lines. PROS: - Driver EDWIN CAMPOS! If he's not employee of the year, I can't explain why. He worked his tail off, and the entry drive to our new rural property is not exactly a wide, paved road. - The crew on the distant end (Bryan, TX) was AMAZING! What took two days to pack and load in Alexandria, VA took about 5 hours to unload and place in appropriate rooms. They listened. They asked questions when they were uncertain. - No deposit required; the contract simply provided a penalty payment if we cancelled too soon. - Andrew's initial estimate. - Price. The cost ended up being just under the not-to-exceed estimate. - Crews arrived and departed when they said they would. CONS - The packing crew: -- We knew we had a lot of *stuff*, and it was disorganized. We had been ill prior to the packout, too, so when the crew arrived, I told them "Pack everything; I'll sort it on the other end". The amount of stuff they left as trash was dismaying. -- Even worse was "Andrew, don't forget to have them take that Turkish carpet" and getting a "Don't worry; we got it" and then having to pack it into our UHaul because they forgot it. And "Andrew, there are a lot of plugstrips left throughout the house; they should all be packed" and then going through and boxing all the plugstrips myself. -- MANY items my husband said "What about that?" and the crew said "Your wife said to leave it here" when that was NOT in fact the case. I had not said so, and they had not asked. -- Communication was SADLY lacking, and not enough of the crew understood English - they kept referring to someone else. -- Boxes were marked oddly, and items that were nowhere near each other in the house ended up in boxes marked for a third place. -- Some of my valuable Limoges china was packed in regular boxes, not dish boxes, and not marked. I'm still finding pieces; fortunately, it doesn't appear anything is broken. In short, if I had to base my review solely on the crew in my house for 2 days in Virginia, I'd have given 1 star at best. My move with Craig Van Lines/Moving and Storage was a NIGHTMARE!! They advertise "specialist in delicate moving, experienced full-time employees, storage, and professional loading and unloading of the truck." If this is what Craig Van Lines/Moving and Storage truly has, then those specialists/professionals DID NOT handle my move. Here was my experience with Craig Movers: * Their packers speak little to no English so communicating with them was quite difficult and required me to use my cell phone to translate my needs with respect to the move/packing of my household belongings. Additionally, I found out the packers put glass items (Swiss clock, glass candlestick holders, Chinese porcelain vases, etc.) in with marble sculptures. PROFESSIONAL PACKERS/MOVERS do not pack these kinds of items together. * Their "professional" loaders did NOT know what they were doing. Many of my boxes that were labeled "FRAGILE or VERY FRAGILE" and clearly marked as "china, glassware, stemware, pictures, etc." were loaded on the truck at the bottom of the stack with many heavier boxes/items on top of them. Some of those boxes were placed on their side as opposed to standing upright as the arrow indicated. Also my formal upholstered furniture were not wrapped with plastic or even furniture pads as they should have been to make sure they were not soiled or damaged. As it turned out, some of my formal living room furniture did get damaged due to improper handling and no wrapping. This would not have happened with PROFESSIONAL AND EXPERIENCED MOVERS. * On moving day, one of the movers was in a hurry down some steps, slipped and pulled the railing right out of the wall. I reported it to the lead on site and was told their company's insurance would take care of it. I had to inform the new owners of my home the next day about the railing but ensured them the movers said it would be repaired and covered by the company's insurance. Five days later, the new owners of my home were told it would not be covered by insurance. Craig Movers gave some cockamamie excuse about the railing being installed incorrectly even though no one came out to the property to inspect the damage. This railing had hung on the wall in my home for 28 years with kids running up and down those same stairs and NEVER had an issue...and Craig's employee is responsible but Craig moving refused to pay the repair. * Before I decided to hire Craig, I contacted their office and asked about storage and if the warehouse was "climate controlled." This factor was very important and went into my decision for the selection of my moving company. I was told by a woman in their office that "yes" storage is climate controlled. As it turned out, their warehouse was not climate-controlled. My things were stored in an old run-down, filthy, dirty warehouse out in VA that had no fire sprinklers and was storing 2 tractors in it. I found out about this because I was so dissatisfied with the way the move was handled by Craig that I decided to hire another mover and come and get my belongings from Craig and have it moved to a reputable and professional moving company with a warehouse that is "climate-controlled." On the day I was having my things moved by this other company, I called the office person who told me the warehouse was climate-controlled and told her she misinformed me. She then indicated that she didn't even know what climate-controlled meant. * After I found out that Craig moving refused to repair the railing that their worker damaged and after I was misinformed by the lead on site about an insurance coverage issue, I lost my confidence in this company. I tried to communicate with the owner about all the issues by sending him an email and asked him to contact me. We exchanged a couple of texted but to no avail until I said I had hired another company to come get my things from Craig. That seem to get his attention and he tried to make things right. But by that time, little to late by then. He should have done this at the time I first contacted him laying out all the issues. * Lastly, when I was removing my belongings from their warehouse with the second moving company I hired, Craig had pulled out some other customer's belongings and had them labeled as being mine. I told them the items were not mine and now they have a crate/vault labeled as no name customer. I hope the customer that owns those items get them back. Moving is stressful enough on its own but compound that with movers who don't know what they are doing or don't handle/pack your belongings correctly and it makes it that much more stressful. For me, while I did my due diligence in researching this company, my decision on choosing Craig Movers, my move will actually cost me twice as much as it should have. Best family owned and operated company around. I used Craig Van Lines to move my belongings from one home to another over 60 miles away. The movers that came out were courteous and polite. They were very respectful in making sure all furniture was wrapped up and secure in the truck. They showed on time and were to the new location in a timely manner. Fred even followed up with me in a couple days to make sure everything went ok and were to my expectations. Definitely recommend this company to all friends and family. As to other reviews on here, i would definitely do your own research, as i experienced none of these issues mentioned, so makes me wonder, if there is more to the stories then what's stated on here. We moved from Maryland to Massachusetts in the summer, and first, the movers showed up more than an hour ahead of time we were told. This created a lot more stress and confusion. The guys were very rough on boxes, crushing many as they stacked them and slammed them from one place to another. They were pleasant and efficient, I will give them that. Papers to sign were shoved into my face upon their arrival, I had not seen full contract and insurance policy in advance, this turned out to be a MAJOR problem. The day of your move is not the time to be reviewing important documents and they should have provided in advance. I was told they would be moving my belongings to their warehouse to combine with another family to move north. About a week and a half later, they moved just my belongings to Massachusetts to storage. Again, the times I was quoted were not correct, they were this time about an hour late, I had to wait. I was with the movers all day. Later when I completed my inventory, Cindy Craig told me, oh I am sorry, we don't cover items lost once you move into storage. I had a damaged table, and at least 3 lost boxes, possibly more because the stickers didn't match their inventory, many items were not even on the inventory. They removed power cords from two of my TVs and lost those as well. When I filed the claim I was told again it wasn't their fault items were lost, even though they DEFINITELY lost my items in their warehouse. Many boxes were crushed and upside in the storage unit and it is a miracle that items were not broken. The move was OK, but the way Cindy and staff handle the loss of my items is so unacceptable. They could care less, and probably have my lost boxes in their warehouse. I have not received my reimbursement from damaged table covered by insurance either. I would NOT recommend this company as they just don't care much about people's precious belongings. I wish I had read the reviews as I see now this is a common theme. Craig moving did come back with a better offer to resolve our claim. While not ideal, I think they did try to do the right thing. Apart from the damage of the one piece, they were efficient and did come in lower than the original estimate. Before I engage any significant service provider, I check the yelp reviews, starting with all the one stars. I want to know the worst that can happen. The 1 star reviews of Craig left me scratching my head, give my recent 5 star (+) experience with them. My interaction was excellent from start to finish. The estimator (the owner) showed up on time, gave an estimate that was half of some of the others I contacted and got the crew to my house at the appointed hour. I had packed a lot of items myself, but those I could not get to (mostly wall hangings) were expertly and quickly boxed and loaded. I had a 2-stop delivery at destination (the first stop being timed on an hourly basis), which they accomplished quickly and, if anything, undercharged me for the time expended. The personnel at both packing and unload were terrific people with whom I enjoyed interacting during this stressful time. Everything got where it was going safely and intact. The final cost was well below the initial estimate. Not sure why some others had a lousy experience. Up to company to figure out the common denominator for that. But I've moved both far and near 12 times in the last 15 years. This was as good an experience as one could hope for. read more

My elderly mother used this company to move her things cross country in early March. Promised delivery was sometime between April 15-30. Her shipment still hadn't arrived as of May 29. Seems like she's gotten the run around about when this shipment would arrive. I hope that Craig will make things right in the end. If he does, I will change my review. We recently used Craig Van Line for a local moving including packing service. Their movers did good at the beginning at my old house. They kept asking us if they can have some of our furniture that we were going to donate to Charity for themselves and they also packed those for themselves. However, when we got to our new place, things completely changed. They did not put cover on stair railing and did not put protective carpet cover but rushed walking in and out with dirty shoes. They only put carpet cover after I requested. At late 9pm after they finally left all the boxes everywhere in my new place, they sit down for 30minites to come up with the charges and asked me to write down it was good job done. The actual charge came up total $6,520 ( about $1,000 more than the estimate). We were so tired at that point, so we just cut the check and gave them some cash for dinner, but did not feel it was appreciated. We are very disappointed and upset after opening boxes and boxes on the following day, finding that all the empty shopping bags and empty boxes from our old house were been packed. They also packed our sofa pillows, three in a large box with lots papers, which was totally unnecessary, but only became billable charges. The most disappointment was we lost all the TV cable/charge cords their movers took off from our old house. We called their office several times and also emailed their owner. As of today, we still have not heard back from them where out TV power cords are. Never use this business again!!! read more

We had a great experience with the packing and moving. However, we have had trouble resolving a billing issue (still outstanding). We entered into a not-to-exceed order for service contract for packing (to include all necessary material) and moving of our contents. Prior to the packers arriving, we requested our 20 free boxes (as indicated on the site) and also additional boxes to pack some of our contents on our own. We only used some of the free boxes and left the remaining boxes for the packers to use when they arrived. We were charged for the requested boxes (including the ones that were supposed to be free) when we settled our bill at the end of the move. This resulted in a double-charge for those boxes since they were included in the packing estimate for our offer and were also used by the packers. We contacted Craig Van Lines office staff to try and resolve the issue via a refund and were sent a partial refund check. When we inquired how they arrived at that dollar amount, we were told the accountant would send a breakdown, but this never occurred. Attempts to further resolve this matter with the staff over the next month failed due to (a) their lack of full acknowledgement of this complaint/issue and (b) incomplete responses to our e-mail inquiries. read more

Craig Van Lines added $140.00 to their initial estimate after I booked them. After I called them to book, they sent over the final paperwork for me to sign. Luckily, I saw they increased the price on the paperwork from their initial estimate. When I asked why the price went up for no reason, I was told it was to pack TVs and Fred must have forgot to include it on the initial estimate. They stated they always charge to pack TVs. I asked them to honor their initial estimate that was given a week prior since it was their error and I was told no. After giving me the run around for an hour, the front office worker told me they would to talk to Fred about honoring their initial estimate and they would get back to me immediately. After I didn't hear from them for 48 hours I canceled and went with a different company. I would never reccomend them. read more

We recently had Craig Van Lines move some of our office items from the 2nd floor to the 1st and store the rest until construction was complete. Very simple move and plan. They accommodated last minute arrangements for this which was great and they were the least expensive. Things you should know about Craig Van Lines before you move. First lesson learned-You get what you pay for. They will tell you everything to be stored will be wrapped and protected and put into the truck. The reality is they do not wrap and package the items you are moving or storing with them onsite. All of your belongings will be literally tossed into a truck and taken to their warehouse, then shrink-wrapped and stored. We had high end custom built wood furniture, some white upholstery and some white leather items for storage. Before any made it into the truck it was left outside on the sidewalk, and in the hallway unprotected and then tossed in the truck like self-assembly junk with quilts tossed on some of it. I was very concerned about this but I was reassured it was fine and besides we bought the extra full value insurance... what could go wrong? Second Lesson- do not buy the Full Value Insurance it won't do any good if you make a claim with Craig. They do not use an insurance company although they have one listed on their documents. There is no impartial department or company to review your claim when you make one, and you will. If you make a claim it will be reviewed and decided in house (by everyone with a last name of Craig). They will not honor a claim for the value of your items. They require to see the items in person before they are repaired, pictures are not sufficient evidence of damages. They will want to do any repairs themselves instead of using who you have as a reliable source. Given the way they moved things I personally would not trust any company they used. They will look at the furniture and cite "normal wear and tear" or "preexisting issues" even if you have documented photographs. They will claim the furniture is valued less than you provide on the claim report (with evidence of current value provided). We had an inch and a half thick Italian marble table top that mysteriously broke in half. It was delivered with the other furniture and left in the lobby with no explanation or apology. When delivery was scheduled an entire crate of furniture was missing. The movers on-site had to track it down and then retrieve it. Repeated requests to speak with the insurance company to present our side and review the claim were denied because they do not use an insurance company for a claim. The final outcome is a direct quote "Our contract specifically states that we reserve the right to examine and repair or replace the damaged furniture. In addition, our furniture repair professional's costs would be significantly less than what you were quoted because they work with us as a company, and not as an insurance claim". We were offered a fraction of the original claim and were told this matter is closed. Third Lesson-Just because you have been in business for years doesn't mean you should be. Bad customer service, disappointing and unprofessional, takes us back to Lesson One. read more

My friends and I were moving a couple miles down the road and while we packed up everything that would fit into a sedan, we wanted to get a quote for the remaining beds, couches, etc. We told them that our requested moving date would be this Saturday, so they came to evaluate on Friday. After checking the house and giving a quote, he checked with his team and found that they couldn't get a truck out to us until Monday, which makes one wonder why they would even come out to do the quote in the first place. I'll never use this company again. Luckily, we were able to secure Around Town Movers. A great guy named Leon took our estimate request, noted our moving date, and were able to schedule movers for us on that date instead of having us fruitlessly waste our time with Craig Van Lines. DO NOT USE this company if you value your property, honesty and good service and experience. Moving is stressful enough as is and when it comes to time to finally move and settle into your new home, the last thing you need is a company that will ruin even that final hurrah. We hired this company after the owner came into our home and walked through the house and gave us an estimate after a very detailed conversation. He said they would 'naturally' shrink wrap our furniture to protect it as well as the cost would not exceed the estimated amount. He recommended two vans and 4 men so that the move can be faster and efficient with the movers not having to spend too much time trying to organize everything to fit in one truck. He seemed very straightforward and professional and even thought the quote was as high as the rest, we decided to go with them. On moving day the movers came in and said they were not asked to move the family room down stairs or anything in the garage where we had items in storage containers ready to go, except for an exercise machine that was there and packed boxes. And if we wanted to move out the full basement and the garage the cost would exceed the quoted amount. The movers also advised us that they were not moving TVs, glasses on the coffee tables and the china cabinet etc. So I asked to speak to the owner and after multiple attempts we were told he was too busy to speak with us and also when someone from the office finally spoke to my husband they told him the owner would call. Its been 2.5 weeks since we moved, that call never came. So after I asked the movers repeatedly to leave our house, they would not but instead started making concessions and negotiations, I decided that we wanted to get this nightmare over with and I let them start moving items since they now would apparently move the entire house, as would be expected when you are moving. Our furniture was moved unwrapped. Our dressers were moved out drawer by drawer, they told me it would take at least 12 hours to move and not the estimated 8 hours which was supposed to be conservative, and I already thought was extremely long for four men. They also told me that they had to move our furniture that way because it was IKEA stuff and would break. Our furniture is not from IKEA. Whatever though. Our daughter's dresser drawers were damaged and they hid the broken railings so we did not see them until later when wondering why the drawers were not working right. Some items from the other dressers were damaged too but i can live with that. It would be nice if they did not try to hide that they broke something. And finally, when the house we were moving out of was finally empty the movers mentioned they will grab a quick lunch on the way to the other house 15 minutes away. An hour later my husband calls to find out if they are still at the old house with me since they had not made it there. I finished wrapping up at the house drove to our new house with some things in my car and they had not made it still. This is now an hour and a half. My husband calls the office and the lady tells him they told me they were getting lunch! i did not know more than 1.5hrs of the time in the estimate was for lunch!! BOTTOM LINE - DO NOT USE if you have options. DO NOT USE if you want integrity and efficiency from a company, as well as the respect of a company you will pay a couple thousand dollars at the end of that day. Craig Van lines has been nothing less than exceptional with its professionalism, customer service, and communication prior to and during the move of both my sons from two different apartments into one apartment across state lines. They were particularly understanding and flexible when we had to change the moving date twice. I have three kids and have moved them several times to college, a military move, and a job relocation. Craig Van lines actually honored the accurate estimates that were provided. This was extremely important to me since I had used other moving companies that had provided low estimates but then indicated additional charges just prior to the move or after the move. This was not the case with Craig Van lines. I would highly recommend this company and its employees entrusting them with furniture and personal belongings. AVOID this company at ALL COSTS. I am shocked ( deeply shocked) at the way they treated our furniture. I think they tossed it down our stairs. Our brand new sectional has holes and wood legs broke off- they have no regard for others' items. VERY SAD EXPERIENCE- so much damage . Selling a house, buying a house and doing a long distance move are major stresses. A friend had used Craig Vanlines for her long distance move and storage while waiting for her house to be ready and raved. So we had them move much of our belongings into short term storage so we could paint and stage our house to sell. They were wonderful and careful with our things and billed us separately for a month of short term storage. They then came and collected our remaining furniture and household items and delivered entire shipment long distance to our new home. Three strong guys moved everything in about three hours. They were polite and helpful throughout. Some of our pieces were heavy and they did not complain about steps. The price was very reasonable and service outstanding. Craig Van Lines moved us about 100 miles away to the Charlottesville area. They were amazing. The estimate was accurate and the final price ended up being slightly less the original quote. The crew was very careful with all of our furniture and very polite young men. They worked quickly and efficiently. Professionals from start to finish this moving company was top notch! Fred, the owner, his packers and movers all were helpful, customer focused and thorough. Not one thing broke! Craig Van Lines was first used by my parents in 1980. The quality and family owned feeling has not faltered. Did you know the average tenure of their staff is over 14 years! Our words can not adequately express our gratitude for the moving services provided by Fred Craig of Craig Van Lines during this Covid-19 pandemic. From the home visit to assess the household goods needing to be shipped, to office scheduling, and packing & loading, it all went smoothly and without a hitch. Pricing was very competitive and fair. The crew sent to pack and load the truck were stellar - respectful, extremely patient and helpful, conscientious, and pleasant to work with. They took great care throughout the entire process, including being prepared with masks and gloves to maintain a safe environment in our home. They were very impressive! Fred's willingness to deliver the household goods to Long Island City, NY during this time clearly demonstrates the outstanding customer service he provides to our community. Everything arrived without a scratch. It was clearly a risky job from a health standpoint, but everyone we had contact with in the company made us feel like it was business as usual. We've now used Craig Van Lines 3 times. The first two moves went fine which is why this review is not 1 star. In the latest move, although the actual movers were very courteous and seemingly careful with our stuff, it took them over 6 hours to load one storage unit onto the truck. By the time they reached the new house, they had already surpassed the total estimate provided, without moving one item into the house or putting the beds and other items back together. There was no reason for the estimate to be this far off, since this is the same company that moved us out of the old house and into the storage unit. They rushed putting things together, including a nasty screw poking out through our children's play table. When they left, we paid them 50% more than the estimate. As moves are expensive, that was a considerable amount of money. The day after the move we received an email, stating that the movers miscalculated and that we owe more money. When I called to ask about it, I was told that the email was sent in error and we were good to go. The next day we received another email that it was not a mistake and again they wanted more money. When I called the second time, the owner was surprised that I was upset about this. I told them I was unhappy with this move, and that this was now the third time I was being told a different number. She accused me of being rude, and finally said that she didn't need the $180 they were asking for enough to deal with someone like me. Since Craig Van Lines apparently has enough money, I suggest you take yours elsewhere. This is the first time I have written a review for anything, but felt in this case it was warranted. read more

BEWARE of this company, first they hook you in with a low bid price, then when you come to pay they adjust it up 30% and tell you they underestimated the weight of your stuff, they needed more boxes, etc. Isn't that the job of their estimating guy? Then their movers are careless, many of my things were thrown in and wrapped up together so they rubbed off each other during the move causing scratching and damage. They dropped several pieces of furniture damaging and breaking off corners. Altogether they caused $1,000 worth of damage. Which brings you to their "insurance" which is not insurance at all as it's not provided by a third party. They will argue with you about the value of your stuff even though they gave you a valuation to start with which turns out to be meaningless. In fact, they told me certain of my furniture with particle board components wasn't covered at all though they happily included it in the valuation. Finally, they offered to send out their repair guy to fix it but told me I would have to pay him up to the amount of the deductible, which is hilarious, because they broke my stuff and then wanted me to pay them to fix it. Don't get deceived by their BBB.org rating. They were the worst ever. I recently moved locally. They were rude and incompetent. They did an over the phone estimate. Because we were moving very close, we had moved most of our boxes and only the furniture was left. They moved as slowly and carried as little as possible so they could stretch the hours and match the estimate. They kept complaining our furniture was heavy and trying to strike conversations with me many times and asking for good tips. For a 3 hour job, I ended up paying them for 7 hours. These guys left me high and dry with approximately 5k in damages. Not one call to attempt to remedy the situation. Although I did get an email from the owner saying she was on vacation? I have filed complaints with the ALL moving associations and the BBB. Please, do not waste your hard earned money. Moving is an expensive affair, be careful. read more

First let me say that I didn't use Craig. My intention was to because they had moved my family a number of times since the 70's. I was very disappointed that I requested a quote and sent a detailed inventory but no one responded. So I had to move on. I emailed again and received an apologetic email that no one replied which was nice but too late for me to entertain a quote. read more

These folks are terrific! Courteous, professional, very reasonably priced (charge by the box NOT by the hour!!), customer-oriented, and make good use of technology to make things easy for you (quote, monthly bill for storage, etc). I used Craig to move my furniture to storage in the Chicago area. A friend suggested I call for a quote. Everything went very smoothly from the time Fred came to do the quote to the time my furniture arrived. The quote was very professional and the guys that packed up my house were great. And the guys who unloaded were great. They arranged the furniture so I could access everything. Great job. I would use them again if I was still in VA. read more

We used this company and regret it. A very sturdy rocking chair was broken, 2 glass table tops were missing and every mirror in our house was missing. I don't know if they wrapped it all and then forgot it. It was not delivered. After several email conversations we were told they could not be responsible. I will never reccomend this company. read more
