    Chicken Campfire Meal
    Marianna F.

This Chicken Campfire Meal is a lot of fun to eat and really takes us back to that old fashioned home style taste. It's so clever how it comes out in a large piece of wrapped foil which is closed at the top. It's beautiful food inside, smells great, the chicken is perfection. The corn on the cob is soggy but delicious! Also I had leftovers and the chicken was even better the next day!

Stopped in for a quick bite and had such a great experience! Our server was super friendly from the moment we sat down and stayed attentive the whole meal--drinks were refilled almost instantly without us even asking. I ordered the kids' pancake meal (yes, adults can enjoy it too!) and it was perfect--three mini pancakes and one sausage, all delivered very quickly and hot off the griddle. My sisters went all in on the Old Timer's Breakfasts, which were generous and packed with options--French toast, warm biscuits, eggs, meat choices, and crispy hash browns. They loved every bite. Great service, quick food, and a comfortable, homey atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

We were greeted and seated promptly. Our server, Sophie, made us feel welcome shortly after being seated. Absolutely delighted by the decor which harkens back to simpler times. As for the food...don't let the portions fool you. Their fried chicken is done right. The dinner salad was fresh, crisp and a meal in and of itself. Chicken dumplings? Outstanding! Wish we could have tried a dessert, but we were stuffed. This was our first time trying a Cracker Barrel. It's now going to be a restaurant we try to find. Living in SoCal, that's a challenge. Hope the tweaking to their operations is minimal because they have a very good thing going! Cheers!

anytime we took a family road trip up and down the eastern seaboard, we would stop at cracker barrel at least once! they serve homey, comfort food for breakfast, lunch and dinner! after dropping off my hubby at the airport, mom and i wanted to eat nearby to avoid the "parking lot" of traffic on the beltway. lucky me, cracker barrel was only 8min drive away! parking was very easy, plenty of parking outside the building. before we got seated, i was distracted by their gift shop, pretty standard for all their stores...as usual, with lots of toys, stuffies, unique clothing items and seasonal merchandise. we were seated right away...seeing that it was a monday around 1700, it wasn't that busy, a few customers sprinkled throughout the dining area, several staff waiting patiently in the kitchen for customers needing their service. the young man who came to greet us appeared to be in high school (maybe college?) he was young! but then again, i'm only getting older. he had a big smile on his face and a kind demeanor, explained the menu, shared the daily specials and took our beverage order. i ordered monday's special: chicken & rice, a baked chicken breast on a bed of rice, with creamy mushroom sauce (which i requested on the side). for my 2 sides, i chose the sweet baby carrots and country green beans. mom got a side of hashbrown casserole (she's a small eater when it comes to dinner). within minutes, our basket of muffins and biscuits came to our table. i was a bit surprised that there was only one of each inside. it had been a few years since i dined at cracker barrel and i remember the basket used to be full...hmm... a few moments later, our meal arrived and i noticed the chicken already had sauce on it, even though i had explicitly requested it on the side. not a huge deal as it wasn't too much, and they still gave me a small dish of sauce on the side in case i wanted more. the chicken was hot, tender and delicious, as were the carrots and beans. i cleaned off my plate pretty quickly and even added a bit more of the mushroom sauce on the side. mom enjoyed her hashbrown casserole, which was a very generous side porton i might add. we left with full bellies and happy hearts. it's too bad we don't have a cracker barrel near where we live, but i'll definitely come back here the next time i'm in need of some comfort food before/after a flight!

What can you say about the traditional American breakfast being served hot on your plate by the most pleasant servers? It's wonderful.

Long long wait for a table during Thanksgiving Day lunch/dinner. We called ahead and waited 45 minutes. Got a table. Got the Thanksgiving turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Added fried okra and hashbrown cass. The food was good but the temperature was not hot as we usually like it. The food was warm and sometimes cool for the sides. Not great. But the turkey was juicy. Not a fan of the sweet potato cass with pecans. The cornbread dressing and green beens good. The fried okra was piping hot but no seasoning. Pumpkin pie was defrosted out of the freezer. Tasted good tho. Lots of strange and annoying people dining and were out in force today at Cracker Barrel. Not the brightest or friendliest of people. I am sure they weren't thankful today cause they were quite rude. The problem with Cracker Barrel is they let the food sit to be picked up so when the customer gets the food, it isn't hot anymore. This has happened at both the Manassas and here at the Sterling location. Please do better. I understand today was a zoo but when at Manassas, it wasn't busy at all.

We enjoyed this comfort food, southern chain restaurant. It's nothing fancy but just good food with generous portion with lots of sides. I was sad to see so many low reviews due to slow service. But luckily we came here during slow time. The only thing was that my sides were not what ordered but no big deal. Be sure to check out their holiday merchandise and classic candies and cookies.

4/8/24 Found a Cracker Barrel on our way to the Great Falls and had to get breakfast. We usually have lunch or dinner at Cracker Barrel, so we haven't had their breakfast. It was meh... Service was amazing by Lukas. So attentive. Hubby kept dropping his and my utensils LOL. Lukas was there with refills, and when we wanted extra gravy. The new Cherry Lemonade was delicious, I should have bought a gallon, but we still had another week of vacation, LOL

First time here and it was your typical southern style American food. I had got the fried fish with a side of broccoli, mashed potatoes and gravy on the side. Was not impressed because when the food came out my side of gravy was already congealed; cold. We didn't receive a basket of cornbread/bread until AFTER we received our food. Normally tables would receive the bread first after sitting down. We had to ask a few times to remind them. Fried fish was ok, mashed potatoes was good but could've been better if the gravy was hot when it arrived to my table. The cornbread is very delicious however when it finally got to our table. It was one of my favorites. Also tried the green apple iced tea and that's also pretty good. Kind of like jolly rancher iced tea. Perk about this place is that is has an actual store out front. I found that very intriguing because they sell lots of Knick knacks and some nice candles!

Like Trios, but even better. Get ready for a bunch of superlatives…read more.. This place has some similarities to Trios in Merrifield. Both Heirloom and Trios are attached to--and share a kitchen with--a Roadhouse Grill, and all of them are owned by the same parent company. However, Heirloom is much smaller, which I suspect makes it easier to control quality. Based on my experiences--one visit here and many visits to Trios over the years--the quality of just about everything is better at Heirloom. My meal consisted of their Smoked Manhattan, the Burrata salad, and the Heirloom Burger. (The burger was so good that they named the restaurant after it!) The Manhattan was one of the best Manhattans I've ever had. It had a wonderfully mellow, balanced flavor that edged toward sweet, despite being made with rye. Maybe it was the aroma--and eventual taste--of the large toasted marshmallow suspended over my glass where the cherry would normally go? I guess, to be sure, I'll have to go back and order another. The Burrata did what all great burratas do: each bite felt like a mouthful of sunshine. The cheese, tomatoes, arugula, and balsamic vinaigrette combined to create pure culinary happiness. The only better burrata I can recall was at Mikrolimano in Athens. However, once you factor in travel time and parking, Heirloom is definitely the better value. The Heirloom Burger was absolutely delicious. This past week I've been waxing poetic about burgers because one of the Hackney's restaurants back home is closing after 70 years, so emotionally, I'm not prepared to bestow any new burger honors just yet. However, check back in a few weeks, and you may very well see this review updated to say that the Heirloom Burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Other logistics... The service was OUTSTANDING. We were seated right at our reservation time, greeted warmly by several staff members, and waited on nearly hand and foot by Alex. She explained the menu, helped us select our beverages, and made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the meal. It was attentive service without ever feeling intrusive. Parking is free after 5 and on weekends in a multi-story garage about half a block away. Happy hour is 5-7. They call Heirloom a speakeasy, but it feels more like a small restaurant with an eight-stool bar and a few high-tops. It's intimate compared with the Roadhouse, but not exactly speakeasy-intimate. And, finally, Heirloom is inside Roadhouse. You walk down a hallway, turn left into a very short hallway, open an unmarked door, and then go through a second door marked only by a red rose on the handle. I suspect the obscure entrance is their justification for calling it a speakeasy. But with food and service this good, they can call it whatever they like.

There were some who knew their customers by name and took time out to talk with them but that slowed down service a little for the rest of us. Nothing too bad but you might wait a bit for refills or something you need after your food or drinks arrive. We were given a booth by the window and right by the server's station. Looking over the menu at home, we both decided that we would get a bacon cheeseburger. The entrees seemed, to us, to be too filling. The bacon cheeseburger consists of: "100% angus burger, apple-wood smoked bacon, vermont white cheddar, canadian cheddar, sliced tomato, and crispy leaf lettuce". We both ordered it cooked medium. The dish comes with fries. To drink, I had ginger ale while my husband had a Heineken 00. Our server was friendly and efficient. He made a mistake, bringing my husband a Coke instead of the beer. My husband corrected him. He apologized and retrieved the correct drink. The burger was dry and overcooked. It was more on the medium well side. In one way, I didn't mind that as I didn't end up with greasy hands or a burger that falls apart. The bacon and the cheese provided some relief from the dryness. The fries came out hot, which we appreciated. All in all, it was an OK experience; we would consider going again sometime.
