I'm a regular at this location. I also purchased food for my family for tomorrow to pick up as well as several plates for people that I work with who will be at work tomorrow. I am a bit shocked tonight to write this post... But this was the worst experience I have had at this Cracker Barrel or any Cracker Barrel in a long time maybe ever. The food was not on, and the service was not on. Sometimes you experience a little blip in one or the other area, but rarely both and not usually spectacularly poor in both ways. Blah and bland would be great terms to use. Just downright blah. And disappointing. To top it off, I purchased meals using my app or at least my rewards information. It appears that none of that information has been loaded onto my app, despite having purchased the meals to the tune of 800+ dollars 4+ days ago. When I inquired as a store, what could be done pretty much there were shoulder shrugs. I could've asked for a manager and maybe I should have just didn't have it in me to fiddle with it tonight. The follow up - aka, the next day... I picked up 47 take away meals and was pleased with the service and the food, etc. I am grateful they were there and open to help take care of us for dinner on Thanksgiving day. I really didn't like Cracker Barrel The food was sub par. Not good at all. The tables are so close to each other it was uncomfortable. You have to wait a really long time for a table and you have nothing else to do but shop in their store. I guess that's what the experience is all about (?) This was the worst experience at a Cracker Barrel that I have ever had. I had the pot roast and it was burnt. The gravy tasted strange. My husband had the fried chicken which was awful. The gravy had a burnt Smokey taste and this was the white gravy. Mashed potatoes tasted like box, but worse. Our waitress brought biscuits which I asked for jelly, specifically blackberry and 15 minutes later she brought me grape I politely declined as that was not what I wanted. No other options were offered as she never came back with anything. The tables were dirty around us and the one person who had a rag to clean the tables was twirling around as he walked. Whoever is in charge has not made changes for the better and after being a longtime patron I don't see me coming back to a Cracker Barrel. Their food never comes out piping hot here. Tried the Shepherds Pie. It had virtually no vegetables. I saw 1 pea and 1 tiny carrot. It had 5 large pieces of roast beef that was decent but not great. However, overall I did like the taste. There is no way I would pay $15 again for it. read more

Usually, we can always count on CB to be a good place to stop for some good food. This CB is the worst one I've ever been too. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt passing thru off I-40 while we were headed east and stopped for breakfast. Tables were piled high with dirty dishes and no one clearing them off, doors to the bathroom were sticky. Fingerprints EVERYWHERE. Shane was our waiter, and he was very attentive and nice. He was the only good thing about the visit. Fast forward a week and we were on our way home and needed gas and dinner. I didn't even realize this was the same CB we'd been to the week before. I did not want to eat there again but options were limited. Same dirty tables, dirty restroom, mediocre food. We definitely have this one flagged as to NEVER stop again. Cracker Barrel managers please take note here: CLEAN ALL SURFACES IN RESTAURANT AND BATHROOM!!!! Clean the tables so they aren't sticky. Have some PRIDE in your restaurant. read more

The food came out at a good time and it tasted as we come to expect from Cracker Barrel but they made mistakes on our order. We ordered the three entrees but they only gave us two. It is freezing in here!! Tip: Bring a jacket or sweater. It took 10 minutes to get our drinks and 17 to even take our orders. Floor was filthy. This was at 4pm when it wasn't busy. Absolute 0 out of 10!! Seated for 10 minutes with no one acknowledging our arrival. Had to check with front desk to see if waitress knew we were there. Waitress finally arrives and complains that there's only two working in the whole dining area and making excuses. Very rude and curt. People beside us never got their food and when they inquired she said the "kitchen never got the order". Obviously they left after waiting 40 minutes. Yes 40!! When we asked if our order made it to the kitchen we got our heads snapped off. Even if the food tastes amazing at this point, we will not enjoy it one bit due to the frustration. My husband and I went for breakfast. Smoked sausage tasted like Bengay smells, the bacon was microwavable bacon and the hash brown casserole looked and tasted like it had been reheated from the day before. This is a friendly Cracker Barrel right off the highway. Service is a little slow for the early bird crowd. They obviously staff up around 7 so if you're there at 6 you have to be ready to wait a bit while the friendly solo waitress takes care of everyone by herself. Well, we gave this place another visit last night. I was skeptical after our last visit however; we wanted to use a CB gift card. It was approximately 4:15pm, and the restaurant was not busy. After our server greeted us it took forever before she returned with our beverages, but then left so quickly we didn't have the opportunity to ask for straws. She finally returned and took our order, and, then the wait really began! THIS RESTAURANT IS SOOOOO SLOW!!!!! While waiting for almost 30 minutes before we received our food; we had to ask our server two times for drink refills and for our biscuits and corn bread muffins. We were starving and needed something to eat while waiting for our food. The biscuit & corn bread muffin basket was okay; although the bread was just lukewarm. But, at least we had something to eat! When another server finally delivered our food, I didn't receive a spoon which was needed in order to eat my pinto beans!? Again, we had to ask for drink refills and we also requested extra napkins. Our food: Catfish & Chicken Fried Steak tasted really good however; some of our side dishes weren't served at the correct temperature. The pinto beans should have been hotter; the coleslaw should have been colder; the hash brown casserole wasn't hot enough; and only the broccoli was the perfect temperature. When we requested additional biscuits & corn muffins; our server brought a basket with one more biscuit & one more corn muffin, without any butter or jelly? WHAT!?!? And even though she was extremely slow and we had to keep asking her for things; she wasn't slow at all bringing us our check! LOL But, then, she blew it again when we asked for a drink to go. It took forever and she brought it in a tiny, to-go cup, without a straw! That's when we decided NOT to leave a tip! (This young lady was completely clueless and regardless of her training; she also had absolutely zero common sense). We spoke to the Cashier about the terrible service and the Cashier told us that CB Management brings in all of their new employees on weeknights for training. LOL LOL But, I told the Cashier that the same thing happened to me on my prior visit; which wasn't a week night. Whatever!!! This was our last visit for a long, long time. It's too far to drive for such a bad dining experience, when we have better options that are closer to where we live. read more

Fruit is now considered a premium side (which means extra charge on top of the already increased price of your breakfast. Since Covid, the portions had already shrunk a noticeable amount. Awful! This establishment managed to almost ruin our grandmother's 84th birthday dinner. Thankfully La Fiesta (right down the road) saved it. We had called the day before to let them know we had a large party. They told us to go online. Online said to talk to manger, so we called. They said that we needed to arrive early to seat the large party. We arrived an hour early to be told they would not seat us. 28 paying customers were turned away and told to go somewhere else. I've been going 2 Alma cracker barrell for 20 years. I eat there at least once a week, sometimes alone. The whole staff there is wonderful- Clint is my fav. Yesterday afternoon while I was there my heart started to dip down into the 30's and my pacemaker didn't come on so I had a seizure and fainted twice. The staff there was so compassionate and caring and the other diners prayed over me and comforted me and my 18 y/0 daughter. They have all restored my faith in other ppl! I have eaten at many Cracker Barrel restaurants and usually the service and food are great. That being said, I have never had such a terrible experience in any restaurant. The dinner started off great with a very short wait to be seated. Unfortunately everything went down hill from there. Our waitress was overwhelmed with the amount of tables she was serving AND I watched her go into the kitchen and cook food. It took 40 minutes to get our bread. 30 more minutes to get the majority of our food. My husband's meal came out without the gravy that was supposed to go on top. When he asked about it, the waitress said they were out but making more. 15 minutes later, when his dinner was cold, she brought out the gravy. My coffee was full of coffee grounds, but I never got a chance to ask for a new cup. When we checked out, they asked if everything was ok. My husband answered that it really wasn't. The cashier just responded with sorry to hear that. I don't ever take the time to do poor reviews. I love to pass on great experiences to others. This is a first for me. Old country vibe with southern hospitality is what I experienced in the Alma Arkansas location. Upon entering I was greeted with lots of wonderful throwbacks to childhood. Candy that brings back good memories and lots of interesting trinkets for everyone. Made our way to the hostess to check in with no wait time on this visit. We were immediately seated. Waitress came by with a great smile and asked if we've been there before and offered some suggested specials. We ordered breakfast because well let's face it who doesn't like breakfast for dinner? For myself i ordered the double meat breakfast which came with 3 crispy pieces of bacon, two delicious sausage patties, three of over medium eggs, grits, gravy and biscuits. A meal for a queen! Was not disappointed at all. This meal was the perfect comfort food after a long days work. Split my meal in half as to have a nice to go breakfast in the morning. This was my first time visiting Cracker Barrel and it was quite interesting all around. The staff were great, so friendly and helpful, especially in the store section. We had an older lady that explained some of their items to us, and we came home with a beautiful peacock plate. The restaurant half of the store was absolutely packed when we went, though we were seated almost immediately. The food seemed to be pretty typical Southern, country food, not really something I'm very familiar with. My boyfriend had their country-fried chicken with mac & cheese and potatoes. His friend had one of their signature campfire foil-wrapped roasts, and I had their... pot roast? Sides of corn, green beans, and cheesy potato hash? The flavors were ok, maybe I was expecting a lot? The corn was canned, the beans were canned. The potatoes were good though a little dense. The roast was flavorful; one piece was very soft with melt-in-your-mouth texture while the second piece was a bit dry and hard. I'll attribute this to variations in the beef chuck. It came with sides of corn bread or biscuits. I usually love corn bread so I had that... and was sorely disappointed. Maybe it's just a difference in palate since the corn bread back home is usually a little sweet, which goes perfectly with butter. These corn bread muffins were completely savory. The biscuits were good with the apple butter! I really loved their tabletop game (I dunno the name of it). The description is absolutely hilarious, and boyfriend's friend was showing us how it's done. He played casually and wound up with 3 left and said apparently he's "just plain dumb". Very dissatisfied. Restaurant was busy but there was empty tables. We were seated promptly. The dining area was not as clean as we are used to for Cracker Barrel with some tables not bussed and napkins on the floor. Our server was very disappointing. Had to be waved down for refills. She delivered our food in stages. She brought out the main courses without tbe ordered sides. TWICE! The first time instead of going and getting them she stopped at the table next to us and literally took 10 minutes taking their order. Of course the group asked 20 questions over every dish on the menu and ended up ordering the vegetable plates anyway. She finally brought out my daughter's toast... one piece of dried unbuttered toast. Sourdough not white like she asked for. As a side not we had to ask for a breakfast menu multiple times. Ok it's Sunday. They have a fried chicken special. The chicken arrived VERY over cooked. Their "special" batter was so tough it needed a chain saw to bust through the oaken exterior. The wing was so tough and over cooked I considered saving it to use as a miniature mallet. When we complained we were told "Yeah we've had a lot of complaints about the chicken." REALLY? Then someone needs to jiggity jog back to the kitchen and train those cooks. The scrambled eggs were over cooked as well. Looked like some of those you buy for your kids playset. They claim to serve breakfast 24/7. They need to maintain a flattop at the lower breakfast cooking temperature then. Another suggestion get back there and train your cooks. The manager did take the chicken plate off our bill but I would have rather had properly prepared food. The store is neat. However we literally had an older employee following us around doing her best to talk us into buying stuff. She even engaged my 14 year old daughter and tried to talk her into several over priced items. I felt like I was at a car lot trying to be talked into a car with all the bells and whistles. We would walk away and here she'd come!!! We finally just ignored her and she latched on to another family with kids. Surely this isn't CB's tactics for store sales? We left with the intentions of bypassing this particular Cracker Barrel on our future trips. read more

Quick comfort food right off I-40. Love when you enter the country store and see all the new seasonal merchandise! The flavors of soda are an impressive list. Breakfast is served all day and these are my favorite items on the menu. Unfortunately, I opted for Chicken strips which were fantastic but the side dishes were not as tasty! The last time we ate there was a disaster. I understand they are always training new servers. This last time was beyond my patience. She took our order in long hand and couldn't spell. Her words. Asked repeated for cornbread while waiting on our order. Tables around us came in after ordered but where almost done when we asked when our food would be coming. This was not our first experience but tried again. Premium price for barely standard food. When my wife talked to someone about what happened they offered one free desert.
