When our server took our order after taking orders from another couple (she apologized to them for the long wait.). Then came for our order, again apologizing for the wait. Then came an exceptionally long wait for our food. I had catfish, excellent, by the way, Wife had chicken fried steak. It was almost black. Even with steak knives, it could not be cut. The gravy was good. But not soft enough to penetrate the breading. It was a bummer of a date night. Yes, we should have sent it back, but I was too busy eating my fish to see the problem.

Resulting from the conversation - I asked if anyone knew a source for good tamales and one of the barbers recommended the ones his mom makes. Well - I bet those are good - and I did (for the record) request a notification from him when his mom makes the next batch so that I can make a purchase! That being said / I'm still wanting a good tamale. I decided to go to George's because they offer fantastic desserts made just like the ones my mom, grandmothers and aunts all make. I thought they may also have tamales! Well what do you know - they do offer both! I ordered and promptly disposed of the tamale spread (as it's called on the menu)! It was delicious - several meaty tamales covered in a homemade chili sauce with cheese and a generous helping of chopped onion (optional for others - but not for me). The tamale spread was awesome! I had ordered a piece of chocolate cake for my appetizer (not unusual for me). I finished that piece of cake after I finished the tamale spread. I washed all this down with some splashes of Louisiana Hot Sauce on the tamale spread and a large glass of ice water that was generously refilled by the fantastic server, Heather!
