This is a great, clean local diner style restaurant for home cooking and favorite foods. They offer a pie shop with excellent pies and other good desserts. (They serve breakfast until 2p). They offer grill type food with hamburgers and french fries and onion rings, cheese sticks, jalapeño poppers, etc. and then they also have steak nights as well as catfish, and even Tex-Mex food available. The service is friendly and fast and the people here act like they know you even if they don't ha ha. Great spot to grab lunch! It was recommended to me by a coworker and it did not disappoint. In retrospect they were other options I could have had. My wife chose the catfish & fries along with a few hush puppies. The service was excellent and our server Stephanie was so nice! She was kind enough to make several suggestions. I am so sad that this wonderful restaurant is beginning to show cracks in their business. They still have very delightful and friendly servers...most are women however; their food is not very good anymore. My most recent experience was on Sunday afternoon when I ordered the Patty Melt with a side salad. (I don't care tor their french fries) Anyway, the Patty Melt was just SAD! The bread was limp, the onions were overcooked, and the patty was so small that it only took up half of the bread. It actually looked like they ran out of beef patties & decided it was a good idea to s t r e t c h that hamburger patty out and try to arrange it on the bread to conceal how tiny it really was. And, as far as the presentation, it looked like a toddler had put it together. I never even attempted to taste it. I just returned it and paid for my side salad only. SO DISAPPOINTED. read more

This is the quintessential home cooking eatery, plentiful portions like mom would make. Cozy kitchen type tables and chairs, walls with photos make you want to sit and relax a while. Breakfast is why we stop when we're in the area. My husband and I love the over easy eggs, ham and fluffy pancakes. Coffee is hot and refilled quickly. Our waitress Brittney even gave us a history of Miss Anna's while serving up a side of sunshine smiles. Was OK. Would I eat here again? Not even a chance. Cornbread was sweet and very dry and barely warm. Mashed potatoes were slightly warm. Gravy was not homemade and was slightly warm. Fried squash was piping hot and decent despite it obviously being frozen not hand battered. The chicken fried steak was piping hot. It had a slight burned taste. I am pretty sure it was not hand battered but also frozen. I could be wrong. The waitstaff is all very friendly but to be honest not clean looking. The cook went to bathroom 4 times while I was there. My waitress kept singing whatever was on the radio. Very odd backwards vibe. Signs everywhere say good homecoming. We walked in. I noticed the restaurant has definitely been here in Fort Smith a long time because of the stained booths and mismatched curtains. Everyone in the place was 50+; I'm not saying that's bad, but it is generally a red flag on food quality. Hear me out- I'm not ageist- as we humans age, we gain a certain complacency, and senses decline. It's easier to pass off lower quality food unnoticed when you're serving it to people less sensitive to it. Fine, totally fine- it's just a diner, I wasn't expecting like fine Italian or my mother's home cooking- but I have a standard of expectations for any "sit down" establishment: serve better food than I can get through a drive thru. I have this expectation for a few reasons, the most straight forward of which is simply that they charge more. This is not unreasonable. Despite the shabby affects, the place was relatively clean, so I didn't insist on turning around and going somewhere else. I asked the waitress for a water with lemon- no lemon, but they have lemon juice packets. 3rd red flag (1st customer base, 2nd aged and stained decor,) because they either did not have enough requests for it to keep it on hand, meaning low volume of customers, or the restaurant cannot afford something that does not have a long shelf life. Both reasons indicate business is not great, which is never a good sign. I should've declined anything further, but I like giving people a chance. Now I know, three red flags, leave now. I'm a learning robot, I won't repeat this mistake. Probably. So we look at the menu for a few minutes. My date decides he wants kickin' chicken. He orders that with fries and corn. I am an adventurous eater with a strong preference for spicy food, but that's not the kind of place this is. No problem, easy to get the measure of a place with the basics. I order a chicken basket and upgrade fries to mushrooms after asking the waitress if the chicken strips and mushrooms are hand breaded and made in-house. She says yes, that's why I paid $4 on top of the $11 for my chicken basket, and $12 for my date's meal. I'm not blaming the waitress here, she was lovely, and of course I tipped. I honestly think she just didn't know what she was serving because someone had told her what to say and it was not accurate. The chicken for both our entrees was processed pressed chicken, not whole breast cutlets. At this point, everything was not fine. I was (am) very hungry due to a meal mistake on my dinner from yesterday at another location, so I was very disappointed but decided to give the mushrooms a shot, even though they, like the chicken, very obviously came from the deep freezer and were not fresh, in-house, and hand breaded as I was told. And while they would have remained disappointing and over priced, were they cooked properly, they would have been edible. At first I thought they were just tossed into a fryer that wasn't hot enough, because they were very mushy, but then I bit into something awful that made me reconsider the fryer being the issue. I've never had a rotten mushroom before, but about four mushrooms in I bit into the sickly sweet flavor only bad vegetables take on. At this point I was done. If you can't store food properly and safely, you shouldn't be in business at all. I should've just tipped the waitress and walked out, but I've heard stories of restaurants putting the responsibility on the employee to pay, and I didn't want to risk that. She did knock five dollars off the final bill when my date complained. For him, I'll also note the corn he ordered was literally just canned corn they heated up. No seasoning, just warm canned corn. It was at least warmer than the cold white gravy I ordered with my chicken. Final bill was just over $23, an unjustified total when considering the two plates full of inedible food left on the table. They did offer us a free bakery item, but we declined for obvious reasons. I paid $27 cash and we left. The fries weren't terrible. read more

Stopped in on my trip from Bentonville back to Texarkana. Ms. Anna's came up on our map and it looked like a good place to eat, and we tried it out. Although the place was packed with what looked like a typical lunch crowd, we were lucky to get a seat immediately. I had the lasagna, which was the daily special. I specifically asked our waitress if the lasagna had any type of bell pepper, and she said it didn't; she mentioned that she ate it every week as it was her favorite. Well, it actually DID have bell peppers, which was a complete no-go for me, but I tried to eat as much of it as I could choke down. The plate came with some really good bread and for my vegetables I had a double order of Mac n' Cheese. It was good, but nothing to write home about. I also had the Sweet Potato fries, and they were pretty good, probably the best part of the entire meal. I'd recommend this restaurant. It was clean and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. We were driving from Maryland to California. We stopped by for a night in this area. Being super hungry in the morning came to the restaurant for breakfast. The day started with a great smile from the hostess, which made my day. After ordering the food it didn't take much time. The meal was so big that we could barely finish half. Ooh the food..!! Miss Anna's used to be a place that I would reccommend to anyone who was looking for homecooked, great food. However, recently on my last couple of visits I was less than impressed. I ordered a daily special to go and asked if they had it available. I was told yes. I order that and another meal. Upon arrival I paid for my meals and went home. Not once was I told that they did not have available a part of my meal that was ordered. I arrived 30 minutes later to pick up my order and they did not say that part of my meal was not available. When I called and asked them about it they asked if I would come and pick it up_they did not inform me that it was not available until I arrived. When asked for a refund they tried to tell me that they did not charge for it when I explained that I would pay for the other half that was available. The other meal that I ordered I was not enthused about also. I ordered a pork chop sandwich and as per usual, the tomatoes were hot and the lettuce wilted. Southern home cooking that did not disappoint! Found Miss Anna's while on a business trip in the area. The atmosphere was cozy and you could tell a lot of locals stop in often. The members of the staff were very welcoming and catered to whatever we needed. They were so delighted to hear we were from out of town and heard about them. The waitress offered good suggestions and helped point us in the direction of local favorites. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, I called it fried goodness. It was a heaping portion covered in gravy which I had accompanied with sweet corn, mac n' cheese and of course, cornbread. Everything was nice and warm but most importantly, tasted wonderful. Before we left we wandered up to the counter where they sell desserts. The pies looked absolutely amazing and are baked fresh. We also learned that they have been voted best burger in town. Came here with my best friend while I was visiting Oklahoma/Arkansas for lunch one day. I ordered the burger that I saw someone else had and was NOT disappointed! It was the Western Burger with onion strings and BBQ sauce. Thing was as big as my face and so delish. Had sweet potato fries with it, and those were amazing as well. Had a whole other meal for when I got home. I tried the coconut cream pie, it was good but the coconut flakes were overwhelming as they make the "crust" out of coconut flakes as well. I'd recommend this sweet piece of Arkansas to anyone visiting or anyone looking for a good bite in general. You won't regret it! Oh! And the service was incredible! Been a repeat customer for over 10 years. Always been a great place for some good hometown cooking, but I won't be back. Over the years I've enjoyed their Cobb salad, but the last couple of times I've been there the salad is smaller and no longer includes the olives and scallions. You also use to get at least an entire egg with the salad, now it didn't even look like it had half of one. My wife went for the chicken tender basket. My husband and I decided to go to miss Anna's for an early 10th wedding anniversary. We looked at the menu online before we went. My husband ordered the catfish basket and the waitress asked if he wanted fries. My husband said I would like the hus puppies and the waitress told him it doesn't come with it just to look at the menu and see that it does. I ordered the taco salad. We both ordered Pepsi the Pepsi tasted like pure syrup no carbonation. Then when we did receive our food finally. My taco salad was cold. All of it including the meat. My husband wanted to say something then but I wouldn't let him. Then what really topped it off I found a long black hair in my taco salad on a bite I almost took. We called the waitress over and told her about it. She then just went and got our check and brought it back at FULL PRICE. My husband went up to the register just for them to call him a liar about the hair. We ended up paying for his plate but neither one of us were able to eat the rest of our food. Worst breakfast in Fort Smith. The omelet I ordered was undercooked. I've had better biscuits and gravy from a gas station. The wait staff was rude and very inattentive to their tables.
