I had a very good breakfast burrito with a side of loaded latkes. The Latkes were a nice surplice but tasked more like deep fired postal skins than traditional latkes but they were still tasty. Everything was very clean and bright and another feature which is typical of many local trendy spots I lot so of local art for sale. but here is the twist, its free to dispaly art and the artist gets 100% of the sale, no sharing a cut with the restaurant! Came in today for lunch and shared the braised short ribs and chicken salad platter which were both amazing! Our waitress was really nice and the food came out in good timing. The braised short ribs were cooked to perfection, I expected them to have a sweet glaze like other places but this was perfectly done and not sweet at all. Stopped in here simply because they had latkes on the menu. They are so good!! Also had their apple walnut chicken salad with housemade chips and dill dip, also very good! They have dessert too! As a person who suffers from celiac disease, I am hesitant to try new restaurants. However, River City Bistro did NOT disappoint. My family and I decided to stop here on a whim and to my surprise they offered gluten free bread. I cannot tell you how excited I was to be able to have a sandwich! I ordered the Italian sub with everything on it and subbed the original bread with gluten free bread. I chose the homemade potato chips and a dill dipping sauce as my side. Everything was DELICIOUS. I can't believe I haven't tried this wonderful bistro before a few days ago! I've been missing out! We ordered the Bruschetta as an appetizer, and they added tortilla chips for me so I could avoid gluten. This was also so tasty. Not only was the food incredible, the staff was wonderful as well. We were greeted with a friendly face and banter as soon as we walked in, and our waitress was very kind and attentive and made sure everything was gluten free. We love breakfast, and saw that this place had just started serving breakfast, so we had to try it. It is a little pricey, but everything is fresh made and tasty. The service is also top notch. I had the breakfast burrito, stuffed with chirizo and eggs and so much more. My wife had the breakfast sandwich and swapped out the scrambled egg for a sunny side up egg. First time visit! 1~2 minutes of waiting to be seated. 10~15 minutes FORGOTTEN about after being seated. While being circulated by 3 different servers. Surrounded by Fort Smith Soccer Moms decked out in Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Coach, and their fabulous bangles. The seemingly completely freaked out server from across the restaurant ran up to our table wide-eyed, astonished by the lack of service apologetically helped my friend and I out. Said server, also a sweet man, brought us complementary pickled green tomatoes and pickled cucumbers! First time I've ever had green tomatoes! They were delishus! And the cucumbers were crisp and seem pretty fresh. My friend and I pigged out. We ordered: Brisket Sliders, Hot Pastrami Sandwhich, Lox & Bagels, and shared a Molten Chocolate Lava Cake, with each a side of fresh home made vanilla ice cream. The Brisket Sliders were pretty good. Stuffed with juicey, warm brisket in between a sweet roll. Decent, but could use more meat. My friend ordered the Pastrami Sandwhich, but I manage to nom on 1/4 of it. Also very good. Spicy mustard had a nice kick, her plate also came with a side of the potato pancake things. I don't really care for them much. I got the Lox and Bagels! Exciting thing is.. this is the only restaurant in Fort Smith that I'm aware of that has smoked salmon. Decent, but I've had a much more impressive combination else where (Dallas is amazing) Now for desert.. Oh. My. Gooosh. The home made vanilla is really good, paired with molten chocolate lava cake was almost heavenly.
