This place is the real deal country cafe in the Ozark mountains. My bride and I were driving to see the leaves and made this our lunch spot and it was a Sunday buffet! Fried chicken, Salisbury steak and so much more. My wife and I were pleased with everything BUT the mashed potatoes. Honestly, it's frustrating that this country diner chose instant mashed potatoes with artificial butter flavor. Potatoes aren't expensive, and this was the single let down of the entire lunch. It's a cute place. The service was good, especially for a small town where sometimes it's hard to get employees. The food was good, but nothing to really write home about. The salad bar only had iceberg lettuce on it, but was relatively cheap. I had the Ultimate Grilled Cheese with 5 different cheeses in it. I do gotta say that their drink glasses are HUGE. I stopped by after hiking Big Bluff. I came in tired, and beat. I was nicely greeted and seated quickly. Jen was our waitress and made us feel welcomed and offered suggestions on what to get. She was such a breath of fresh air and was extremely personable. She suggested we try the house made ranch. I personally am the world's BIGGEST ranch hater. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. Jen at the end of our meal suggested we treat ourselves to a huckleberry milkshake. Which I had never heard of. Man was that the best thing I ever had. Sitting in this quaint little town is one of the absolutely best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich and it was delicious, flavorful, and an absolute generous portion. We also had the chili cheese burger and the beef was juicy, tender, and tasty. The chili alone made me want to drive right back into town for a second order! Haha The service and hospitality was super and our server made us feel more than welcomed! The ambiance was perfect. we came back to the cafe for breakfast and it did not disappoint. we got hasbrowns, pancakes, bacon, and the cinnamon roll. I'm not much of a breakfast person, but this was really good and I highly recommend. The ambience was good felt like an "old timey" cafe. And the service was really good as well both times I've came here. Last time I went to this cafe the food was okay, but I just don't think I got the right things, despite that, I still recommend coming to this cafe. Also from my last review, I got a green squishy and it popped but this time I got two new ones and they are good squishies! In conclusion, I recommend this cafe. read more

The waitress was not overly friendly, but also not rude. I was bummed that the biscuits and gravy were not what I was hoping for. Sucks that the service was horrible and the food was good. Overall place seemed cleaned and a cool lil spot with cool stuff to look at, but the service was horrible. Server didn't care to take their time with us, and just in a rush. Never introduced herself and would just slam stuff onto the table and walk away without saying anything. One time she slammed our food down and like 3 feet away she turns around and asked if we need extra plates. Just very unprofessional in the sense of wanting to take care of the customer. Food tasted good , but was a little bit on the pricey side for what you got. I did like that we got a cool banner sticker to keep, and to go drinks in styrofoam cups when leaving. We went there on a Wednesday morning at about 10:15am, technically still breakfast for 15 more minutes. The waitress told us it wasn't possible to order a bowl of chili bc it's on the lunch menu. When i questioned that she told me it was bc the had to do an entire kitchen turnover at 10:30 to start serving lunch. So i guess they make their chili in 15 minutes?? So we order breakfast. My omelette was average, but overly salty and although my husband ordered his eggs over easy they were actually well done and slightly burned on the edges. It took us almost 45 minutes for the food to come out, and we were told it was bc they were waiting for the hashbrowns to finish cooking. I suggested they bring out the rest, and were told they couldn't do this bc they "plate it all at once". Basically it is overpriced, poorly cooked, slow, average to mehhh food. The service here was very good. Our server was thoughtful and knew how to take care of a big group. We went after the normal lunch rush, and it was still really busy. We had several people order burgers and some order the more traditional style southern platters. All the food was great! The burgers, especially, were very tasty, juicy, and fresh. The salad bar was clean and had a good selection. Those of us who ordered dessert also really liked ours. We had a couple shakes and a peach cobbler which were all great. We have been going to Ozark Cafe for three years since we discovered it. It used to be a wonderful place to eat. We were there last month. I have always gotten a loaded baked potato with my Chicken Fried Steak. This time when we got the bill....they charged $2.00 to put a few things on my potato. My partner got a Chicken Fried Steak as well. He has always gotten a little extra gravy on top of his fries. They charged him a $1.00 extra. It will be a long time before we go back. read more

Whew they were super busy on a Monday lunch! Poor girls were running nonstop! Salad Bar had gumbo, which was actually really good for outside of south Louisiana. I had the Excaliburger, which is two grilled cheese sandwiches used as the bread for a burger. It was good, and you can request the meat less cooked than normal. Fries pork chop was good. Always LARGE portions! Quick service, even with it being a Sunday morning. Very friendly staff and in such a unique, historical building.

Even here a few times, on this trip we came during peak season for tree colors and the place was packed at lunch time. Once we got a table we were quickly met by our server and started the process of ordering. I had the bacon cheeseburger and chips. The cheeseburger was excellent, seasoned well with great bacon. I also had the peach cobbler for dessert and it was very good, maybe a little dense but very good. We will always stop here while driving through. read more

Ate here twice while in the area for a few days. Once for lunch when we first got to town and then for breakfast one morning. Both times were great. Service was friendly, quick and on top of everything. Burgers were hand made patties and large! When they say it's 1/2 lb IT IS. Breakfast was good as well. We came here on a Sunday. We were greeted quickly and sat at a booth in the back. Our waitress is awesome and she's the only reason why I'm giving this place three stars. Otherwise, much lower. They had a full menu, which is quite extensive, however, it was a $14 buffet so we chose that. The ribs equaled the McRib. The Mac n cheese bland. The salad was good. Ranch dressing homemade and yummy. The corn, chicken, rolls, etc just ok. It is a buffet. And cheap.... the pot roast was my favorite! Quite tasty with great vegetables read more
