The food is nasty and greasy. We both had fried catfish that tasted like river water. The onion rings were good. French fries were soggy and greasy. Not very friendly staff. We were nearby in Fayetteville as my brother passed away. I'd lived in Huntsville for a few years growing up, and got a wild hair and decided to bring my husband the short hop up to Huntsville. Boy has it changed and yet it hasn't. I was so happy to find Granny's Kitchen. We were hungry and they delivered. The club sandwiches were packed with very tasty meat and quality tomatoes and lettuce. I got onion rings and hubby got tots. You can tell a place changes their frying oil regularly when the fried foods are crisp and you can taste the food and not the burned old oil. So, Granny's definitely changes their oil regularly. We were fighting over the tots. Bathrooms were clean, but a bit dark until you found the light switch. Service was excellent. We were well taken care of. Portions were large. Observation. Of first impressions. Good food but you best be ready for a wait. Once seated it took quiet a while just to get a BLT. Literally over an hour waiting at our table of 4 for a BLT. Wait staff consists young girls in yoga pants. Kinda too cheeky for me. However the Decor is nice. 72 decibels in dining area. Great place to eat! Stopped in with family. Ordered the steak sandwich with fries, chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and brown beans and the lunch special ham and white beans with potatoes. All of the dishes were excellent. Tea tasted like it was just brewed. Our waitress was wonderful. She even went back and wrote us a list of all of the desserts they had. Brought the pie to eat later... Chocolate, coconut cream and cheesecake. She packed it for the ride back home. read more

We were in the area around lunch time and found this place on Yelp with good reviews so we decided to stop. The food was very good. Our server, Beth, showed us to a nice booth and took our drink order. She returned shortly and told us about the daily lunch specials. They all sounded good but, decided on the Bar-B-Q Pork plate with mashed potatoes, Homemade Biscuit and one side. I ordered a side of pinto beans. My wife got the same thing with Fried Squash. Our meals arrived quickly and Beth brought some homemade strawberry jam to try on our biscuits. It was delicious as was everything else. We were so full we did not have room for the homemade pies they had for desert. If you are in the area at Breakfast(serving till 11:00) or Lunch(till 1:30) time be sure to stop in give them a try. We ordered 2 baked potatoes that each came with a roll, before 11:30 a.m. on a Monday. We waited more than 30 minutes and watched other folks come in, sit down, order food, and get their meals before our two baked potatoes arrived (not hot) at noon. The rolls were dry and did not come with butter. When I asked if this was a normal wait time, we were told that it was unless you ordered one of the specials. We had flies as 'guests' at our table, too. Do not recommend (unless you've got a book or newspaper to read, or plenty of time to just sit and wait). read more

I travel to Huntsville maybe once a month to visit my girlfriend and she suggested Granny's for a late dinner, not knowing anything about it other than it's a diner I said sure. I called in the order and brought it back to her place and OMG it was so darn good. I got the BLT and some onion rings and it was probably the Best BLT I have had, the lettuce was fresh, the tomato was juicy and the Bacon and mayo were aplenty. The onion rings were fried perfectly and I wish I asked for ranch but even without it so darn good. She got the twice baked potato......OMG it comes in weighing like 2 pounds filled with butter, cheese, and bacon. No part of me thought that a twice baked potato would come in like that behemoth. If you live in town you are lucky, cheap and amazing. If you are just passing through, stop here cause the food is amazing. read more
