My wife and I stopped in for breakfast 11/24/2024. When we walked in we saw 6 waitresses and 4 tables with patrons. No one came to wait on us as we sat there for about 10 mins. At that point a white couple came in and they immediately were brought water and their orders were taken. We were totally ignored so we got up to leave. Big open floor, close to half of the restaurant was full. Service was decent. Eggs were actually really good, hashbrowns were fresh for the most part. Sausage was surprisingly good and flavorful. Then the toast was decent. It wasn't crisp how I typically like my sausage and hashbrowns but it was fresh & didn't taste like frozen food. I would go back again if in the area. Food was greasy and management lacks customer service. Initially asked if they had wifi and I over heard management say "it's a long number and I'm too old to go looking for it or crouch down" the waitress came to me apologized and I said it's ok. First time here and I let them know that I was looking forward to tasting their food. I noticed they were very friendly with their regulars, which is nice for them but not so much the new folks coming in. I ordered a hash brown platter and it was extremely greasy, I couldn't share it with my toddler. I asked for a box and a check so I could go home and quickly feed her. I let the manager how my experience was and she said "I'm sorry" I let her know I wasn't going to finish my food because it's too greasy and not anything that I'm used to for breakfast. Management said "I'm sorry it's not supposed to be greasy" and I went on my way. 3 stars for the lovely young lady who was very attentive and had the best customer service there. If I could give this 0 stars I would. Came to this establishment at 12:15 pm. Me and my friend ordered loaded hashbrowns. After 1:25 an hour and 10 mins later with no food I went to the front to check on our order. The waitress wouldn't even look at me. The cook came out the back and stated he would not be able to prepare my order because he had to many big orders ahead of mine. He stated he wasn't concerned about loosing a customer, we were welcome to leave if we wanted to....so rude. We left, and hour and 10 mins later still hungry. Incredible omelettes, and biscuits and gravy. Hash browns were awful! I didn't know you could go wrong with a hash brown, but just throw shredded tators on a griddle with no seasonings of any sort and a slight twange from lemon juice and boom awful hash browns. We have been wanting to try this place for some time now but they always look so busy so we don't stop. From the out side this place looks really small but its not, it is pretty good size. I would say with Covid that people would take extra care on how things are handled. But I sat and watched the cook staff refill their own drink glasses. This review based on 50+ breakfast visits This place is a really good greasy spoon. My favorites are the Sunset Eastern Omelet, the Eggs Benedict, and the Waffle. I usually order either the omelet or the benedict, and split a waffle with my wife. Coffee is good. Service is good, and gets better the more regular you become. Food is top notch breakfast fare. Atmosphere doesn't matter to me in the morning, as long as there isn't a clown hosting karaoke, or a DixieLand Band playing in the corner I do not require too much visual stimulation in the Early AM. I always end a visit from out of town guest with a breakfast at Sunset before they have to get back on the road. read more

The ambiance is decidedly folksy - it reminds me of places where your grandparents would have been regulars for the last 30 years. The service is very friendly, in keeping with the atmosphere. I started to order two pancakes, and with a knowing smile, my server told me that the pancakes are dinner-plate sized, and I might only want one. Taking her input, I changed my order to a pancake, two scrambled eggs and bacon. Thank goodness - this was almost too much food for me! The eggs rival homemade, the bacon is thick-cut and flavorful, and the pancakes are both thick and expansive. Very tasty, and very filling. Bottom line, Sunset Grill is a great spot for those who want a good, unpretentious meal. This is not a place for people for whom "brunch" is a verb - there are no mimosas, there's not a see-and-be-seen element to this place. I went to sunset grill on Sunday, 10-9-16. The place was crowded as usual on Sunday mornings which was expected. I walked in with my fiancé and a bus boy told me to sit anywhere with almost every table already taken. After navigating through the crowd I finally found a spot. After waiting about 10 minutes, an angry looking woman came to the table gave two menus to us then walked off. I asked her how her day was and she replied "fine" very rudely. We usually got a table right off but we have waited multiple times for more than an hour for our food - especially if an omelette was ordered. Only one omelette maker - seriously... This is a place were every one knows your name. It has a family atmosphere and a real Southern tradition complete with cream gravy and biscuits.They are only open for breakfast and lunch except Friday night. Friday is all you can eat catfish, prime rib and other specialties. The salad bar is not bagged salad but fresh crisp lettuce with toppings of your choice. Try the potato salad and the coleslaw. Unfortunately there's nothing about this Sunset Grill that smacks of cool like the one immortalized in Don Henley's mid-80's song. The breakfast food is okay but this place is really short on atmosphere and that's the biggest reason for my two star rating.
