A Short Version:
Nouveau Moroccan food at this casual cafe in the Byward Market.
The Long Version:
Coza Mia opened up in mid 2025 in the space that long stood Aux Delices Boulangerie (it was Mr. Mango very briefly before Coza Mia moved in). Working in the area, I've walked by a few times and thought they had some interesting menu items such as Moroccan French Tacos, Moroccan sandwiches and Pasticcio but didn't get around to trying them.
One day as I was walking by, I noticed they had a surprise bag listed on the Too Good to Go app (it's an app that allows restaurants to sell leftover/day-old food at a discounted price). I do love this app for trying out new-to-me restaurants. The bag was listed for $6.49 so I figured why not give it a try?
The thing with the surprise bags is it's a surprise you don't know what you're going to get, lol.
I ended up getting a crescent shaped calzone-like item with mostly onions and a bit of mushrooms inside (along with tomato sauce and cheese), 3 chicken wings and a small salad that consisted of romaine lettuce, onions and tomatoes.
The calzone-like item is not listed on the menu, but they do have pizza on their menu, so I suspect it was made from leftover pizza ingredients. Kudos to them for staying true to the spirit of Too Good to Go, which is to reduce food waste. So take leftover ingredients and make something with it, lol.
Chicken wings aren't specifically in the menu, but they have grilled chicken, so I don't know, haha.
The calzone-like thing was ok, except some of the dough inside was raw! I had to bake it further in the oven when I got home. The filling was mostly onions, and I'm not a huge fan of onions, so I did not enjoy this creation that much. The flavor was fine though it tasted like a calzone.
The chicken wings were way too salty for me. And I found the salad a bit boring.
Nonetheless, it was fun to try the surprise bag, and I will likely return to try something on their regular menu. Maybe a Moroccan sandwich or some Pasticcio.
I had to wait a while for pickup because they had to make the calzone-like thing. However the man working there was very pleasant.
It's a very casual restaurant and the interior looks more like a takeout place. I did like the fun drawings on the walls.
Like most businesses in the Byward Market it's street parking only or paid parking in the parking lots.
