I was walking down Rideau and noticed the old place I reviewed here had been replaced with a place called DZ House. I decided to return a few days later to try this Algerian place out.
I wasn't sure what to expect as I haven't seen a lot of Algerian restaurants in town. When I walked in, I was greeted by the really friendly staff. I had a look at the menu and it was sandwiches, fajitas, tacos, burgers and paninis. This place looks up my alley. After a quick scan and some thought, I decided to go with the panini. I got the chicken panini with fries. I saw down and in no time my order arrived.
The grilled panini looked decent. I tried the fries first and they seemed to be lightly dusted and fried. They were OK. They came with a spicy sauce which they offered when I placed the order. I wish there was a little more but I didn't think to ask for a little more. Next up was the panini. I took a bite and there was a little bit of a kick to it. I had to double check if it was the sauce or the panini that had some spice and I'm pretty sure it was from the chicken. The sandwich was nice, it came with melted brie which nice.
After a bit, I finished up my meal and the place started getting a bit more customers. The meal was a pretty good price. It was around $15 with a drink. I'm definitely going to come back to try something else. read more
