I can't comment on the food quality, because I never received my order. waited 25 minutes and never got my order. Got a table number, sat down at a table and waited and waited. When I went to the cashier, they couldn't find my order. There was a girl walking around with the same tacos we ordered but had a different table number. Pretty sure that was our order. This place is such a vibe... A little standalone building facing a gas station, Coya's serves up deliciously simple Mexican fare from a tiny kitchen with lots of character. Stopped by during a date, and the staff was friendly. The food, however, was a bit greasy. Definitely do not wear your Sunday's Best when coming to this restaurant and grab tons of napkins! I had lunch with my family here and was excited to try the food based off the menu. The customer service wasn't that great, we spent about 80 bucks on food and drinks and asked if they had a water cup for my son and they told us we had to buy a water bottle. Authentic Mexican food. Loved it. I had a Huarache (pastor), tasted great but I still hungry so I also had a taco. Never had a Huarache before it's like large sope or taco with more masa. The food is really good, just a little expensive but worth it. Only issue is that their hours are messed up. I've driven there twice now in the last week and they've been closed both times, once because they were working on the building and all they had was a little paper sign saying they were closed that day (I live like 25 mins away so that's why I was so annoyed). We had the Queso Birria tacos & Pambazo.. so friggin delicious the birria meat was tasty and (not fatty like some places) the Pamboza ( basically a torta with the bread lightly soaked in enchilada sauce) was messy (as expected) but GREAT flavors with the chorizo and potatoes and cheese and lettuce and tomatoes. Some wrote about the prices being high but I don't think so, especially considering where I'm coming from (Chicagoland area) and Considering inflation I think everything was priced right. The first thing I noticed about Coya's Cafe is that it's ADORABLE. The outside of the restaurant has been painted bright blue with pink accents. The surfaces inside are covered with Frida Kahlo and Mexican art. I ordered a carne asada huarache, a long corn tortilla covered with a layer of beans, a heaping portion of beef, and a layer of queso fresco. It was REALLY delicious and I know I'll be back to order it again. My grandma got grilled pork tacos and she loved them, too. At the end of our meal we shared a strawberry smoothie which was tasty and light, a perfect dessert. I love Coya's! I definitely recommend it and am looking forward to a repeat visit. read more

Our first time ordering here was during the COVID-19 shut down. The ordering process was very hard to get through, because everyone was ordering at the same time. Once we got through, we were told to order online instead, so we did. We ended up doing through door dash. Delicious! Kind people serving amazing homemade food in a special little spot. Edgar was behind the counter and was so gracious the whole time. We ordered the pozole verde and a nopal sope and both were scrumptious and filling in the most hearty and homemade way. The variety of self-serve fresh salsas are each incredible too. Edgar told us they make everything to order, and you can taste it in the freshness. They sell beautiful wares from Mexico, which the owner brings back from her trips. We bought a few gorgeous handmade mugs for our new home :) Can't wait to come back. We are here on Monday afternoon. We are from out of town and stopped for a late lunch before our drive home. It's an unassuming place, cute decorations around. You order at the counter & they call out your number at the window to pick up. However their customer service was horrible and ruined our experience. The cashier woman who took our order made a mistake on her slips and essentially gave one of our food items for our child alway to a separate party. Then proceeded to argue with us that they made the food. Even when we tried to resolve the issue, they just became more aggressive. It finally clicked between them and after 15 minutes she went to confront the other party about the "stolen" food. Through this all we were also still waiting for our drinks, and sides (aguas fracas & corn on the cob) All the adults in our party have been in the food industry and as a business owner I cannot fathom EVER talking to my customers that way. Simply own up to your mistake, apologize and try to make it better. The food was good, but the prices a little high. However, with the awful experience it negates the food. We won't be back. read more
