I am a regular business traveler and Meli's was close to my downtown Moline hotel. Meli's Pancake House is a pretty solid breakfast spot that I've been to a few times. Overall, the food is decent and I've had a good experience most visits, and the coffee is definitely a standout. The ambiance is also really inviting and cozy. This location can feel a little tight when it comes to seating, but it's well taken care of and clean. That being said, the customer service could be better. There have been a few times where we've customized our order and it wasn't done correctly, even after clarifying. One time we sent a meal back and the remake still wasn't right, which was frustrating. I think if they improved their attention to detail and service, it would really elevate the overall experience. read more

Went to Meli's Sunday morning at about 11:00. Everyone loved what they ordered. The White Chocolate Raspberry Pancakes were so good with Nutella. This place is the ultimate breakfast spot. Loved loved loved the fluffy pancakes. The breading on the chicken fried steak was crispy and delicious, covered in a sausage gravy that was creamy, hot, and spiced just right. My sister got the biscuits and gravy and those were perfection as well. We both enjoyed the scrambled eggs-something you'd be surprised how easily restaurants can screw up. Our server was very friendly and kept the coffee coming during our longish wait. I also appreciated the wide open space for the endless diners stuffing their faces with the wide variety of pancakes-including a flight of waffles & French toast if you want to try different kinds (I saw a blueberry, fresh strawberry, and fresh banana). It's not too loud in there even though it's full of people. All in all, a 5 star experience for me. Yes it took awhile for the food, but it was worth the wait. My husband and I visited this restaurant on a Friday morning. We were greeted right away and seated. Restaurant was not busy - only a few patrons eating. Menu had several selections. I got two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. My husband and two eggs, biscuits and gravy, hash browns and sausage. He drank orange juice and I had coffee. He said the orange juice was ok, but had better. Coffee was very good, in my opinion. Food came shortly after we ordered, and serving size was more than adequate. Scrambled eggs were light and fluffy. Hash browns cooked perfectly. Bacon not too crisp, and the biscuits& gravy very good. Staff was warm and pleasant. Not bad. We dropped by Meli's before hitting the road to head back to Chicago. It's a typical American breakfast spot serving hearty options ranging from omelettes, skillets, benedicts, waffles, pancakes, and wraps/burritos. While initially I thought the price point much lower than I would expect, the food portions match accordingly. Typically at breakfast places like this I end up with leftovers to take home, but in this case I was able to finish just about everything being smaller in portions. Not a bad thing as I was hitting the road to drive and didn't feel sleepy from overeating. Overall service was good, no complaints. Easy parking (free) in the adjacent lot. Last thing to note, is this place definitely prefers cash for payment. I chucked a little when I checked out. Default 25% tip on top of the 4% surcharge for using a credit card. Visited Meli's on Sunday 12 January for a late breakfast/brunch since it was approximately 1230 and was able to get sat rather quickly. Immediately upon entering we were greeted and able to be sat. Meli's offers a variety of seating options from the barside, booths, and traditional tables. It's very bright and welcoming tooo. During my most recent visit I was disappointed, I ordered the meli cakes as an upgrade with no powder sugar and it came out with powder sugar so it had to be remade. Upon it being remade you could tell it still had powder sugar on top but I didn't make an issue as my skillet was nearly finished at this point. The pancakes although they had banana, Nutella, and whip cream were dry. I had to add plenty of syrup but they were still too dry. At our table a few folks had the regular pancakes and they noted they were also dry. As far as plating, most skillet usually come out in a skillet presentation dish such as a small cast iron but mines came out in a bowl so it wasn't really a skillet. The flavors were ok, but the house made hot sauces both the green and red added the needed flavor to make the dish hole. Lastly, after the food was served we never saw our server again other than her immediately dropping of the checks and saying "no rush" no more than a few seconds after getting our food. Atmosphere - not many soft surfaces so it can get a bit loud, think big city dinner level noise. Inside decor has good character with nice locks murals and rustic wood surfaces. Cheerful look and feel. Very friendly staff which is always a nice bonus. Carnitas Benedict & sausage patty side order - $11 Sourdough with poached egg, carnitas, avocado, hollandaise and hash browns. Great tasting and generous portions! I would get this again. Carnitas were tasty with the hash browns (asked for extra crispy). Mickey Mouse pancakes (kids) - sausage patty as the meat choice. $6 pancakes were light and airy. Over easy egg was perfect. Syrup comes out warm in a bottle. My kid liked it a lot and raved about the whipped cream. Chocolate Milk - I only like premix and this was perfect. No cheap chocolate syrup here. I think we went in a bad day (Sunday at 10 am). Food was good. Servers were friendly. Kitchen was short staffed. Long wait, food for 4 came out one by one. My group loved the chocolate chip pancakes and the waffles but the egg dishes were over cooked. Toast had the texture of a crouton. No drink refills at all. There are too many tables and not enough space to wait for a table so if it is raining outside (it was) the people waiting are standing right by the table where people are eating which is a little awkward. My experience was meh... i always expect a place with pancakes in the title to make some amazing pancakes. I ordered eggs and bacon. My eggs came out and they tasted sour. Barely could eat. We came to eat on a Friday at 11 am. I waited in line for 15 minutes with my toddler and 3 month old. A group of 5 younger men came in about 15 mins after me and were served and given a table immediately. We then finally got a seat and ordered our food, it took about another half hour before we were served our meal. Long story short-- if you come here it will be at least a 2 hour experience and zero customer service. I wasn't even greeted at the front of the restaurant. Food was OK.
