After visiting the nearby John Deere Pavilion we were looking for a place for lunch. A local on the street recommended this spot. After a quick peek at some Yelp reviews we decided to give it a try. It wasn't too busy so we were able to secure a booth. The waitress wasn't exactly attentive so it took a bit to get our order placed. They had a good beer selection and I tried a 1/2 pint of their German pilsner which was solid. My wife ordered their Wednesday burger basket special for $8 which was a good deal and correctly cooked medium rare. The order of tots that came with it was very good and huge. I was really excited to order their home smoked pastrami but was informed they were out of it. Rats! I eventually settled on their brisket barge which was smoked brisket on a pretzel roll with fried cheese curds on it. A real Wisconsin touch! The spicy coleslaw was different and I really like it. For some reason, this restaurant does not show up high on the search results, but it seems to be one of the better options downtown. Good variety of choices, with creative and flavorful food. I got the Turkey Melt on this trip. Really fresh and well flavored chunks of meat, and great dark greens, cheese, and other toppings. The slaw is very unique and tasty! My wife got the pulled pork. It's a mess of a sandwich, that she ended up eating mostly with a fork. It was very tasty and she got the beans for her side. They were very brown sugary and delicious. Servers help each other and the food came out very, very, quickly. Decent bar liquor choices and of course, lots of their beers. Nice outdoor patio and a big bar, with additional table seating. Checked out this cool brewery in downtown Moline. It's more about the beers, but there's also food like pizza. Bent River has a couple locations, with the other one in Rock Island. Probably this one is better because it's bigger and open later. The prices are pretty comparable to other craft breweries it seems. A lot of times it's busy. It's a pretty good sign. There's a large draft selection. It's about $7 a pint. Pretty good for local beers, so we got a few of these. American Wheat is a classic. It's a medium ABV at 5.0%. There's also a pretty okay food selection. It's about $8 for shareable appetizers. The Chips And Salsa are good with anything to be honest. Great brewery that's also a restaurant where they also cook everything. It has many items as far as beer and food. The food is mostly meaty stuff like brisket, but there's other things like pretzels. read more

Tried hard to not get bent out of shape for a few reasons... It was Memorial Day. It was super nice out. Half the city was closed for the holiday. I was in town for the day and wanted to grab some beers at a local brewery to celebrate the holiday and my birthday. We popped in to a fairly busy brewery and decided to sit out back in the patio area after deciding sitting inside was just too silly to do on such a beautiful day. Our waitress informed us after we sat down that there was an hour wait for food. Cassey and I decided to stay and wait. We picked out a few beers to get and were told that those kegs were tapped out. So we had to pick our 2nd or 3rd best option. Cassey got an Uncommon stout (I think) and I got the Mississippi Blonde. Before I got that, I did inquire about the Jalapeno Pepper ale and the waitress brought me a sample. I love me some Jalapeno and this was just like drinking jalapeno peppers. It was good but not something I wanted 16 ounces of. The Mississippi Blonde was good, if a bit light on flavor and weight. After a few beers and tons of conversations, we asked the waitress about food and were finally able to order an appetizer. We got some chips and dip to start with and then grabbed burgers once our waitress gave us the thumbs up that a meal was good to order. The chips and dip were pretty tasty. Normally I prefer salsa to queso for tortilla but once I tried the queso... I was in love. I don't know what they put in it but it was amazingly tasting. I grabbed just a basic plain burger with pepperjack cheese and french fries. Cassey got the patty melt with sweet potato fries, I think. After the long wait, the food was much needed and much welcomed. The french fries were extra crispy and how I typically like them. The burger itself was good if not a bit weird with the pretzel bun and I only cheese as a topping. Without lettuce or tomato to add some juice to the meat and bun, it was a bit dry but that's my own doing as that's how I... for some reason... ordered the burger. All that said, it was a very random day of dealing with small hiccups but with only chilling and hanging out on our schedule, it didn't derail how much we got to catch up and just shoot the breeze. read more

This was Beckys FAVORITE moline restaurant before and we'd been MANY many times before. Becky and Me went here for a Saturday Dinner and ordered a Pretzeled Loaf (APPETIZER) and the Mac and Chsse with Pulled Pork. The APPETIZER came out in 3 minutes and the food came out only TWO MINUTES LATER. A Little Suspicious to me that it came so fast, and Bad Kitchen Managment to bring out the food when me and Becky had only been able to take TWO BITES OF PRETZELED LOAF!! The saddest part for me is that this used to be a FIVE STAR MEAL!!! The ole meal had thick beer cheese with the pretzeld loaf, the cheddar cubes and pretzel bits on the old pulled pork Mack and cheese (used to be The OINK!) - all perfect, and completly absent from the dinner when we went. This time, the Loaf came with what tasted like Qdoba Mild Queso- Not Right for The Dish!! The Mac and cheese pulled pork just Wasn't As Good, and was missing its perfect garnishes! Also, the meal was Not Warm, and the dry Pork came with a COLD SIDE OF BARBECUE SAUCE. If I am going to pay 50 Dollars for a Dinner, next time it will be somewhere that can warm up their barbecue sauce- and doesn't rush their Customers out the Door. read more

Rounded out the visit sampling the latest hazy(not for me) and then the uncommon stout, which did not disappoint! We stopped here before a concert at the Vibrant Arena which is in walking distance. Had the BBB burger and fries and they were both very good. My wife had the fried chicken sandwich which she loved. You could tell it was hand breaded and a big piece of meat. We arrived around 4pm, 3 hours before the concert started but they informed us there was a limited menu because of the concert and expected crowds. The place was practically empty so that was a bit annoying but the limited menu did have most of the things I would have wanted anyways. We were also told apps and main courses would come out at the same time so we decided not to order an app even though a few looked really good. Then a table next to us ordered one and it came out before their main dishes. A couple minor annoyances but worth noting. All said and done, we would definitely go back if in the area. read more

Tried the special which sounded better than it tasted. Pulled pork with a pineapple slaw which just tasted like regular slaw. Definitely come for the beer. They have plenty on tap and they rotate. Came here with my coworkers because YELP had this place being the best place in this area. We sat at a booth for almost 10mins and still no assistance at all. The serving area wasn't that busy either, there was a large 10 people party, but no one else. Then we left to the bar area where we were finally helped. There was another couple at the bar. We had a few drinks, but no food menus. One of my coworkers asked what kind of other drinks did they have and the bartender just points to the menu hanging on the ceiling without saying a word. After our first wave of drinks was served, he checked backed with us almost 30 minutes later. The wait was just too long for us and we were starving so we just paid our tab and left. I stopped by here a couple of Sundays ago with my wife. We were in the Quad Cities area and wanted to try a local brewery and so I consulted Yelp. Bent River brewing came up with a ton of good results and so we headed over. As soon as you walked into the restaurant you could see the brewing equipment right in front of you behind the bar. What a bar it was too as it was super long and took up a whole room by itself. In addition to that there was a dining room that I didn't see much of. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided on doing a flight here. Whenever I ordered it I was asked if I wanted the big flight or small flight and I chose the small flight. The bartender then told me that I could choose 4 beers and so I went with the cherry wheat, undercurrent IPA, coconut Porter and Brute IPA. All of the beers here were actually really good and great representatives of their style. If I had to choose one as my favorite (definitely hard here) I think that the cherry wheat would be my pick. It was nice and light with that fruity cherry flavor which I loved. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed all 4 beers that I tried here and would be interested in doing their bigger sampler. read more

We came here hoping to taste some beers and try out some menu items. Immediately upon entry we were greeted by someone working behind the bar. She was friendly and told us we could sit anywhere inside or outside. We opted for seats outside since it was a nice sunny day. Danielle was our server and she was fantastic. She was working many tables and was busy but was still able to provide us a high level of quality service. We ordered the 12 beer flight. I think I enjoyed the sweet potato and the jalapeño beer the most. We really wanted to try some of their other menu items but unfortunately they smoke all their meats here! Since we're not able to eat smoked food this didnt work out well for us. Thankfully their chicken was grilled so we went with that option. Hopefully in the future they will change things up and not smoke all their meats since I'm sure not many people like their food smoked. We also ordered the catfish which was perfectly fried but I was surprised to find it with the bone and not filleted. Both our meals came with garlic mashed potatoes but we didnt taste any garlic at all. Maybe because it was smothered in gravy (which we were surprised that it was not on the side as an option to add). They have a habanero ketchup that tasted fantastic. I came in here on Sunday afternoon, a few hours after finishing the Quad Cities Half Marathon. Since it wasn't far from the finish line, the place was packed with runners. I was able to find a seat at the bar and ordered a flight. They had a great selection of beers, including some unique flavors. I didn't want to commit to the Jalapeño Pepper Ale, so one of the bartenders let me try a little sample. It wasn't too spicy, but the flavor was very powerful. Per my usual, I ordered a flight. On my flight I tried the Blueberry Uncommon which is a blueberry stout. It tasted like a blueberry coffee which was interesting, but I liked it. All the other beers I tried were very good. We came here for dinner the other night, and we're happy there was a cool patio out back. Our server was friendly and quick, which is always a plus! I had previously tried the Uncommon Stout from the local grocery store, so I tried the other dark beer they had on tap, the Neopolotan Milk Stout, and it was absolutely fantastic! It reminded me of Nesquick, actually, which I absolutely mean as a compliment. Their jalapeño poppers ("Hot Bites") weren't breaded, which makes them SO much better-they were GREAT. I liked the chipotle ranch dip that came with them, and used it with the sweet potato fries I got with my Get Bent Burger that I ordered with an egg. The burger came on a pretzel hub and was very good. Overall, it was much better than average bar food with some pretty great beer.
