We came here for dinner the other night, and we're happy there was a cool patio out back. Our server was friendly and quick, which is always a plus! I had previously tried the Uncommon Stout from the local grocery store, so I tried the other dark beer they had on tap, the Neopolotan Milk Stout, and it was absolutely fantastic! It reminded me of Nesquick, actually, which I absolutely mean as a compliment. Their jalapeño poppers ("Hot Bites") weren't breaded, which makes them SO much better-they were GREAT. I liked the chipotle ranch dip that came with them, and used it with the sweet potato fries I got with my Get Bent Burger that I ordered with an egg. The burger came on a pretzel hub and was very good. Overall, it was much better than average bar food with some pretty great beer. We went on July 4th and the food was great. We had the stuffed jalapenos they were very good and the peppers were perfectly cooked. We also ordered the Nashville Hot wings. These were very spicy and had a dry rub on them too. We got the three meat platter. Pastrami, andouille sausage and pulled pork. The only thing that I didn't enjoy was the pulled pork. It was very dry and cold. We tried a couple of beers and they were both good. The stand outs were the beans and pepper slaw. We will definitely be back. read more

Stopped in for dinner before a concert. They had a concert menu that had a variety of options and still a limited menu. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower and it was very crispy, good spice, and plenty for 3. I ordered the beer battered cod and it was very fresh and great flavor. I was in the area on Friday so I stopped in to check it out. As other reviewers have noted, the parking situation is a little tricky. I was lucky enough to find a parking spot on the street right out front, but I could see how this could get really tricky as the night goes on and it gets busier. There is a parking lot right across the street but it is posted for bank business only. Make sure to scout out public parking areas before you head down to visit. We walked in and the layout is a little peculiar. You can tell that it's two separate store fronts that they took the wall out between to open up for extra seating. It's not large, but large enough for a brewpub. Right behind the bar they have some gorgeous copper fermenters. I love the look of cooper! It's so much nicer than Stainless steel... however Stainless is easier to maintain so I understand why most brewers use it now. We had already eaten lunch so we only grabbed some appetizers to help cleanse the pallet and work as a beer sponge. My wife and I had an order of the pretzels, which was more like two small pretzel bread rolls with a stout mustard dipping sauce. Our friends ordered the fried pickle chips. Both were pretty good, but nothing great. I really cannot comment on the rest of their food. I had some really good beer from them and they do some pretty unusual beers. Unfortunately they were out of their Sweet Potato Beer. I had the Jalapeno Beer, which I loved. I like a good pepper beer. During my visit I also had the Uncommon Stout, Mississippi blonde, Strawberry ale and their specialty the Chocolate Imperial Stout. Nothing was bad, but this review is about the local not the beer. When we walked in my friend asked a couple of the regulars what they would recommend, they said the Uncommon Stout, but warned us to not try the Chocolate Imperial Stout. To quote my friend, "I do believe those ol' boys were fibbing to us in order to save it for themselves." So beware the locals, we think they try to protect their favorite beers. The prices here are on par with what you would get in most brewpubs I've visited. The service was okay at best. I'm not sure if they only had one waitress working while we were there or what but we would sit longer than we should have with empty glasses. I know that I sent her into the back to look for a shirt I was interested in purchasing, but that was once when she disappeared. I don't know what happened the other times. Service can be a little on the iffy side. What really surprised me is that this brewpub not only sold beer that was made by other craft brewers, but they had it on tap as well. I can't recall another time when I was at a brewpub that that had beers on tap that where not their own. I've seen it where they had it bottled, just not on tap. I don't know how much of it they sell. Bent River makes some really outstanding beers why would you want something you can get other places when you are there? read more

The Quad City region is blessed with great, independent breweries, creating multiple nectar of life, BIER! Within a five mile radius, four independent micro breweries bless the area. Each has its own, distinctive flavor and character. The four independent breweries (NOT chain) in order of my preference are the Great Lake, Front City Brewery, Bent River, and Blue Cat. The cost of the bier was affordable, from $3.75 to $4.00 a pint! I do not know if the citizens of the Quad City realize the how fortunate they are to have so many great independent breweries. An eclectic brewery, this was the first brewery that I visited in the area. The largest of the group, Bent River Brewery served nine different brews! I had the IPA (although it is not called IPA) - it was not excellent, but rather good. In addition to the brews, the kitchen is actually, surprising good! The special was a jerk chicken with Cuban beans, and rice - I was surprised because one does not expect such a flavorful, tasty, and exquisite cuisine at a brewery, all for $6.95! The chicken breast was not dry, and the jerk sauce was a tangy and good. The usual brewery fare was available, Cheeseburger or fish sandwich basket with fries for $3, but the Jerk chicken caught my eyes and it peaked my curiosity. The only brewery located in Moline, the Bent River Brewery is located next to the Bierstube. Construction has closed the road in front of the brewery, but ample parking is located in the rear of the brewery. Would I return? Definitely - if not to taste and enjoy the various biers, but also the creative kitchen's cuisine. read more

We headed to Bent River for Mother's Day brunch. It was my second time there and I really enjoy it. Their buffet is deceiving in the sense that it doesn't look like there's a lot to choose from but trust me, there's plenty. They had the usual pancakes, bacon and eggs. Along with brisket and, my favorite, shrimp cocktail. I'm leaving out a lot of the selection but I'll spare you and you can just check it out yourself. I also took advantage of the $2 mimosas Cus why the hell not?! My kids piled their plates high and everyone left happy. I was given a pink Bent River koozie, which was a nice surprise. The one thing that bums me out is that they don't offer milk. I understand there's probably not a huge need for milk but when you offer brunch for families, it should be an option. My youngest doesn't drink pop and thankfully likes water so he was easy to please. read more

I gave my favorite brewery 1 star on my first review. The staff was so bad that it far overshadowed the excellent beers brewed there. Since that time frame, they have new management and staff. Every time I am in the QC I stop in here. It has been nothing but top notch. The beer garden is very relaxing. They recently introduced QC haze. Possibly the best beer over ever had. This is a staple for people visiting the QC. The food is above average. I think the best choices are: the uncommon burger, tenderloin, and wings in no particular order. There are a few other things I like however there is not a menu in front of me currently. Stop in here for a flight and see which beers your like. I've been around the world and have had many different beers. This place has about 4 of my all time favorites. QC haze. De soto. Uncommon. Jalenpeno. Sweet potato. After running the Bix with some friends, we were looking for some food. This place sounded promising, and we wanted some beers. The place wasn't busy for a Saturday afternoon, and we got seats quickly. Everyone but one person liked their craft beers. It was a stout that supposedly had a very flavor to it. My coffee stout was very good, and filling like every other stout. I don't think there was a single person that didn't like their food. My girlfriend thought her salad was the bomb.com, my Sheppards's pie was delicious and filling, along with the beer bread and butter that came as a side. The friend pickle chips, fries and onion rings were all top notch sides that we all split. And the bill was manageable too. A word of warning, there's a regular Heinz bottle and a unlabeled bottle with a red sauce in it. That's homemade spicy ketchup, made with jalapeños. And for someone that likes spicy, I consider this to be mildy to mid-level spicy. If I'm ever back in the Quad cities, I'll probably stop by again! read more

My roster of Quad cities reviews continues. There are four or five breweries in the area and all are pretty decent. It was a Tuesday night and they had $2.50 pint specials for all their brewed beers. I was like a child in a candy store but unfortunately I was driving so being the responsible adult I am I capped it at two beers. Well anyway I had a Pale Ale followed by a Mississippi Blonde. Anyway, I thought their pale ale was an incredible beer. The Mississippi Blond was a crisp lighter beer. I probably should have had them in the reverse order. The crowd was, well, uh... being from Chicago I would describe it as a Clark Street Wrigleyville crowd. Youth IS wasted on the young. But at least the youth of Moline have incredible beer to go along with it. My bartender that night was Debbie and she was great. She explained the beers and offered samples. read more

So if it was just a brewery....beer only... I'd give it at least four stars. The ambiance and building itself were really great. Loved the layout, the building itself, the bar, and the overall feel of the place. Service, though a bit slow, was friendly and helpful. The beer was good - not great - but definitely good. I particularly liked the sweet potato ale. Very unique. The jalapeño ale was different, but in a good way. I have to say that we were underwhelmed with the food. The portions were particularly small, and my wife's steak was VERY dry and flavorless. She was disappointed, to say the least. My bangers and mash were passable - definitely better than the steak. The sausages were good, the "mash" seemed microwaved with some cheese thrown on top. Was hoping for a great meal. Instead I left feeling "meh," and my wife left hungry. But again, the beer was good and the space was cool. Re-vamp the kitchen - completely - and they'll be in much better shape. read more

I love the jalapeño beer here! I used to mix it with the raspberry, but lately the straight jalapeño is where it's at. Anytime I have friends in town, I make sure to bring them by for a beer. I only gave five stars because the food is just mediocre. The only thing I truly enjoy would be the pulled pork sandwich. It comes with fried pickles on it, which duh, makes it ten times better. They also get props for offering fried green beans as a side with sandwiches. If you're looking for a decent, local brew, Bent is your place. UPDATE: They completely changed the menu and went for a smoked bbq selection. It's actually really good and blow their previous menu out of the water. Definitely worth stopping in to try. read more

Beer is good and the burgers are big. Burgers have too much stuff on some of them which is a trend right now but why should the patty be the least dominating part of a burger? I gave is 3 stars for this reason and also because the food taste has gone down in the last 5 years. The dining area seems dirty too. This is a great brewery. We just missed happy hour, but we still enjoyed a cherry Berliner and I fell in love with their raspberry wheat beer. So smooth, very sweet. Loved it! The food was good. Hubby got a burger and I ordered the meatloaf sandwich. Both were great - very filling. The menu has a variety of burgers, apps, and sandwiches to choose from. There is a long bar when you first walk in the door, but if you go just beyond that, there is a dining room with booths and tables. The two ladies who waited on us were really friendly and gave us a couple of samples of the beers (there was one sour that I really liked -- Goza? Something like that.). Parking might be an issue. We were lucky to find a spot right on the street in front, but I don't believe they had their own lot. Overall, good food, great service, and excellent beer. Be sure to check them out!! read more

We went here twice, once for the beer, a second time for beer and an appetizer. Both times the beer was excellent. We drank the Uncommon Stout which has a chocolate/coffee character that all enjoyed. On the second visit, we also had the cheese ale soup. This was not at all good. We probably should have said something to the waitress but didn't. The crackers that came with the soup were stale as well. Don't make our mistake. Speak up. I bet if we did, the situation would have been corrected. The location has a nice beer garden as well as indoor seating. They also sell 6 packs of their beer for carry out sales. We bought some more stout (what else) as well as an unusual Jalapeno beer. Give this one a try. It is unusual. I think 1 is all I need at a seating but we did finish the 6 pack over the course of 3 days. read more

In the quad cities area for a bowling tournament and needed to find a good place for dinner that served quality food and beers. Was recommended this place by Yelp and another person who lived in the area. So took a trip over Saturday evening. This is a cool little place in downtown Moline. Parking mostly consists of small lots across the street or street parking. My only real complaint about the parking is on a Saturday evening the lots were all full so we had to park on the street about two blocks south. By the time we left around 9:30 our group of three heading back to the car was approached and hassled by a group of people asking for money. I know it's not the fault of the restaurant but if you are going there later in the evening try to find parking as close as you can and definitely don't park a couple of blocks south as it gets sketchy. I usually like to give a review of the insides and the bar but because we were sitting in a large group I never really got a chance to scope out the bar area. We were seated in the dining room which did have several TVs with baseball and basketball on. It's a nice laid back atmosphere. Our food overall was decent. I got the bangers and mash and I kind of thought the sausages were a little overcooked and dry. They had good flavor but they just seemed a little tough. The mashed potatoes were also kind of dry. I don't know if that's how they normally serve the bangers and mash but it wasn't really the best I had eaten. My wife and another in the party got fried chicken and they both liked it. The beers were good however. I had a mango habenero DIPA which was quite nice. A little spicy but the mango and higher ABV tamed it a little. Also had a couple of their more regular offerings. Both were satisfying. Bent River seems like a good choice for food and beers in the area. Although I wasn't exactly satisfied with my meal others in my group were so I will just pass it off as a bad night. Just make sure you get a close place to park. read more

If you truly do prefer the watered-down style and mediocre recipes that get cranked out of this brewery, save yourself the trouble and go by a 6 pack at Hyvee. If you would prefer a knowledgeable and full service microbrewery experience, and have any sort of slightly refined palate, you'll find yourself making yourself more comfortable at any other local brew pub: Radicle Effect, Blue Cat, Great River are great examples. The service is absolutely terrible. Food is mediocre at best. Ownership is corrupt. Although management has been on a perpetual winding downhill for the past few years, I feel at this point, they have quite possibly reached an all-time low. Bonus points for asking your server any question about beer. Bonus Bonus points for asking if it's Pie Rush Wednesday. Combination bonus points if you make it out with an actual piece of pie. read more

This place gets a low rating because I went in twice over the last five years, and both time the waitstaff charged me for beers I did not order or drink. I know that because I don't drink.
