Our experience at Flips was excellent! It's an adorable and fresh place with a grass wall and unique modern light fixtures. The service was outstanding. We had multiple people checking on us at frequent (but not TOO frequent) intervals, refilling our drinks and making sure we were happy and taken care of. AND THE FOOD! So delish! It's difficult to find good breakfast place in rural areas because they usually have fast foods with drive-thru. Glad to see this restaurant on one of my drive to work. Greeter and also the waitress was friendly even early in the morning:) I had their poached egg avocado toast on toasted sourdough bread. That was delicious. I had to try their pancake since the restaurant's name says flip pancakes! Thank god I could order just 1 since it was huge that it almost covered a plate. This was close to where we are staying and my mom likes the place. My opinion is that it's an ok breakfast place. Mostly bland, skillets were ok but the hash browns are really dry and unseasoned. Pancakes way too sweet. My daughter tried the banana pancakes and they tasted like imitation flavoring with tons of sugar. It's always busy, the locals love it. Wowza - GREAT breakfast in the QCA. We went in late in the morning on a Monday and grabbed a booth. We got in our orders and our food came out quickly. I got the Denver Omelet - it was HUGE and came with very fresh, tasty hash browns, and amazing pancakes. Now, I'm not a big pancake eater, and I was doing my best to finish these, which was not easy job given the mound of omelet, potatoes and pancakes that came as my meal. My wife got the Veggie Omelet, which was also a LOT of food, and very fresh and tasty. She opted for the fresh fruit for her side, which lightened things up a bit - it was also fresh and savory. Our server checked in frequently, and the service was the quick and efficient as you'd expect in this type of establishment. As a bonus, this establishment is in a building that was a bar for many years and one that I frequented over 40 years ago - kind of a nice touch for me at least! This was my first time at the restaurant and I ordered the one egg breakfast with hash browns, bacon and pancakes. The first thing I noticed was the fatty bacon, a complete turn off. Which only made me curious about the rest of my breakfast. To my delight the pancakes had a nice vanilla flavor. And the hash browns were average. The bacon as I expected was horrible. As I stated it was extremely fatty and the flavor was just as bad. In my opinion it was just a very cheap grade of bacon with a strong porky flavor. Looking for a nice breakfast this cold October Saturday and found Flip's on Yelp. The parking lot was full at 8 am, but I got a table right away. The place was steady with lots of local customers who knew the staff. There were a lot of tearful goodbyes that made me feel sad. Obviously this place has a large following and will be missed. I started off with the coffee which was average. Then I got the Grand Slam which is everything that an awesome breakfast should include. Three eggs sunny side up, crispy bacon, two sausage links, delicious ham, hash browns, and two amazing fluffy pancakes. The eggs were perfect, excellent bacon, tasty sausage links, the ham was lean with a wonderful flavor, the hash browns were crispy and seamed to go great with the eggs. The pancakes were so delicious, fluffy with amazing flavor. The warm syrup just cranked these cakes up a notch to spectacular. The staff were very nice and friendly. I was sad to see the sign on the door, but thankful that I got to have an amazing breakfast before they close. read more

The kids got French toast with bacon and a waffle made with bacon which they both ate all of so it must have been good! My husband got the Denver omelette that he said was loaded with stuff and really good and tasty. I got the BLT omelette which had a sliced avocado on top and was really good. The pancakes were outstanding! We often frequent IHOP, and these pancakes were much fluffier and better than theirs!
