I love going to the Tasty Cafe as every time I have went in to get a meal I have never been disappointed. From the atmosphere to the great food one can never go wrong to stop and enjoy the great food there. On top of that when one goes in the smiles on the faces and cheerful greetings of the dining help make it more enjoyable. It is my go to place for when I have out of town company or whether it is someone from town. I'm not a regular, but that shouldn't matter. Today after PT in Eldridge I chose to buy lunch for my driver so she suggested tasty cafe ! I thought that sounded good ! The place was busy , but not over crowded. The daily special was fried cod with fries , salad and coleslaw. And I chose a cup of vegetable soup. Well the soup was Hot but it looked over cooked actually looked like left overs from the day before ! When the fish dinner came out it looked good ! How ever the fish was cooked to long and hard to chew , more like crunchy batter over cooked and the fish was rubbery ! Not the kind of meal expected from a small town cafe like this especially after being name one of the best restaurants in QCA !! read more

I went to this restaurant at a recommendation from business associate in Eldridge. I ordered the Farmers Benedict which was like Eggs Benedict except with sausage. When the dish arrived, it was covered with instant and flavorless hollandaise sauce (if you could call it that). The poached eggs underneath looked nice, but were so raw the whites were still clear. The waitress offered to take it back, which I let her do. It arrived slightly more cooked, but still extremely over easy. The sausage underneath the eggs was of one of the lowest quality I have ever tasted. Even the Army serves higher quality sausage than this. The English muffin I believe was cold and not toasted. I had fruit on the side which was out of season and not sweet at all. The whole dish was $16. I ate about half of it and left being $20 poorer and still hungry. I would have been better off to go through McDonald's and get an Egg McMuffin. I will not try this again. I only left one star because the waitress was sweet and kind. read more

A breakfast gem in Eastern Iowa! We sought out the Tasty Cafe in Eldridge, Iowa after seeing the positive ratings and reviews. We are 'Breakfast People' and we wanted a great breakfast on our way back to Michigan. The full parking lot and many local plates told us we had made a good choice. The friendly host seated us in a comfortable booth after a short wait. We noticed the happy smiles and lively conversation of our fellow diners. We also noticed the wonderful cleanliness throughout. Our breakfast was delicious. The Eggs Benedict were among the best I have ever had. And the Hollandaise Sauce was indeed the best I've encountered. The Biscuits & Gravy is my new favorite. The gravy was so smooth and silky and was not gritty nor was it floury. Delicious! We will be back. read more

Portion sizes are good, but make sure your food is warm before the server walks away otherwise you'll be stuck with cold food like I was. Got there an hour and a half before close, took 15 minutes to get our server to even come over to the table. Great place to grab good food. I ordered the chicken Cesar wrap and French fries. The wrap came with soup of the day which was chicken noodle soup. The soup used shell noodles. I didn't see any chicken but it was tasty. The food came out hot and delicious soon afterward. My friend ordered the spinach pie with cottage cheese. Both of our meals were great. This new place in Eldridge was pretty good. The place is spacious and clean and the food was VERY good. I got the biscuits and gravy skillet and was satisfied with it. Their coffee was good also. The owner came around and talked with visitors and asked how we heard about them and how the food/service was. The only thing that was a little off-putting was the waitress eating chips near the drink station in front of everyone. April 24, 2022 a friend and I visited a local cafe in Eldridge, IA. She was running behind, however minutes after I was seated, a man, the owner approached me, asking if I was going to order. I said that I was waiting for someone. A few minutes later my friend arrived. The waitress took our order, we ate, enjoyed conversation, and time had passed. The same man approached our table asking when we were leaving, which was confusing because there were open tables to seat customers. He approached us 3 more times telling us that we needed to leave and even told a lady that was near our table that we wouldn't leave. My friend and I felt harassed by a relentless, unprofessional bully. Had there been people waiting for an open table, I would've understood his concerns however we were not being disruptive, unreasonable or inconsiderate just paying customers that left a generous tip. I felt like I had a Will Smith/Chris Rock moment, because if I would've been a man, I seriously doubt that he would've approached us in the same manner or approached us at all. read more
