Food was incredible. Authentic and flavorful. Soup was a nice level of spicy. Black eyed peas savory and perfectly prepared. Sweet cornbread was sublime. The service is friendly and authentic. Do not support this business. Bea was incredibly rude to us. After simply asking a clarifying question, Bea jumped into saying incredibly hurtful, nasty, and contemptuous things to us, even making one of our group run to a bathroom to cry. I was stunned, I actually couldn't believe someone could be so unapologetically mean. You would think someone running their own business would know how to speak kindly to others. This was never our experience with Aunt Bea, which was totally unacceptable. I mean this with every fiber of my being: I would never recommend Aunt Beas Cafe to anyone, simply due to how its business owner treats strangers. People deserve kindness and patience, not insults and fear. I only wish we had it on video. There isn't a food, nor frankly an apology in this world good enough to make up for the terrible and spiteful way she made our friends feel. Aunt Bea's is the true definition of don't judge a book by its cover. This Rock Island staple will be celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and is definitely worth the visit. We ordered the biscuits and gravy just to try because other customers were raving about them and boy did they not disappoint. Made from scratch and they are probably the best I have had. I then ordered a bacon double cheeseburger and dinner salad. I am not a huge burger fan at all and I absolutely loved it. Full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The salad was good as well. Aunt Bea's Cafe is housed in a quaint little building down on 11th street that looks like it would be at home in a movie set in the 60's. We went there for lunch last week, and the service was good. I wanted to order chicken but was gently urged by Bea to make a different selection, as it apparently takes a long time to cook. I suspect that, perhaps, the fryer was turned off. My second choice was a meatloaf sandwich. The meatloaf was good, but next time I'll probably skip the bread, as it didn't add much to the meal. Prices were reasonable. Next time we come I'm getting that chicken AND some of the peach cobbler, which looked looked delicious. read more

My sister and I stopped here today for lunch. My sister had been here several times before, with her husband but I had never been. Let me walked in the door there was a little chalkboard telling you what was the specials of the day. They had jambalaya with rice and a corn muffin for 795. I decided it was a cold day in that sounded great. My sister got a cheeseburger and fries. Her cheeseburger was done exactly the way she likes it with a Toasted Bun and a burger cooked on the grill. It was nice and Christy. My jambalaya was absolutely delicious. Good and spicy, West loads of onion and vegetables. Leave her it couldn't have been better. It was good in hot and temperature as well as spicy and flavor. You can order and have GrubHub deliver, or you can order and pick it up yourself. We chose to dine in and we're delighted with the service and the waitress who was very friendly. You also can interact with the owner Bea. This was overall a great experience with friendly people. Had to try this place out. The lady who runs this place (Aunt Bea) is a very nice lady. She is great with kids. The food is real home style cooking. This place is what it is .. a small diner that has been a mainstay of the neighbourhood for several years. Nothing fancy, from the building itself, to the decor. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by Bea who was busy putting a pick up order together. After looking over the menu and asking a couple of questions, we were surprised that she offered us samples to taste. We both ordered catfish filets with sides of red beans, mac-n-cheese, collard greens and black eyed peas. Everything cooked to order, fresh and very tasty. Also ordered the banana milk shake and peach cobbler. Very much enjoyed the meal and listening to Bea chatting with neighbourhood patrons.
