I just had breakfast at this place this morning and I was just Blown Away by how SMALL the portions were and how HIGH the prices were. I had 2 eggs 2 sausage 2 tiny pancake's and an order of hashbrowns. The pancakes were smaller than my hand. Village Inn used to mine and my family's go to place to eat all the time. But after last night it was sadly our last. It wasn't the service, because that was fine. The rest was actually clean for a change and brighter than it had be in years. But it was the one thing that always brought you back the food and coffee! Let's start with the menu. This thing went from a traditional 3 fold menu with clean text, descriptions of the menu items, and pictures with lots of choices. To a 12"x11" menu card with no pitchers, a small and hard to read font, with unclear pricing for the dish. Their is not a lot of selections anyway and the ride of build your own meal as there way of saying that they might have a selection, of course 1/3 of that menu is higher priced and limit 1 per order. Not to mention the prices for what you're getting are outrageous. Now I am, along time patron of this restaurant. I have ate here since moving to the QCA in 1982. my wife worked in this restaurant when at one time too. So, I really do know this place. I am a long time country fried steak and eggs (cfs&e) order here. I got that last night my wife and I split that with it having hash browns and scrambled eggs with cheese. We both also had a cup of coffee too and took home a slice of pecan pie. First the stake was just like a school lunch frozen cfs only slightly larger and tasted the same. The hash browns were ok, were no bigger than a 2.5" diameter per half & the eggs were rubbery. The pancakes I unfortunately didn't eat at the restaurant, but they look dark, were very firm and when I placed in a togo box with syrup uncut for 10 min they didn't absorb any liquid at all. Not even the half pancakes from the kitchen. The price!! When done the bill was $33 for 1 meal costing $13.25, two coffee $3.25 ($6.50) and Pecan pie slice $4.59 add cheese to our eggs??? Price was not listed on menu. $24.34 plus tax,&the extra cheese. We ask for extra palate, but the kitchen split the meal themselves. If they up charged because of that then we weren't told about it. Tip was cash. Village inn has changed hands twice and each time it has not been for the good. The first time gave the restaurants a facelift at the cost of a smaller menu. The second time was was at the cost of food quality to that of a school cafeteria at their higher gathering place type restaurant setting. To bad. It was my last straw. Everything needs to be looked at here seriously, the manager was a complete asshole, we told him the eggs were not even done there was some liquid coming from the egg, the hashbrowns were overdone he had a whole cow about that one he was basically screaming at me and my wife I am not feeling the greatest told him about that one he said what do you want me to do it looks like you ate the whole food we can't do nothing, yes you can as the management you have to make things right, because the customer is always right and the thing that set me off the is that he said wow 71 dollars that's a lot for you. No one needs to be treated like like that you go to have a nice breakfast not to get criticized and be ridicule d by the manager by all people not coming back here I advise everyone else to not go unless you want your whole family to have a severe stomach problem. read more

Holy crap how this 2 million dollar store has plummeted in quality and service. The hostess/supervisor seated us and that part was ok I guess, didn't welcome us to Village Inn, honestly didn't seem to care that much. The server came over and took our drink order. We were waiting for another person to come so the fact that we had to wait for a while for our drinks wasn't that big of a deal. Don't remember our server's name but it started with an S I think. Two of the drinks we had tasted horrible and we asked if we can get something else instead, which we did but the old drinks were not taken away, just left on the table. Is pre bussing not taught anymore? I also didn't get a refill until I had finished with my food already. Now on to the state of the restaurant. Wallpaper falling off the walls by 105, men's room was gross and had tiles falling off the walls, mold on two of the pies that were on display. Dirty tables that the hostess could've helped with... She was busy though hitting her vape outside about 4 times during our hour ish visit. They didn't have to wait long, but people did wait to be greeted while she was outside numerous times during our visits. The prices are through the roof though that's everywhere I guess. The fries on one of the orders were cold, and the sandwich was as well. The other order had hot fries and a sandwich so it's obvious which one was made first. Makes me wonder if all that VVC that they used to teach is still a thing? Take some damn pride in the appearance of your restaurant. Vi's are usually pretty good....disappointed here. We have eaten at others in the area before, but not this one. How they could be out of ham for a ham and cheese omelet, that's a first, beyond me. Not in the 50 years I've been eating out for breakfast and that includes a lot restaurants. You're a restaurant and known for breakfast even and you have no ham, go figure. The hash browns that came with both our breakfasts were totally dried out, cold, horrible. We could both manage maybe two bites. Those were a fail. Both of the eggs my was served were not cooked as ordered. The pancakes seemed like they would be OK on their own, but something seemed off with the flavor of the syrup....not sure. The biscuit and gravy was pretty good. It's better than what you might find at some in QCA, in our opinion. My omelet was OK, less the ham, as just a cheese omelet. They just don't seem to have enough going for them in their favor that we would ever stop here again. read more

I love coming here in the early morning. The decor is bright. The booths are comfortable. The wi-fi is free. The service is excellent. I come here very early every Sunday I'm preaching, and I love it. The food is adequate, and for ten bucks it's not a bad value. That being said, I'm not a big fan of VI after breakfast. In my lifetime I've often needed a place to land for a late night meal after a night of working long hours, debauchery, or just in case of an extremely delayed supper. In these instances, Village Inn has almost always been there for me. It all started right here, at this Village Inn in Moline, Illinois. I've had a couple of opportunities to return to my roots recently, and although they've done away with the smoking section and updated the interior, not much has changed. I love Village Inn's strawberry crepes. They are so good but at $10 a plate, not particularly budget friendly. When I tried to order a couple sans undercooked hash browns and mediocre bacon, the waitress advised against it, as they are $4 each a la carte. Why!? Her recommendation? I should learn to make my own. On my last visit I got a milkshake, a classic relic of my youth. In addition to the big glass of milkshake topped with whipped cream, THEY BRING YOU OUT A SILVER CUP OF EXTRA MILKSHAKE. It was just as amazing as I had remembered, but when the conversation I was having with a friend ran long and I ordered a cup of coffee, I was billed $3. For just 99 cents more I could have had a whole new milkshake, bonus shake included. Of course the menu is huge at Village Inn and runs the gamut of breakfast to dinner to pie. So much pie. While there are many options available, there is no one thing that they do better than anybody else in the business and as I've pointed out, the prices are far from competitive. Which isn't to say that I'll never return; as long as they have late hours and I have late nights, I'll come back to Village Inn again and again. read more

This Village Inn, for a bunch of high school kids long ago, was a desert oasis. We were usually too broke or too cheap to drop any money at the movies, go-karts, or any of the three other things to do in the Quad Cities, but we always had a few extra bucks for a piece of pie here. This was our Peach Pit. I hope it's exactly the same. A friend of mine once ordered the Denver Omelette here, and he may or may not have soiled himself in a track meet the next day. My friends and I were seated right away but we were not greeted. We waited at the table for 20 minutes before walking out. 4 different servers passed our table at least 15 times total and nobody asked if we had been helped or offered to find our server or grab us drinks. One server even went to the tables in front and back of us but not ours. Maybe she had been cut I don't know the whole situation but she should have at least offered to find us a server. The host passed our table after seating us at least 4 times and never said anything to us or offered to find a server. Finally we got up to leave and the manager watched us walk out and didn't say a word to us. Went to the other village inn in moline and everything was so much better!! Sunday lunch time we had very friendly service (although the host could could have paid more attention to the customers and not talking to her co-workers) and food was delicious. The VI holds quite a bit of sentiment in my hear because it was always the gathering spot for our crew in high school. When in need of a quick bite in the morning, or in the wee hours of the morning, this is a place to visit. As for a recommendation on the menu..... I only order the French Skillet! This place is an absolute joke. The employees sit in the customer seating making sure to do as little as possible all the while not helping after being served. Three times in a row I have gone there and not received any service after my meal was given to me, which means I sat at my booth with an empty drink and the server would come by and drop off the check and dash off. It was 2 in the afternoon, I was one of 10 people there each time. And the employees will talk trash to your face about someone else in your party. My mother was with me and complained the bathrooms were atrocious (had shit on the toilet seats in the womens and unisex) and brought this up nicely to the lady at checkout. After my mother had left the associate spoke to another associate about how some crazy lady who was my girlfriend or sister had a complaint about the bathroom, they said this right in front of me.
