Village Inn used to mine and my family's go to place to eat all the time. But after last night it was sadly our last. It wasn't the service, because that was fine. The rest was actually clean for a change and brighter than it had be in years. But it was the one thing that always brought you back the food and coffee! Let's start with the menu. This thing went from a traditional 3 fold menu with clean text, descriptions of the menu items, and pictures with lots of choices. To a 12"x11" menu card with no pitchers, a small and hard to read font, with unclear pricing for the dish. Their is not a lot of selections anyway and the ride of build your own meal as there way of saying that they might have a selection, of course 1/3 of that menu is higher priced and limit 1 per order. Not to mention the prices for what you're getting are outrageous. Now I am, along time patron of this restaurant. I have ate here since moving to the QCA in 1982. my wife worked in this restaurant when at one time too. So, I really do know this place. I am a long time country fried steak and eggs (cfs&e) order here. I got that last night my wife and I split that with it having hash browns and scrambled eggs with cheese. We both also had a cup of coffee too and took home a slice of pecan pie. First the stake was just like a school lunch frozen cfs only slightly larger and tasted the same. The hash browns were ok, were no bigger than a 2.5" diameter per half & the eggs were rubbery. The pancakes I unfortunately didn't eat at the restaurant, but they look dark, were very firm and when I placed in a togo box with syrup uncut for 10 min they didn't absorb any liquid at all. Not even the half pancakes from the kitchen. The price!! When done the bill was $33 for 1 meal costing $13.25, two coffee $3.25 ($6.50) and Pecan pie slice $4.59 add cheese to our eggs??? Price was not listed on menu. $24.34 plus tax,&the extra cheese. We ask for extra palate, but the kitchen split the meal themselves. If they up charged because of that then we weren't told about it. Tip was cash. Village inn has changed hands twice and each time it has not been for the good. The first time gave the restaurants a facelift at the cost of a smaller menu. The second time was was at the cost of food quality to that of a school cafeteria at their higher gathering place type restaurant setting. To bad. It was my last straw. I am not even going to talk about the coffee, just that it was not what it used to be.

Holy crap how this 2 million dollar store has plummeted in quality and service. The hostess/supervisor seated us and that part was ok I guess, didn't welcome us to Village Inn, honestly didn't seem to care that much. The server came over and took our drink order. We were waiting for another person to come so the fact that we had to wait for a while for our drinks wasn't that big of a deal. Don't remember our server's name but it started with an S I think. Two of the drinks we had tasted horrible and we asked if we can get something else instead, which we did but the old drinks were not taken away, just left on the table. Is pre bussing not taught anymore? I also didn't get a refill until I had finished with my food already. Now on to the state of the restaurant. Wallpaper falling off the walls by 105, men's room was gross and had tiles falling off the walls, mold on two of the pies that were on display. Dirty tables that the hostess could've helped with... She was busy though hitting her vape outside about 4 times during our hour ish visit. They didn't have to wait long, but people did wait to be greeted while she was outside numerous times during our visits. The prices are through the roof though that's everywhere I guess. The fries on one of the orders were cold, and the sandwich was as well. The other order had hot fries and a sandwich so it's obvious which one was made first. Makes me wonder if all that VVC that they used to teach is still a thing? Take some damn pride in the appearance of your restaurant. I get it's a Monday mid morning level of business but this place needs more attention paid to it. Does ABRH even do secret shoppers anymore?

This place is a dump. It's pretty hard to fuck up breakfast but they somehow managed to do so. This place was horrible avoid it like the plague.

    All together $10.02 with tax.

I love coming here in the early morning. The decor is bright. The booths are comfortable. The wi-fi is free. The service is excellent. I come here very early every Sunday I'm preaching, and I love it. The food is adequate, and for ten bucks it's not a bad value. That being said, I'm not a big fan of VI after breakfast. Lunch is okay, but I stay away for dinner.

I was tasked with finding a place close to our hotel and this one sounded like what both Emily and I were craving. We got there a bit before 9am and were greeted with a 30-40 minute wait time. Since there probably would've been a wait time anywhere else, we gave them our name, number and headed back to the car to chill. Not even 15 minutes later, we got the call to come in and have some breakfast. Since we had time to kill in the car, we planned out our orders before we went back in so we were able to order right away. Emily got the Western Skillet and I got the Western Omelet. For how busy it was, the food took no more than 10 minutes to come out and it was a lot more than I was expecting. For an omelet, this thing must've had like 12 eggs in it. Same for Emily's skillet, it was served in a bit pan and it was filled with so much food. One of the reasons we picked this place is because they are known for their cinnamon roll pancakes. Emily got some for her side and I cautioned her that since its a side pancake, it might be normal ones. Turns out, it was the normal ones but good god, the one bit I had of them was heavenly. Turns out, the whole meal was mostly divine. The omelet could've had a bit more flavor to it but a little bit of salt and pepper helped bring it to life. Emily really liked her food but found the ham in her skillet to be a bit too bland for her taste. The food here was super good and a great value for what you paid. On top of that, the entire staff was super friendly and professional and handled the breakfast crowd like veterans in spite of the young ages of the staff. As we drove around the Quad Cities the day before, I pointed out the million different pancake houses to Emily, so, its funny and fitting that we ended up going to one for breakfast the next day... and what a good one we selected. They must really like their pancakes up there. I might have to add a few of them to my list of places to check out next time we are up here.

My partner and I were traveling to Quad Cities on a little day trip. We came across Pee Wee's on Yelp and decided we should give it a try. One of the greatest decisions we've ever made. A cute little corner establishment, the owner, Big Will, was behind the counter taking orders. We got the 2 piece white meat chicken, cornbread, greens, mac & cheese, candied yams, red beans & rice, peach cobbler, and a slice of sweet potato pie. All of this totaled ~ $40 and was a perfect filling meal for 2 people. While we waited, Big Will chatted us up. He started Pee Wee's 8 years ago, made it through the challenges of a pandemic, and now runs the restaurant as a takeout only place. Need somewhere to sit? Take Big Will's recommendation (with excellent analog directions provided) and eat alongside the river just a few minutes down the road. With some of the most breathtaking views of the Mississippi in front of us, my partner and I sat in our car and dug into the most insanely good meal. The chicken was so juicy and beautifully seasoned. The yams were like all the flavors of fall in a cup. The greens were indescribably good. The red beans & rice was excellent. The peach cobbler was a treat. I really cannot recommend this place enough. I was smiling through the whole meal. I'm smiling writing this review remembering it :)

If service is a bit slow, give them a break, place is often crowded with tables constantly turning, but they never rush you. When weather permits, there's a nice patio. I keep reading "friendly service". I'd say actually it's a bit brusque. It's midwestern friendly, the blank face kind that's waiting to make sure you're not a jerk, or let you know they don't put up with them. But the service is excellent They should give up the counter seating for customers and call it "kitchen view" imho ha I don't want to say this for fear they raise prices, but very affordable. Tip them well. I've gone all around the menu and the only items I personally don't return to are the flatbreads, just not my thing. I opt instead for their sandwiches, salmon tacos, breakfast items, soups. It's all very good. Thanks, Brew!

I opted for the steak fries as I wanted a thicker cut however they were more like a thick wedge and closer to potato wedge, they were still good however I tasted my boyfriends seasoned fries and they were way better they reminded me of the type of fries that they serve at five guys the fries were a 10 out of 10! A real homestyle fresh cut tasting fry. Actually the steak was 10/10 too. Sons kids cheeseburger looked great. Boyfriend got the Reuben and I've never had one before but I seen that corned beef coming out of his Sammie and it was tender and absolutely delicious. The whole sandwich was good despite the fact I don't care for rye bread. We added the salad bar with three soups and salad for an additional $4.50 not bad, the Philly cheesesteak chowder was good, a bit rich for a meal for me but seasoned well and very good. Next was a turkey tortilla soup, so it was like a take on the chicken tortilla soup loaded with some black beans and corn I thought it was a light good soup. Finally was the lobster bisque, boyfriend liked it, I'm not a lobster girl. Boyfriend randomly got a plate of red Potato salad and macaroni salad both which were 10/10. Red potato salad had hearty big red pieces of potato and the mac salad had a nice sweet taste, overall nice dining experience can't wait to go back and try other things!
