Dead Poet's was another incredible YELP find. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers for your reviews We were in Moline for a concert at The Vibrant so I slept in the morning after. I woke up hungry and ready for a cup of coffee. I was especially pleased to walk in to have a treat and found live music in this great spot. My hubby joined me after his golf game and we sat there enjoying delicious sandwiches and coffee. My only negatives were the service was questionable and the coffees were way too hot. Mine bordered on bitter. The gentleman delivering orders spent too much time going from table to table trying to figure how who the food belonged to. There is a cute patio but we chose to stay in and enjoy the music. read more

Dead Poet's Espresso was along the way for our family road trip to Des Moines, Iowa and it is just around the corner from the John Deere Pavilion. We stopped by and ordered the following: 1) Dickinson: Tiramisu Mocha 2) Kipling: Lavenmint Latte 3) Spinach, Egg, Gouda on Croissant 4) Pork & Curds 12" Wrap (grilled) 5) Southwest wrap 6) Carnitas Enchiladas (2) We did not enjoy the Kipling because the espresso and lavender was weak and the overall drink was heavily spiced. I stopped in right at closing-a little after - and they were so sweet - he unlocked the door and made me an iced raspberry mocha. Oh. My. God was it good. I wish I would've taken a pic but I slurped it up too fast. I bought a cool tshirt because their name is pretty epic and the material was soft and good quality. Next time I'm in town I'll be popping in to try their food, which looked delicious from the menu. Lots of options! And I love the brick building and cozy atmosphere inside. Yelp menu is incorrect! Went in to order a potato breakfast burrito and was told that wasn't on the menu since 2016! Cashier was a blunt man, telling me that they have no control over the Yelp listing and that Yelp had actually stolen money from the business. I looked over the menu and ordered the breadless option, which I think is called the lavish. Pictured below. I'm not the best at figuring if a meal is a good price, the lavish was 9$ and seemingly a two egg wrap with two slices of bacon with cheddar cheese, tomatoes and pepperoncini. Loved the bite with the pepperoncini. Usual saltiness from bacon and cheddar was nice. Lacked flavor otherwise. Boring. The business itself, though, is not boring. The large space is full with literary pictures and references, and with more than half of a dozen patrons dining in- the space was peaceful. read more

Hip coffee house located in downtown Moline. It feels like it doesn't belong here because it's too cool, for real. Dead Poet's Espresso has a literature theme going on with Shakespeare and other famous figures. For sure it's good for book nerds. There's also food like bagels and pastries. Came in the morning to get a buzz. It has a list of specialty coffees. These are all made with milk powder so I skipped these. Instead got a latte. It's about $5 for a medium. Then add a bit more for non dairy milk and syrup. Also got a bagel. It's about $3 with a spread. Has cream cheese of course. There's also peanut butter and jelly. Good stop in at breakfast. It's one of the hipper places in town to be honest. This is only open in the morning and afternoons, and it's closed on Sundays. read more

Super friendly employee who suggested a sandwich I probably never would have ordered and it was delicious! I loved the sweet potato chips served with it too. I came for an early lunch and beat the lunch rush, but it did get busy. During the peak time a man played the piano for patrons, adding to the ambiance. While I ate inside as I need to do some work and have wifi access, there are tables outside that look out on a nice courtyard type area. Easy parking too. As I've walked around Moline, it's a weird feeling that I was the only person on the streets. It seems deserted and so a visit to Dead Poet's Espresso seemed appropriate. While waiting for my espresso and Sweet Southwest Breakfast Wrap (eggs, corn mix, pepperoncini, chipotle cheese curds wrapped in a tomato basil tortilla), I enjoyed the images of dead poets like William Shakespeare and Edgar Allen Poe drinking coffee. The latte was well made. The wrap was creative and filling but it needs some fine tuning on the sauce. Although I was the only patron, I took a look at the piano in the corner and imagined that, at least sometimes, this cafe must fill up with music and people. read more

So..today up early and felt that a good cup of Joe was needed. So I stumbled upon this little store tucked into the nooks of the building . I walked in, and the aroma was swirling in the air, and I knew it was the right place. Walked to the counter, which is in the back corner and greated promptly. Took my order as a "redeye" 6 shots of espresso and filled the rest with amazingly good coffee. The place seems like it does make our lives extraordinary with their cup of joe. read more

Such good espresso drinks. We were traveling for work and stayed here a week so I tried a few of their specialty hot drinks.

If you are a lover of (non-chain) coffee shops and are ever in Moline, IL - I highly recommend you step through the doors of Dead Poet's Espresso and and wrap your hands around one of their beverages while enjoying their wall portraits of poets past. The walls a decorated with portraits of Shakespeare ,Poe Tennyson ,Browning, Thoreau, Kipling, Dickinson and more. The portraits are "masked up" supporting stopping the spread of Covid-19, even Poe's crow! During my visit I enjoyed a large red eye (drip brew & espresso). It was just the kick start I needed to get my morning of to a great start. Thank you Dead Poet's Espresso for a wonderful coffee experience. With a strong theme and a weak coffee, this cafe is less Tennyson than it is Ginsberg; a lot of bluster for a little payoff. While the mood and decor of the coffee shop provided a strong opening stanza, the momentum was lost when the unbalanced and backbone-less coffee was served. The burrito was very tasty, but on the whole it is hard to recommend this confident but very uneven composition. read more

Also they only have medium and large sizes, and I'm more of a small coffee drinker. But overall a fine stop for some coffee! DON'T ORDER DELIVERY! Just got an order delivered through GrubHub and it's an absolute joke. Ordered half buffalo chicken salad, add carrots and cucumbers, no tomatoes, and sub Asiago peppercorn cheese curds for the chipotle curds. Order was delivered quickly(about 30 minutes), and I pull out a small plastic container with my salad. No cucumbers, no carrots, definitely chipotle cheese curds not Asiago peppercorn. There's a tiny handful of lettuce under the buffalo chicken, curds and tortilla strips. Including the tip I paid $7 for this tiny little salad that they couldn't even make right. Figured I'd give this place a try cause I work not far from it. My bad... won't ever try it again and will not recommend. read more

This was just a pitstop on our way from Calgary to Pittsburgh by motorcycle. We stayed at the casino the night before. We opted to stop here because there was a veggie option...coffee was good....veggie bagel was "whatever". It's definitely got a LOT of regulars who like to hang out there, older folks with crazy opinions. That was about the best part of this place - eavesdroppers delight lol.
