It's clean and a little noisy, but on par with most breakfast spots. Service was good and friendly, but what I was most impressed by was the food came out fairly quickly and really hot. My daughter and I split the Southern Chicken Sandwich and fries. Sandwich had amazing flavor. The fries could have used some salt. My wife had a half order of biscuits and gravy with an egg, which she loved. My son had the chocolate chip pancakes, which he devoured. Prices were reasonable. Why does this place have only 4.2 stars? My family of five ate here last year and it was amazing--so we came back again, and it's just as good, if not even better than we remembered, even a year later. The service is genuinely outstanding, and the food is exactly what we expected and more. Even though the restaurant was packed, we were seated right away. We had a group of seven and first tried Jimmy's Pancake House, which had a 45-minute wait. We then went to Flips, where the wait was 40 minutes. Finally, we tried Stacks, which had no wait, and we were seated at 10:15 a.m. After ordering, our food arrived about 30 minutes later. My skillet tasted good at first, but then I noticed a hair in it. While I understand that mistakes can happen, I informed our server, who apologized and said he would bring me a new skillet. A few minutes later, the server returned with the same skillet, explaining that the owner had looked at it, didn't see a hair, and believed it was probably just cheese. He then set the same skillet back down and told me the owner would not remake my food. I asked the server to take it away, as I did not want to eat it. I still had a side of pancakes, so I ate those instead. A short while later, another server came to the table--apparently sent by the owner--to ask what was wrong and if there was anything she could do. I told her no, as I had lost my appetite. About five minutes later, our original server returned with the bill and the owner's business card, explaining that the owner had still charged me for the skillet. I gave the card back and asked the server to let the owner know we would not be returning. I would have understood being charged for the pancakes, but charging for a meal I didn't eat shows very poor customer service. It's disappointing, and it's likely one of the reasons the restaurant had no wait. In my opinion, the owner is his own worst enemy. Owners name Bill Abduli. The server was great. read more

Went to Stacks for the first time today. By far the best hashbrowns I've had in the QC. They actually understand what the word CRISPY means. The only thing that I was a little disappointed in was the gravy. While I'm sure they mix it there; it wasn't scratch. Chopped up sausage links don't belong in sausage gravy. They have good food and we love their crepes. BUT...have rarely (never?) felt so unwelcome at a restaurant even before we were seated. Which, we weren't. A table for 2 means one small table. Three tables open and they would not seat us until our entire party arrived. Nope, no table for you! I'm not talking about a table for 6 or 8 which takes a lot of floor space, but the same table size no matter of it was a party of 1 or 2. I could have lied and said "table for 1, please", been seated, then had my husband show up and surprise me! But I chose to be honest, so yep, you can just stand at the door and we'll get consideration as a customer on their terms. I don't know the reason for the policy and am certain they feel it is justified or works within their business model. It does not work within my service model and I will be hard pressed to choose a restaurant that makes me feel so unwelcome. Moral of the story, don't meet anyone there unless you can coordinate your arrival with precision...or be told to wait at the door and step in no further. Sad. read more

We order the Meat lover's omelet and chorizo skillet. Both were well cooked with a butter undertones in the and a generous thick cook vs the thinly wrapped Omelette and not to much cheese the skillet came with an over medium egg which was done perfectly to order. Refuses to believe his own staff member that he missed the no onions on the skillet order. He came up to own table as we ate our meal and looks very close to figure out who was right or wrong. Then made an excuse. After I had to ask him to give us our personal space so we could attempt to enjoy the rest of our meal. And had zero customer service.
