I've never had a shrimp ceviche tostada, so I thought I would try one. Ordered online to carry out, so cannot give more than 4 stars because I haven't dined in this restaurant in a very long time. Food was quickly prepared, I was thankful the tostada was separate from the ceviche! Portion seemed healthy, red sauce provided was hot, which was awesome. Lime in the ceviche stood out, which was different from others I have eaten. I believe traditional ceviche has a white fish inside and this did not, which was a little disappointing. Great Mexican restaurant! The staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations. The tamales were the best I have ever had. The sauce and cheese complimented them perfectly. I ordered a side of sour cream and Cholula Hot Sauce to spice them up to my taste, but they are perfect as is. The building is fantastic! It had a vintage tin tile style roof that is probably out of the 30's. I stopped there two days in a row for lunch since it was so good on my first day. They are generous with chips and salsa, but I would save your appetite for the fabulous Mexican food! I noticed when I left they have a take out Drive Up window. The portions are huge, the waitstaff is friendly, complimentary chips (small basket, you can't take them home). I get chicken enchiladas and have been happy with it every time. I think there can be a wait, but not a big deal. They have the little round crunchy ice in their drinks, if you care about that sort of thing. The handicap ramp is somewhat awkward, as you have to walk through the kitchen. read more

I've been to Mexico and El Salvador. this is the food I've been looking for since i got here. the service is excellent, and the ambiance somewhat reminds me of the times i had in the country. we were in the field, and a woman with a cart would pull up out of nowhere and make us delicious food. Went for the first time this evening. I ordered beef tacos and my husband ordered the soup. Huge bowl of soup that could have fed two people. I thought the tacos were good but didn't care for the sauce. My husband really enjoyed his soup but couldn't eat it all. Prices were reasonable and the waitstaff did great. read more

4-star food. 2-star service averages to a 3-star rating. The small combo lunch special was only $4.50. The taco and tostada were good, but the chorizo enchilada was delicious. So much flavor packed into that little roll. The problem is I alone for awhile without anyone wiping off my table or taking a drink order. Then, after I got my food, I sat with an empty drink for five minutes. I'm s still waiting for my check and a box for the second enchilada I ordered. Worst restaurant experience I've had in years. Ingredients not listed in the menu added to my order, I had to walk up and ask for silverware after getting my food, my partner had to ask multiple times for his refill after she took his cup away and it took us a VERY long time to even get a menu and the place wasn't full. Bad service and even though I asked if all the ingredients were INSIDE the burrito and was assured they were everything was piled around or on top w only rice and beans inside. Another excellent Mexican restaurant in the Quad Cities. The Beans were likely the best I have had, and the enchiladas are up there in a similar sense. The Chimichangas were a bit brittle though the meat inside was decadent. The prices are real good and the food was very filling. read more

First visit here. Ordered the large shredded beef burrito $7.99. Complimentary chips and mild red salsa were brought out. The chips are average tasting/quality. The salsa is mild/bland. The burrito is large, but microwaved and this caused the lettuce and tomato inside to wilt and be soggy. There was a thin layer of melted yellow cheese on top, but no Mexican cheese in out out. The guacamole was different, but not too bad, again, bland. I asked for whole beans in the burrito instead of refried beans, but was told they did not have whole beans. What? The shredded beef had no seasoning whatsoever and tasted as if it were boiled? It was more in chunks than shredded. I tasted no onion or cilantro at all. I asked for a bit of pico de gallo and was brought out a tiny cup but was charged $3.00 for it. Was given a cup of sopa, but it was quite bland as well so I did not eat much of it. Not sure if I paid for it, as my bill was over $12 for the food alone. Most likely will not return, as there are many better authentic Mexican places to eat in the area for half the price. Ordered Costillas, terrible taste and so so tough could not eat. Ordered appetizer large guacamole was the size of a small condiment and runny like it was diluted with water or liquid of some sort, ordered three toasted jalapenos chopped up, served them sliced length wise. usually mix them with the Costillas but like mentioned earlier they were inedible. Rice and beans were fine as well as chips and salsa, friendly server but never came back to see if everything was fine after bringing food, left the entire meal, huge waste of money, big disappointment. For authentic Mexican food, this place can't be beat. It's close to the down-towns (actually in between downtown Rock Island and downtown Moline). It's family owned and operated. Cheery people, fast, courteous service. It's 5-10 minutes from my job, so we try to make it there every couple of weeks (if not more). If you eat there more than a couple of times, the waitresses remember what you had the last time. Excellent! read more
