Road tripping and in the town of Templeton, CA. The town is tiny and businesses shutter down earlier than their larger populated neighboring towns. In search for a casual local eatery to have dinner, I yelped to see that Cowboy Pizza was open until 9pm Sunday-Thursday and 10pm on Friday-Saturday. So off we went. The eatery is counter service with the food brought out to the tables. The dining area is smallish. Little hole in the wall, no frills place. Comfortable. The cashier was welcoming and helpful. The menu has pizzas, calzones, pasta, hot sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. We ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza and bottled Jarritos sodas. The pizza came out piping hot. Lactose intolerant me popped a pill and went to town. The crust was oven baked. Nice bake on the crust. Evenly cooked through. Gorgeous satisfying cheese pull. Seemed like an endless stretch. The pepperoni is not cup but yummy nevertheless. Overall tasty pizza. read more

Super nice people, a comfortable, casual neighborhood space, and tasty pizza at a great price. For a budget-friendly neighborhood pizza spot, it's excellent- I am not out here comparing it to the Della's and Via Carravagios of Paso. So, they get five stars from me for the category that they fit within- not artisanal, not fancy, not Neapolitan- but delicious, kind to your wallet, fast, and the owners and staff are friendly and helpful. They are good to the Templeton community. We like the wings, pesto chicken pizza, and pepperoni pizza especially. We tend to make our own salads at home when ordering pizzas, so I can't speak to those. The chicken bake thing is cheesy and excellent and $8. My husband and I can split just that and a thing of wings, happily. We've never been disappointed by an order, many experiences in, and it's our go-to "emergency dinner lever" or "pizza craving option" to pull these days given that it close in proximity for us to pick up (we've never done delivery). Their family meals are a great deal, if you're feeding a crowd or want leftovers. And they are reliable in speed and service. I'm optimistic when trying out a new za place, but very often left disappointed. Of course, even bad pizza is pretty good! Via Doordash, I ordered the XL Hungry Cowboy with a Stuffed Cheese crust -- whoa. I quite loved it! The pepp, sausage (ground, delish), olives, onions, peppers, and mush were great and plentiful. It had a very wide crust, but the crust because it was filled with cheese, was so so good. I only wish I had a side of a good sauce to dunk-dunk-dunk in. Visiting Templeton and needed a quick delivery to feed a group of four. Ordered a medium Pesto Chicken - Spinach Artichoke and 12 wings (mango habanero) with ranch and blue cheese. About 40 minutes later our order was delivered - piping hot with parm and chilis. The pizza was a welcome change from over-sauced pesto pies from other establishments. Plenty of toppings and the perfect amount of cheese. The wings had the right amount of heat with a bit of sweetness from the mango. The down side - they did not include any dipping sauces for the wings. We called and shared that they forgot the sauce for the wings. The driver had to go back to the restaurant and 20 minutes later returned to the air bnb with an ample amount of dipping sauces - and apologies. A true testament to customer service. And excellent food. Next time we're in Templeton - we will definitely order from Cowboy Pizza! read more

Great stop for a bite while visiting Downtown Templeton (on the way to Pismo Beach). A delightful downtown and great walk. We saw a sign for pizza-by-the-slice and that's exactly what we were looking for. Delicious pizza! They had 2 varieties ready to go, classic pepperoni. Good selection of canned sodas/water/tea. Ordered pizza at 5:55p and the website auto selected pickup. i immediately called and spoke with someone who assured me that it was fine and they could just charge me separately for the delivery fee. Confirmed my address three times and the gentlemen asked me if I would tip the driver or put it on the card. Let him know I had cash and he said it'll be there in 45 minutes. After an hour and fifteen minutes, we called and they said the conversation never happened and we were lying. Finally got our pizza at 8pm with a drive who made sure to point out the recipe said pickup and said we never called. read more

I ordered 2 pizzas, one large thin crust the other a medium regular crust. My thin crust was literally the same as the regular crust. The best part of my experience was ordering my food. I regularly go in while taking the dog for a walk and place a to-go pickup order(counter service style) and they always have the order finished and ready to go within 10-15 minutes! Abysmal pizza! Don't know what to say about it other than it fills a hunger hole if your about and no other place is open within 20 miles!
