This is just a basic neighborhood diner with a simple menu. The staff was nice, however a lot has changed since we visited last year...prices have at least doubled and ingredients/portions have at least been reduced by 2/3. I ordered a BLTA Croissant w/fries for $17. The croissant was the size of a grocery store hamburger bun-tiny and more of a bun croissant rather than a real croissant. There were 2 thin slivers of avocado, one slice of bacon cut up and spread apart, no condiments...So I call the server over and tell him, "I think they forgot the avo and bacon". They slap on one more piece of bacon and two more slivers of avocado (literally less than 1/8 of an avocado but sliced so thin it was a joke). I used my husbands mayo that he had to request (along with mustard) because they sent out both of our sandwiches dry. To top it off, his hamburger wasn't a hamburger but a meat patty, all compressed into a round mold and definitely frozen rather than fresh ground beef. If you're going to raise your prices don't skimp on quality. That's just not right. Shame on you! I'd rather get poked by a proctologist than Country Waffles. Last time I'll eat there and def won't recommend it (not really our cup of tea anyway but it'll make a turd). Forgot to take a photo ... you woulda cried any way. Next time get a sandwich from the Sandwich Gustapo in old town Clayton. At least you know you're paying for punishment ahead of time. read more

Early on a Saturday and no wait. The pancakes instead of toast is a great option! Just had to avoid something like a biscuit plus potatoes to not have carb overload. Went with the Linguisa scramble over hash browns plus pancakes. We also had the the garden omelette with home fries and pancakes. Service here is super friendly. read more

First time in this restaurant out of the 4 years we have been living across the street. Let's talk about the ambience, it's cute because it's old fashioned. They play chill music. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. The servers are very nice. We were served by Jose. He was a kind gentleman. The servers are very attentive. Let's talk about the important part, the food. I ordered "The Border Scramble", chorizo, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese , country potatoes, sour cream and salsa. I asked for the homemade biscuits. The entire platter had no flavor, it was absolutely bland. And the salsa was generic like the salsa dip in a jar you buy at Safeway. I thought the biscuits were going to have some kind of flavor, but they were also extremely bland, no salt whatsoever. The positive about the biscuits is that they were fluffy. My daughter, ordered the turkey melt. It came with cheddar cheese, turkey slices, avocado, tomato. She ordered it on white bread. She also told me that the turkey melt was completely bland. She didn't even finish it and didn't want to take it home. She usually wants to take her leftovers home. There wasn't enough meat slices inside. It was more like eating a bread sandwich. Unfortunately, I do not recommend coming to this restaurant. Unless you are highly into bland food. It is sad that I do not recommend it because the service was really really great. read more

We love Country Waffles! Usually, Jose is our server, and we have never had any issues. However, today we were served by Angelica, and while the service was fine, it wasn't up to the usual standard we get from Jose. Things became a bit sketchy when we received our bill. For context, we ordered water, a coffee, and a soft drink. To our surprise, the bill included charges for two soft drinks instead of one . Additionally, a gratuity was automatically added, even though there were only four of us--a couple and two kids. I was shocked because I've never had gratuity included, even when we had a larger group. This charge isn't even mentioned on the menu. When we inquired about it, Angelica seemed very nervous and claimed that the computer adds it automatically. I questioned since when they started adding the gratuity but She didn't responded. The whole situation was uncomfortable, as it was clear she was nervous. Having worked in restaurant management before, I know it's essential to inform customers about any automatic charges in the menu or on the website. Since neither of these resources disclosed this information, it felt like the server was taking advantage of customers. I understand we are living in tough times, but this is not the right approach. If you visit this location, please double-check your receipts, especially if Angelica is your server. read more

Delivery via DoorDash has been a success with Country Waffles and has never left us disappointed. We benefit from this being closer to our home than many of the breakfast places in Pleasant Hill or Walnut Creek, which can often arrive just lukewarm or, in the case of waffles, even soggy. We've ordered fresh orange juice, the porky pig skillet, cinnamon roll french toast, and the apple bacon and cheddar waffle. Recommend it all! Especially the Cinnamon Roll French Toast. Yum! My only gripe is that, if you're craving country fried steak, they only seem to offer the sausage option through DoorDash for delivery. I'm not sure why? read more

Located in a plaza with a lot of other shops/restaurants, plenty of parking. The place is pretty spacious, a lot of seating and it's not super crowded. Came in on a Saturday morning and were greeted/seated right away. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Swedish fruit roll up - i love a good Swedish pancake. I got it with cinnamon apple which was way too sweet so i just scooped it out. The sweet cream it was stuffed with was pretty good tho. Would get this again but probably without any stuffing. 8/10 Biscuits and gravy - nothing special, gravy was good, not too salty and had pieces of sausage in there. Biscuits were also ok. 5/10 Waffle - good taste, not super sweet. Crispy top but soft bottom? It was almost as if they we're sitting under a heat lamp. 7/10 Overall, I'd come back again especially considering how friendly and quick service is. read more

I wasn't sure what rating to give. I love a place that serves breakfast throughout the entire day. I wanted breakfast and asked my husband if we could go out together, just the 2 of us and eat. We got there around noon but hadn't eaten previously. I got a bagel with mashed avocado and scrambled eggs. The server allowed me to get cheddar cheese on it as well and I ordered a side of bacon that I topped it with myself. My husband had a pancake breakfast with eggs, sausage, and hash browns. We both drank coffee. Our coffee got filled up quickly and consistently which is good. The food tasted great. The thing is, later my husband's stomach started bothering him and I felt SOOO sick all through the night. Like I said, we went at noon, hadn't had anything to eat before, and I didn't feel like eating anything later...so, that's why the 3 stars. Hopefully, if and when I return, I'll have an even better experience. read more

We went this morning for breakfast and were very happy. I had the caramel banana pecan waffle and hubby had an omelette. The waffle was light and airy and yummy. The service was fast and friendly. The coffee was standard and just wish they used real whipped cream instead of the fake stuff but still delicious. We want to come back. The place is old fashioned but cute. read more

Lately, I've been trying to explore the Clayton area a bit more. During my most recent discoveries, I've uncovered all kinds of little gems. Welp, Country Waffles is definitely one of those local gems! It's an unassuming cozy-casual breakfast and lunch hub that serves up a great rendition of your classic American lunch and breakfast. Stopped by on a Saturday around 2:00ish and the place was pretty busy but wasn't packed. It's located in a strip mall near Safeway and the building is a bit outdated, but I really enjoyed that instant homey feel that I got as soon as I walked in. I was greeted by the hostess and sat at a booth. The menu features many classic breakfast and lunch options. After perusing through the menu, I finally decided on their cinnamon roll French toast breakfast with country potatoes, sausage, bacon, and eggs over easy. This breakfast was very tasty! The cinnamon roll French toast was thick and fluffy, country potatoes were crispy, eggs were cooked to a perfect over easy, and the sausage and bacon was yummy. A nice execution of a classic breakfast meal. Service was attentive, and the lady who served me was warm and accommodating. I came a bit closer to closing time but not once did they seem to rush me out. The interior could definitely use a lot of love. It looks like they've been rockin' that same decor since the 70's. Despite the interior being outdated, the inside was very clean. All in all, I had a great experience here and I can see why they have such a great local following. Dayam! Fastest service ever! These folks are ON IT! We were sat, immediately. Followed immediately by a server who offered us coffee before we glanced at the menu. Another waitress followed up in just a couple minutes to make sure someone was grabbing us coffee and to see if we had any questions. We were not rushed. Our coffee arrived but I needed a little more time to decide. Once I did, as soon as I folded the menu and put it down our waitress was back to take our order. She was super friendly. This is the 2nd time this has happened. We got breakfast to go for the family on Saturday. My wife and 2 kids love the waffles so each of them get their own full waffle. We tell the ladies at the front we order from that we want extra syrup. Both times there was never any syrup in the bag. How does someone working at a breakfast restaurant pack 3 waffles and put no syrup or butter is beyond me. I made the mistake of not looking at the reviews before I ordered through Doordash. I ordered the Country Chic-wich (fried chicken, sausage gravy, eggs, and cheddar on a waffle) with a side of hash browns. The hash browns were crisp, but had no flavor and extremely greasy - I had to add salt, pepper, and seasoning on my own. The sandwich was incredibly soggy. The chicken was just chicken tenders that looks like they were from Costco or similar, and nothing was flavorful or crisp. The waffle was mushy, the tenders were mushy, the eggs were mushy, and the one piece of crispy bacon did nothing to help the texture. The flavor also was lacking - it was just one giant salt bomb without much else. It was giant, but I ended up taking a few bites and throwing it away. Pretty disappointing, as there was a lot of potential with a dish like that. read more

I ordered the meat lover's omelette for my son through the door dash app, and when he started to put his food on the plate, he noticed a hair on the side of bananas. We discarded the bananas, however noticed another hair on the omelette mid way through eating. Disgusting. We haven't eaten breakfast out since 3/2021. We decided today would be a good day to venture out. There were very few booths with people eating. The waitress led us to a booth connected to a booth with a father and his young son. No, we said and pointed to an empty row. We watched as several other diners were lead to booths that were connected to occupied booths. Each asked for booths unconnected to filled booths. When I asked the manager he explained each waitress had a station. And sick people should be home. I agree that sick people should stay home but thought it was possible to minimize risks. Country Waffle Clayton Station is a Complete Disaster! A total service & costumer care failure at this location. I placed a phone order and it took 2 trips back to the restaurant to correct the order and 2 verbal exchanges with a rude and poorly trained employee who was more interested in placing blame than correcting the order: - No bacon although it was ordered and paid, - No gravy with the biscuit even thought it was ordered, - Paid for a large orange juice and it was not included in the take out, -Hash brown was not "browned" but it was "raw", -No wheat toast with the order even though it was ordered. Each time I brought the issues about my oder, the waitress who took my phone order was rude and defensive; "we're very busy" " you need to tell us what is missing" "I didn't hear you said you wanted gravy" "and now what?" At one point the hostess said that I should tell her what is missing before I leave the restaurant with the to go order. I responded with a laugh that is exactly what I have been doing 3x already, each time they handed over the bagged order. The new employees have not idea what is going on, I made the comment to the waitress and hostess that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. No team work, and worse, an attitude of "you the costumer is at fault." These employees are in the wrong industry where costumers are, well, the costumers, paying costumers, I may add. The restaurant is clean, quite and very spacious. The service is quick and friendly. The BREAKFAST is amazing. We had the Nutella Strawberry Banana Waffle and the Cinnamon French Toast with country potatoes, bacon and scrambled eggs. The seasoning on the spuds was amazing, the waffle, french toast and scrambled eggs were light and fluffy and the bacon was prepared perfectly for my liking! Hash browns cooked perfectly: crunchy on the outside, moist and tender inside. Our side order of pancakes was fluffy and delicious. Giving one start is being generous for the service and food I had today , let's start with the first person who approached the table with no indoctrination asking what we want to drink , then moving over to the waitress who approached the table again with no intro. After those encounters let's jump into the food ..would not recommend the waffles (boysenberry or banana peanut butter ) , the whipped cream was definitely old and the fruit jam was far from fresh not to mention the clumps of chunky peanut butter slapped on top . The food here is bad, and expired. I ordered a blueberry crepe for myself, and a kids breakfast meal for the kid. The egg they gave her seemed ok, but they threw the sausage on her fruit covering them in oil and meat flavor. She wouldn't eat the fruit. The apple juice they gave her was warm and had MOLD floating in it. The crepe they gave me just tastes like a scrambled egg with blueberry. Disgusting. The batter is pretty much all egg. What? Did they run out of flour and sugar? I don't trust the blueberry sauce isn't expired after i saw that moldy apple juice because it had a funny taste. The biscuit was as hard as a rock. Probably frozen for a couple years. It is a waste of money, and time to give this place a chance. You either won't want to finish your meal, or you will eat it and be very sick. I came here with a fairly large group. Around 9 of us ranging in all ages. They sat us right away, being a Saturday I was surprised it wasn't more crowded. Food was good, I had the country fried chicken. I usually check out yelp for recommendations when I go somewhere new and everyone on here seemed to have issues with the service. Personally, I thought the service was really good. Never ran out of coffee. They checked in on us constantly, one of them even offered to take a family photo for us. I will return. read more
