I purchased a home with corian counters which had scratches, nicks, cut marks and 3 crackers next to the stove. I got two quotes, Jeff's being $20.00 higher, to repair cracks and sand away all the damage. Jeff convinced us he would restore the counters to near new condition and the cracks would only be a slight shadow we could barely notice. The other quote would completely cut out the cracks and replace with another piece of corian, sand and blend, same color or close as can be. Jeff convinced us that his method of filling in the cracks would be a better option, so we trusted his opinion. He was a very convincing talker. That was a huge mistake. After 3 1/2 months of calls and constant appointment changes and cancellations, the cracks are still showing (not just a shadow), even worse since he scraped out the side and left it unfilled.
We ended up calling him back 3 times to correct areas that were uneven, scratches still showing and cracks not filled properly. Each time, after the dust settled, the scratches still appeared, some areas wavy and uneven. The cracks, which were just drilled out to remove some of the discoloration (still showed discoloration) and refilled with corian glue, settled leaving sunken dips in the cracks the first time. After the second attempt to correct these issues, the indentations still existed and scratches in the same area, which didn't even look like it was resanded at all. He only sanded one other area and fixed that. He wasn't going to return at all saying the crack repair was for free, even after he promised that he would correct anything to satisfy the customer. Nothing is for free, especially when a larger company would have done more major repairs for the same price. I expressed my disappointment so he returned the 3rd time, only agreeing to reglue the 3 cracks and not sand that same remaining area of scratches next to the cracks. They scraped out the sides of the cracks, which he failed to do the first time (I instinctively knew that would be a problem) but not the remaining discolored top areas of the cracks, leaving the repair uneven with indentations on the edge. It would have been great if they filled all the areas with the glue, let it dry, then came back and sanded it smooth. The sanding would have taken less than 5 minutes. Instead, they didn't want to return and didn't have the patience to let the glue dry thoroughly and resanded it while it was still wet. This left 3 empty lines on the side and and uneven areas on the top. The remaining scratches, which only needed a small amount of additional sanding was completely ignored. He actually stated when he arrived that he wasn't going to sand it again since he already sanded it twice. He actually failed to sand that area the second or third visit, just another area close by which filled the other existing scratches with dust, hiding them temporarily.
I would not recommend someone who can talk a great talk but fails in performance. Also huge problem. You can't get a word in edgewise to express your opinion, no matter what you say, he'll override you or cut you off mid-sentence. Beware, he will talk you into anything and try to convince you it's your fault it didn't turn out as agreed. Don't bother, save yourself heartache. Call a larger, more reputable company. I wish I went with them instead. Upset and out of nearly $700.
Just had another kitchen finisher inspect the kitchen counter and comment on what a poor job. The surface where the cracks are is uneven. Just to confirm, this is not just a consumer comment, a professional inspection also confirmed poor workmanship. Truly sad. read more
