Worst renovation experience in my lifetime (and there have been several bad ones, especially here…read morein Hawaii). Probably spent around $250,000 to renovate the pool area at my house and they never finished the job. Best I can piece together, after stringing me along for six months waiting for tiles to complete the project that never came, is that the pavers they sold me are no longer available. I must have been sold a "clearance item" without even a clearance price tag (not that I would have chosen to buy closeout products for exactly this reason). My only recourse now, since I cannot get the pavers to complete the project, is to rip the whole damn thing out and start over -- and hope the next contractor is more reputable.

He is personable, down to earth, good at calling you back, and he clearly is a perfectionist. When he first walked in he immediately spotted the flaws and mistakes they had previously made -right away. His replacement was perfect, and his work left my wife and I super super pleased!!! He clearly knows his craft well, and amazingly his price was reasonable too!! I feel fortunate that we found him. I have had many people help work on our house, and few I could wholeheartedly recommend. Patrick James at Pure Stone Hawaii is a gem!

He told us that they have a vast selection and we should be able to find what we want. If we couldn't find it, he said they could order it but it could take weeks to arrive so he nudged us to go ASAP. We went as soon as our schedule allowed for it and surprisingly PAL was very easy to find. They have a private lot with ample parking. The staff here is very friendly and we were greeted almost immediately. Everyone was quite nice and assisted us from selecting the design we were looking for to rolling up the 4 x 8 sheet to put into our vehicle. The whole process was seamless. We found one finish that we were looking for but unfortunately the other finish we wanted was not available. If they had it, we would have purchased that from them too. Very reasonable pricing and we highly recommend them when looking for building supplies, kitchen, bathroom and flooring.

I make and install custom rustic barn doors for interior spaces primarily in New England…read more Through a mutual friend and business contact, I was able to work with Jorma Winkler and explain that I wanted to try to make a special sliding door using Monkey Pod and Koa wood from Hawaii. My wife and I got married on Maui in 2002 and so its life style, music, culture and general scene hold a special place in my heart. I was able to explain what I wanted to try and while I have yet to design the door, Jorma understood and kept in constant communication about wood and styles. He then worked out a quote and I suddenly had the wood delivered! Shipping was fast and he packed everything nicely! The wood is perfect. A mix of sizes and styles, rough and smooth, natural live edges, etc. I love it! The rustic nature of my work is more forgiving than that of a fine piece of cabinet grade furniture by nature but quality and style are as wonderful. I can't wait to make the perfect and very unique door, and who knows where this may lead! Mahalo Winkler Woods for everything! Jeff Filipov The #Barndoorist www.northshorebarndoors.com

I…read morehave plans to build a new office suite, and had budgeted about $1000.00 in lumber for the project. My wife and I walked into the lumber shed, where a man told us that the owner was on a short walk, and would be back soon. He said we were free to browse the stock while we waited, so we did. The owner walked in, and I introduced myself and told him I needed some 4/4 Koa for a project on the mainland. He rolled his eyes, and told me the boards I was looking at were "too nice for you". He said that what I had picked out was "for really nice things." Then he guided me to a skid of #2 common lumber, which is junk, and not at all graded for fine furniture building. To top it off, he told me that he was leaving in 20 minutes, so I'd better hurry. Anybody who's picked out wood for a project knows that you can't find much in 20 minutes...I was bothered by his thinly veiled insults, and his complete lack of interest in a potential customer. I'll order wood from a dealer on the mainland and avoid this guy. I recommend that any woodworkers who planned on stopping here change their plans.

Yes I know there are other options however you would have to be happy with the product and design as ones kitchen is one place where you go into pretty much every day so if you are going to spend money you should get what you like. We saw that Bella Pietra Design sold Dekton and when I walked into the store I saw so many options for flooring, backslash and showers. You could spend a good two hours looking and imagining what your place could look like as they have lots of varieties to choose from. I had the privilege of talking to Meagan and she showed me around the whole showroom. She is very knowledgeable in the products they sell. She was educating me the pros and cons with the different stones. One of the things that make it hard to pick out a certain design is that the samples are small and you can't see the while sheet. That's where Meagan told me she could set up a special showing of the whole sheet so we can get the actual feel and look of the design. Very professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend coming down to see all the different options you could do to renovate or for your new build.
