as a visitor to Monroe, Louisiana, this restaurant was a highly recommended place. The restaurant itself was very large with a nice decorated bar. The music playing was very fun and the workers were extremely welcoming. However, given that it's near the river, it would be nice if they considered having outdoor tables, but it doesn't seem like there is much to see either way. We all got various cocktails, and I would highly recommend the lemonade if you really like something sweet. My table and I shared the duck wraps. they were filled with cream cheese jalapeño, and was wrapped in bacon. It was slightly sweet, which I didn't entirely prefer, but it was still very tasty and a unique dish that I would recommend everyone to try. I personally got A Burger and it was much larger than I thought it would be. It was very tasty, but it didn't have much sauce so it was slightly dry. The rest of my table got various seafood dishes, and they had very large portions. They all mentioned how well seasoned everything was. The one caveat of this restaurant was that everything took so long to get to our table. our waitress also didn't come check on us after delivering our food until it was time to pay, which was unfortunate.

Was looking for somewhere to stop on a roadtrip in Monroe, and with all the high reviews we had to make a stop. And this stop was WORTH IT. I would easily, hands down, come back here again. The service was next level - their team helped us out a ton with our party that had an animal with us that we couldn't leave in the car in the Louisiana heat. They graciously let us bring the cats crate inside and the manager said - animals lives matter just as much as human lives. Just the comment alone had me overwhelmed. Very thankful for this kind team, they even brought the cat water to our in her crate. The vibes here felt really cool, we walked in and were immediately greeted with great art, comfortable seating, and a great open space. The food - phenomenal. We got there right as lunch started and for the table we ordered the roast beef poboy, creole catfish, espresso martini, and the delectable DELTA PUDDING. I would come back for any of these dishes, but that delta pudding was seriously the winner. I don't live in the area, but I would highly recommend and would easily come back when I'm in the area again.

Loved it, everything from the service to the food, we had a memorable time. I got the roast beef po'boy accompanied by the Ghost in the Machine IPA. If I lived in Louisiana this would be my regular hang out but it will definitely be a must stop when I visit Monroe.

Upscale, incredible interior to match their delicious libations and decadent meals. Setting: Located in Monroe, there are available parking spots, but street parking is not an option at this time. The interior is gorgeous, made with brick and gold accents. Service: Our server was kind, and they do provide a carafe of water at the table for you to refill at your liking. We placed reservations so there was no wait for us during the weekend brunch. Food: Their French 75 was tart, bubbly, and citrusy. The duck fat fries were unctuous with their homemade sauces. The homemade biscuits with cane butter and apricot jam were a MUST GET! The gas station chicken and Nashville hot chicken were good too. The appetizers for us were truly the stars.

Stopped in here for lunch and it was empty for the most part so I was a little concerned. I sat at the bar and was greeted by immediately by the Joli. She recommended the deer camp meatloaf, so decided to try even though I'm not much a meat loaf eater. I can honestly say that was the best meatloaf I have ever had. It was so tender and flavorful. And the brussel sprouts that accompany it.....amazing! Perfectly cooked and well seasoned. I also ordered a side of biscuits and while they were good, I didn't find them to be in the same class as the meat loaf. Service and food could not have been any better. Maybe it was a slow day, but this place should be packed everyday.

Deer Camp Meatloaf and Crawfish and Sausage Dumplings

We love Cotton! Went last night for our anniversary. They got us in quickly with no reservation and the food was phenomenal as always. Heather was very sweet and attentive. My go to is the meatloaf. My husband got the fried crawfish and sausage dumplings. We shared a blt wedge salad and it was the best salad I've ever had. Love this place!

This restaurant is located in a historic Monroe location and the interior is pleasingly decorated. The service was also good.

The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because the atmosphere was great, awesome decor, and awesome spot to have dinner or lunch. But the food it's lacking flavor, the fried chicken tasted like it was marinating and nothing but milk and water, it was crunchy and juicy, but no flavor whatsoever, my friend ordered the deviled eggs and he said they were good, the mashed potatoes did have a lot of flavor and the corn was good as well very disappointed,

    Duck Fat Fries

The food was awesome! We had the duck fat fries and deviled eggs appetizers. I had the shrimp and grits and recommend it all. Other in our party has the Nashville hot chicken and loved it too! Austin took care of us and did a great job with menu recommendations. I highly recommend Cotton! The restaurant also has a very cool vibe!

This place is fantastic! From the service to the food, everything was top-notch. We had an unforgettable time. I ordered the roast beef Boston sandwich and other dishes, and my bestie loved it too. This spot will definitely become a regular for me--every time I visit Monroe, it's a must-stop destination

We ordered via DoorDash. The portion sizes were incredibly small for the price. The pizza arrive burnt and the crust was so hard the kids couldn't eat it. My BLT wedge salad was wilted and overdressed. More of a side salad size. The amount of salad that came with the upside down Cesar was also only a few bites. The chicken was done well and the fries were so over salted (and we love salty food) that they were inedible. The banana pudding was a disappointment. It was such a small amount for $15!!! It was warm when it arrived (which I realize is a DoorDash issue) but maybe it shouldn't be packed with the hot food on top.

We came here for a birthday dinner! Perfect place for the occasion! Half the table ordered the Chicken Cesar salad and there was not any leftovers! The Nashville chicken was also very yummy! We had a party of about 11 and our waiter was constantly checking on us, so we didn't have to really wait around asking for something! We ordered multiple drinks for the table and they all came out super fast! Would be perfect for a date night or nice family dinner!

The first time we dined here was in 2017, maybe, during which time the server slung our children's food across the table while setting it down-- french fries can roll off a plate with gusto! It was when the server placed the food back on the plate for the kids to eat as if we didn't all see what had just happened that put us off to coming back here. Fast forward to June 2026, it's a Saturday evening and the place my husband and I wanted to go was packed. We decided to give The Fat Pelican another try. When we walked in, there were only three tables occupied. As we stood there waiting for any signs of life from someone employed by this place, we could feel the stares from a particular table, as if trying to warn us to leave while we still could. But hindsight is always 20/20. A sweaty man emerged from the kitchen and told us we could have a seat wherever we liked. As we looked over the menu, I noted the shrimp plates all indicated (imported), which is pretty odd, being close enough to the gulf, and because our booth was right next to a poster celebrating some Louisiana Shrimp festival. I ordered unsweetened tea, which was more watery than tea, and patiently requested a soda instead, which he forgot about. One of the original 3 tables energetically waived sweaty man down, asking for their check so they could leave. Another quickly followed suit. The third table may have been playing mahjong-- they were clearly content in being out and visiting their friends. When it was our turn for what may have finally been the undivided attention of the server, we ordered. My husband ordered a steak. "We're out of steak"........ I ordered while he reconsidered the menu, really wanting to just abort the whole mission. There is a $1.50 up-charge for the loaded baked potato, which would have not been a big deal, but my husband's "loaded baked potato" was dry. We didn't bother to hunt the sweaty man down to ask for more butter, because we were both pretty frustrated. Because we were looking forward to a place that included dessert with their meal, we absolutely ordered the chocolate fudge cake. Look-- no shade on Duncan Hines or their brownies, but that is clearly what we each paid $8.99 for. You could literally taste the Duncan Hines, which was topped with ice cream and some confusing blue berries. It was a relief to pay out and leave, especially since the indie hits playlist had started its second loop. If you're still reading and wondering.. no one else came in to dine while we were there. There won't be a third time.

As if they were sitting under a heat lamp or forgotten in the oven. Flavor of the crab was good, though I think I would have rather had a majority of the cheese on the bottom, mixing with the juices from the mushroom and crab instead of heavily coating the top like a crispy crust. Entrees: SHRIMP RAHKEE. Saw so many good reviews for this. I was underwhelmed and disappointed. The whole thing lacked flavor. I had to shake a generous amount of salt on top and it was still lacking flavor. Shrimp were large and juicy, they just needed more flavor. Sauce was thin, could have been thicker and more complex. All of it was just bland. I ordered this over pasta which was cooked perfectly al dente. For my sides, I got the STUFFED POTATO and ASPARAGUS. Stuffed potato was nothing to write home about-- it also tasted as if it was sitting under a heat lamp or left in the oven a bit too long; flavor wasn't bad, though.. Asparagus was asparagus. Would have preferred a nice crusty bread like a French Bread over the Texas Toast. Not terrible, but not great. My teenager ate up my shrimp. My teenager ordeeed the SHRIMP SALAD. He said "it is what it is." Nothing super special but he didn't really have any complaints. My husband ordered the PORK CHOPS with ASPARAGUS and STEAMED VEGGIES. He really Enjoyed the pork chops and shared a bite with me, which was delicious-- cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. His steamed veggies were dry and asparagus was asparagus. My youngest ordered a KIDS CHEESEBURGER. Unfortunately, much like many places serving a kids cheeseburger-- it was pretty basic. My youngest had a few bites and wasn't interested in finishing it. This is served with chips. I should mention that all of the entrees looked visually tasty and we really wanted to like them. Maybe we were just there on an off night. Our server and everyone working there was very nice and attentive. The owner gave us a hearty smile and good bye. Service itself earned half the rating for me. View of the water was really nice, though I probably won't be back if I find myself in Monroe again.
