Came here on a Friday night for dinner with a friend. We made a reservation for their patio area. The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated and has an open concept that also gives a peek into the kitchen. The overall cleanliness was okay. The patio area was nice, the cushions for outdoor seating could've been cleaned a little more. I was also given a dirty drinking glass for my drink. They are a BYOB restaurant. The service was good and the server provided amazing detail of how their menu is setup and how the courses go. You do have to order everything all at once and they stagger the times as to when the courses come out. We got the focaccia pull apart bread to start which was amazing and flavorful. For the main courses, we got three pasta dishes. My friend got the paccheri. She said the dish was flavorful and the sauce was different but good! I got the spaghetti verde which was good! And not too creamy. I do wish the dish came out a little hotter. To split, we got the spicy rigatoni. The spicy rigatoni was good but not the best I've ever had. Definitely tasted the beef brisket more than the spiciness of the dish and other flavors. All pastas are housemade and cooked perfectly al dente. It is a little pricey for the portion sizes but they do mention the reasoning for the portion sizes when going over the menu read more

What a great spot! We made a reservation in advance and were seated right away. One thing to keep in mind is that parking is street parking only, so I'd recommend giving yourself a little extra time to find a spot. We started with the pull-apart bread, which was absolutely delicious, and then ordered a few pasta dishes. Everything was incredible! I also really appreciated how accommodating the staff was with food allergies. They took the time to make sure everything was allergy-friendly, which made the experience even better. The only small downside was that after we finished our meal, it took a little while for our server to come back. We had been planning to order dessert, but by the time they returned, we decided to just ask for the check. The restaurant was quite busy, though, so it was completely understandable. Cotto has quickly become one of the harder reservations to secure in Morristown, so when we managed to book a Thursday night table, we were really excited to try it. Taking over the former Guerriero's space, it's a beautiful new BYOB spot that clearly put a lot of thought into its design and atmosphere. We dined as a group of six and were seated promptly. Our waitress was attentive and explained the menu structure, which is designed for each person to order an appetizer, pasta, and entrée. With appetizers ranging from $10-$25 and pastas from $25-$45, the cost adds up quickly--but, some of us opted to treat pasta as our main course. The biggest drawback was the portion sizes. For a table of six, the garlic bread and burrata amounted to about a bite per person. While the waitress did say each person should order their own, we were expecting an order of bread to come with a bit more. The salad was the only dish that felt appropriately portioned for sharing. As for entrées, two people ordered the porterhouse for two ($180), which felt underwhelming for the price--you could easily get a much larger, more satisfying steak elsewhere. Another guest ordered the NY strip, which was shockingly small, he finished it in about four bites total. For $60, it didn't seem worth it. The standout dishes were definitely the pastas. While still on the smaller side, they were flavorful and well-executed. The fusilli with rock shrimp, in particular, was excellent and the highlight of the meal. Dessert options were limited to begin with (two desserts and gelato), and one was already sold out, leaving very little to choose from. Overall, the ambiance is stunning and the food itself is genuinely good. However, the combination of high prices and very small portions made the experience hard to justify. Our bill came to around $750 for six people (at a BYOB!) which felt excessive for what we received. Unfortunately, we wouldn't return based on value alone. I was here in March and thought it was great! Went yesterday and very disappointed! I ordered Veal Chop and could barely cut into it. Told the waiter and was offered to replace with another dish but everyone else was done and we were leaving. Appetizers were ok ! Two people ordered Branzino and they were satisfied! Cotto was excellent. First things first, the space is GORG. I never dined at the old space so I'm not sure how it used to look, but the new look is so chic and well done. Even the bathroom was adorable and had the most fun wallpaper. We shared an app, two pastas and a side and this was the perfect amount of food. The eggplant croquettes were crunchy and delicious. Spicy short rib rigatoni is a must, probably one of the best pasta dishes I've had in recent memory. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the breadcrumb topping was perfection. I also don't love spice, and this dish was very tolerable. The blue crab pasta was also perfectly cooked, and you don't see casarecce pasta often, so this was a treat. The dish is a bit fishy (the waitress explained it has fish sauce in it) so just worth nothing. We ordered a side of the broccoli rabe side and this created the perfect bite with the pasta. BYOB is always nice, and if you hit Amanti Vino before they have some great drinks to pair with the meal like negroni, aperol spritz and an Italian pilsner. Or of course a nice bottle of wine. Service was great - they seem to be really on top of their game for a new business, but this isn't surprising given that they are part of Stirling Group. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Wow not a fan. The food was okay not great. BYOB which we didn't know. They have a liquor store close but the mgr pointed me to The Dublin for wine. Their sister company. The wine was a good bottle however 50 bucks?? Wtf. Bring a bottle or go to Liquor store. The garlic bread was good with ricotta and olives chopped. The bolognese was very good the shell pasta not so much. Ok fontina cheese turned off my wife. Waitress return it We then went for the shrimp crostini with raisins. Not a fan. Food was great (albeit very overpriced) but the service was some of the worst I've experienced. We came here for a birthday dinner with three people and ended up waiting over an hour and 45 minutes for four pasta dishes to come out. And our water wasn't filled up once without our asking. First of all, the waitress opened the evening telling us the pasta dishes aren't meant to be entrees and aren't enough food to have on their own (even though they are over $30 each). Okay, so we each ordered our own pasta and one to split, and also started with the focaccia. As it is BYO, we brought wine, and our bottle sat on the table for 20 minutes before we pulled over a server to ask for glasses on our own. After about 30 minutes we got our bread and then... crickets. Nada. Servers walking by ignoring our dirty table for at least another half hour. When our waitress finally came over, she said our shared pasta would be coming out soon and someone would be over to clean our table (they were busy, we understood, we weren't mad quite yet. Even though multiple tables who'd arrived after us had already eaten and left). Another 10 minutes go by. 15. 20. Nada. Our waitress comes over again asking how our shared pasta was... and we tell her we never received it. We've been here for an hour and 20 minutes at this point and all we've had is some bread. We then ask for all the pasta to be brought out at once, as it is now nearly 9pm and the restaurant has all but cleared out. It takes another 30 minutes for us to finally get our food, and the food was delicious, but we'd been there for nearly 2 hours with no water and four $30+ pasta dishes the size of appetizers sitting in front of us. About 10 minutes after finishing the pastas, which we scarfed down as we were starving by this point, we asked another waitress to send over our waitress. She never came. We then asked the bus boy if we could have some water and the check. He promptly came over with more water. We look inside the restaurant and our server is standing around talking to other servers, as she had been for the past 45 minutes since the restaurant cleared out. A member of our party went inside to find our waitress and ask for the check, as we'd been there for over 2 hours at this point. 5 minutes later the waitress brings out a birthday dessert, which we didn't even want at this point as again, it is a weeknight and after 9:30pm by now. Another 10 minutes goes by until she comes over with the check, at which point she's finally apologizing (when it's time for her to get her tip) and saying how busy the restaurant was (when they'd been dead for over an hour and standing around talking) and 'don't worry, the birthday dessert (which we didn't even ask for) is on me'..... Needless to say, I wouldn't come here unless you want overpriced appetizer-sized dishes and to spend over 2 hours waiting on bread and four pasta dishes. read more

There is room for improvement but it has great potential. Manager called me back because I called the day before. It would have been great to be reminded that the restaurant is byob and about parking. Seating by the door and we would get some waves of cold breeze. Unclear if the ac was on or if the cold is coming from outside. Seating for two is a bit tight. I understand the restaurant wants to have as many table as possible but I would prefer have more personal space during my dinner instead of sitting so close to another table. We loved the food. The pasta is great, fresh, and original flavors. We got the squid ink and had a great flavor. It comes with neonata which is spicy but I wasn't aware. It would be good to mention it on the menu. The spicy rigatoni wasn't spicy but it was still great. The esthetic of the restaurant, the ambiance, and music fits the place well. The acoustics are good and I don't need to scream to talk to my husband at dinner making it very pleasant. The restaurant could use a coat check. I don't think they have one. The service is attentive. Our water was always full. They have plenty of stuff working and doing a great job. The desserts were ok. I would have loved the pistachio gelato to be more flavorful but it wasn't quite sweet enough. The olive cake was good. read more

The food taste was great. The portions are small. You have to order appetizers pasta and main to reach the right portions. If you for the apps and pasta you may be okay. Table of 2 we ordered 3 apps and two pasta dishes. It was okay. Service was fast and informative. She knew the menu very well. We went there no plans at all and didn't bring wine with us, nothing to worry about as you can order from the liquor store they take literally no time bringing you the wine! The restaurant is rather small but well put together, rather romantic. On the negative: the prices are high remember the portions are small here. Also I didn't like to see tip calculated off of the total amount taxes included. and they charge you 3% for paying with a credit card. Remember I'm there to have fun and eat well. You no longer have to travel to Manhattan for NYC level dining. Cotto brings that experience right to Morristown. This is an elevated, modern Italian restaurant that truly captures the essence of fine dining while highlighting seasonal ingredients at their peak. I dined on opening night and was immediately welcomed by the warm, attentive staff. Everyone was friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The rock shrimp crostino was our first bite and it completely blew me away. The flavors build with each bite and showcase the thoughtful and well curated menu. The cacio e pepe salad and the octopus are absolute musts and I cannot wait to have them again. The fresh pasta dishes are not to be missed, especially knowing they are all made in house. I highly recommend the spicy rigatoni with stracciatella and the pappardelle with pork ragù. After seeing the NY strip at another table, we ordered it for our entree and it did not disappoint. It was cooked perfectly and truly melted in your mouth. The branzino was just as impressive and tasted as beautiful as it looked. Every dish was beautifully presented with such attention to detail, which comes as no surprise given the chef's Michelin starred background. There truly is something for everyone on the menu, and it is the perfect spot for a date night or special occasion. I cannot wait to dine here again. read more

First of all, the space is beautiful. Now for the food. If you're on GLP-1 drugs, the portion sizes are perfect. You are warned very early by your server that you should order an appetizer, pasta and a main. We weren't in the mood to order so much food, so we all opted for an appetizer and a pasta for the main dish. The apps we ordered were not shareable, with the exception of the Caio e Pepe salad. The focaccia pull apart bread was delicious, but $15 for a bread muffin was a little much. The buffalo mozzarella for $21 was just about the size of the palm of your hand, pricey for what it was. The pasta courses were the eye openers. The garganelli for $34 was a medium size portion, hearty and filling. The paccheri was in a sungold pomodoro sauce, tasty but a little under cooked and it came with a piece of focaccia bread on the side. Finally, the girasole were tiny sunflower shaped pastas, sized between a quarter and a half dollar, in a brown butter, hazelnut and mushroom brodo sauce. It was supposed to have a filling like a ravioli, but not really sure what it was because there was so little in them. There were so few pieces of pasta (literally 10 undercooked pieces) in the bowl, you could see the bottom of the dish. My wife saw that I was still hungry, so she asked for a piece of focaccia bread. We all finished with gelato for dessert, which was the best part of the meal. I will say we were all very surprised when we received the bill and were charged $7 for that 1 square piece of focaccia bread. Given that its an italian restaurant, bread should have been included, that left a bad impression. Overall, the value for the money just isn't here, especially with so many food options in Morristown. This was a one and done for us. read more

So I'm not gunna lie, food was good if not great but that was the only part of this restaurant that was good. 1. There is no editing or altering any of the sandwiches or appetizers in any way here, I ordered the chicken sandwich and wanted a side of prosciutto, they literally have a prosciutto sandwich on the menu u but when asked if I could get a side of prosciutto it was initially an issue, they ended up doing it for me at a price of 14$ - the sandwich itself is 23$ so LOL my suggestion, just tell your staff and management to be a little more accommodating, I think that would go over well for you guys 2. Manager is very unfriendly and rude, this guy in a suit, and I guess he didn't know I was sitting right there, I asked the waitress if I could wrap my own meal and if she could just get me a box, she insisted she do it after I said it like 2-3 times so then she was looking all around holding my food up in the air and couldn't find a box, she then asked the manager if they have any more small boxes, he goes " For This ? " as if like I wasn't allowed to bring it home LOL I almost said " Yes for this " but I didn't want to possibly embarrass the person I was with by saying something and possibly making a scene, but yeah what is it to you ? If I ask you to get me a box you go get me a box, if you have some available like ???? Your gunna make a comment or argue with me over giving a paying customer a box ? So that was that 3. It did take a decent amount of time to get our sandwiches, but as I said they were actually very good, I would suggest take out from this place, probably would do well then All and All I really hate giving this a 3 because the potential is there with the quality food but the inside dining experience is worse then awful read more

Cotto, the new modern Italian restaurant in Morristown, is exceptional. We got a Cacio e Pepe salad to start, a pasta dish to share as a second course, then a prime rib and roasted chicken with fregola, plus two sides: salt and vinegar rösti and polenta. (We didn't know what a rösti was, and now it's our favorite thing.) We ended our meal with olive oil cake and Americanos. Excellent. We were too busy indulging to take photos of our food, but it was really exceptional. We loved the vibe, the decor, the service was impeccable and the food was wonderful. I've never written a restaurant review before, but this experience has me beginning to feel disillusioned about dining out. It honestly felt like a rip-off. The restaurant has a lovely interior and a nice atmosphere, but the food and pricing completely miss the mark. The portions were EXTREMELY SMALL and wildly OVERPRICED for what was served. We each ordered an appetizer, entree, and dessert, and we never order dessert (but out of a desperate attempt to avoid starvation-we did). After spending several hundred dollars on dinner with friends, we were all shocked to leave still feeling hungry. Nothing we ordered stood out or justified the New York City-level prices. If you're going to charge that much, the portions and quality should reflect it -- and unfortunately, they didn't. One last point. At the end the waitress walks over with a handheld credit card machine and basically says "just tap here". I'm sorry, I would like to look at a paper check with everything itemized before I pay. I was really exited about this place and wanted to love it. I like that their menu is not all Italian American dishes. The porterhouse steak was very fibrous, not worth $180. The pasta was not right . The pasta itself is not good, it is too thin. They need to roll it out on a thicker setting. If they focused more on Italian cooking techniques and simplified their dishes it would be better. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is great but the food needs work. read more

I now understand why its popularity has made it challenging to reserve a table, and I recommend planning ahead and booking in advance. It's the perfect pre-theater venue for MPAC performances...or anytime you seek a special NYC-quality dining experience. The decor is elegant and gorgeous, every service detail is noteworthy, staff members are friendly and helpful, the menu has something for everyone, and every dish is delicious and beautifully plated. Opened the door at 5:00 exactly, we were seated, wait staff Karen excellent, ordered garlic bread and rigatoni (very good), ordered polenta, different (OK), main course, pork chop (fatty, raw around the bone!) NY strip (OK, a little tough), ordered cappuccino, (lukewarm). Overall experience definitely not worth $100 per person. Cotto is an Italian restaurant that will constantly remind you they are authentic Italian when you ask for items like bread, meatballs or calamari. I have relatives in Italy they eat meatballs lol.,Then they try and tell you that if you order pasta for $34 it's really not the main dish , they encourage you to order another dish because again, in Italy pasta is a segue into the meal which may be true but when you're told you get 4oz of pasta for $35 you know you're in the wrong place . This was probably one of my favorite meals I've had in a long time. We started with Caico Pepe Salad (very good) and the Beef carpaccio (one of the best ever the capers pickled onions and mushrooms capers added a nice flavor and the bread it came with was unreal) The spicy rigatoni with the short rib was the best spicy rigatoni dish ever. The crab pasta was also amazing. I saw people claimed the dish was fishy but I thought it tasted just like it should. The ambiance of the restaurant was elevated and made it seem like you were dining in NYC. Service was great! BYOB was nice to not have to pay for wine. Though the dinner was relatively expense I will definitely dine there again and thought it was worth it! read more

While Cotto has a lovely atmosphere and the food is enjoyable, it's significantly overpriced for what you get. Given all the excellent dining options in Morristown, I'd struggle to justify returning here. Case in point: their garlic bread is $15 for what amounts to the size of a large muffin. At these prices, the service should be impeccable, but it fell notably short. Our server attempted to clear our plates twice while we were still eating, and throughout the evening I observed dishes being delivered to tables where diners were clearly still working on their current course. For a restaurant at this price point, the level of service simply doesn't match the bill. read more

thought the food was very good. Baked oyster starter was the best dish I've had in a while. Squid ink pasta was also delicious-- and exactly the right portion size. We all ordered pasta main courses, so no chance to sample meat or fish dishes. Looking forward to trying several soon-- will definitely be going back. Good service. It was exciting to dine at a new Italian restaurant right here in downtown Morristown,, Cotto. The vibe in the restaurant was festive and fun, without being loud but rather happy people enjoying a delicious Sunday night dinner . The staff was friendly and accommodating; you felt cared for and attended to . The menu had old favorites as well as unique dishes; we had both in our choices of appetizers, main courses, and desserts . Had dinner there recently and the whole experience was a miserable time. The server started out friendly, but she took a turn for the worse pretty quickly. She went on and on about how the restaurant is true "authentic italian" style and that means we should be ordering 3-4 courses per person. When we ordered an appetizer each, a pasta to share, and a steak entree with sides, she basically scoffed at us and said, "so you're just sharing one entree?" Um, yes - we are sharing one $60 entree plus two other courses? It was obnoxious and over-the-top "upselling". The food was mediocre at best. The potato leek croquettes were unseasoned and tasted like dirty fryer oil. We asked the server for salt and she never brought it until midway through the second course. The steak was a minuscule portion for the price - unbelievably small to the point that it was almost offensive and felt like price gauging. The icing on the cake was listening to our server talk to the table next to us about following her instagram account all night while we were neglected and left to eat bland, unseasoned, overpriced food. read more

Everything was amazing. We really liked the seperate dishes, that are all a bit different. The inside is designed beautifully.

New place in town, needs to work out some issues - tables for 2 are way too close for diners and staff cannot navigate the banquette tables without bumping things. Server was either inattentive or intrusive, and very awkward at explaining things. Garlic bread app and burrata apps were good, excellent Italian sodas (most folks had BYOB). Chicken dish was excellent - good flavor and spicy but the risotto special with lobster and truffle was undercooked, bland and gritty. Unacceptable for $105. Menu options are limited and prices are very high for what you get. We skipped dessert as only 2 options and gelato. The space is lovely but staff need more experience for the cost here - need to decide if they are fine dining or casual and adjust the prices. Dining room could be arranged better for comfort and function. Hopefully things will improve and service will smooth out. read more

Cotto has beautifully re done the space. That's the best thing about this restaurant. For the price, the food was just okay (and when you're surrounded by other amazing restaurants, including sister restaurants like stirling tavern, the place could have stepped it up with food taste). While portions were small, it fits with the "Italian" theme of having an appetizer, a pasta, and an entree for a meal. The part that we disliked the most was that we asked for tap water three different times, and the Staff acted like we were crazy and/or talking in a different language. They all insisted on not understanding what "tap water" was and gave us "still" water instead which was then charged on the bill for each refill. We don't want this place to not be successful, but for the price, the food needs to step it up and the staff need to be trained in a different way (Feigning ignorance to the meaning of "tap water" made us feel dumb/less then) read more
