The food was delicious, I don't understand why people write bad reviews about the food, the salmon was light and with lots of flavor! The noodles were rich and also flavorful. The waiting was not too long as well, other reviews said the waiters were mean, but my waiter was kind and understanding, he also checked up on us to make sure we were ok. Guerriero's has been constantly fantastic for the 20 years we've been coming. They are as close to my grandmother's cooking as I can get.

One of a kind. Like stepping back in time, or into Italy...with class, authenticity, friendly greetings, delicious food and intimate ambiance. Don't forget to hit up the ATM across the street before, because like the retro feel you get, it is cash only, BYOB. You walk up to the restaurant feeling like you are in Sardinia or Rome and park at a table outside because it's a summer evening in NJ and you love to people watch. The waiters treat you like friends and/or family. Did you forget to bring your own wine, no problem! You can order from your table and they deliver right to you from the wine bar down the street! The wine shop was super helpful even over the phone! First they bring you super soft Italian bread with garlic olive oil to dip in and toasts with white bean salad, perfection! Then your wine arrives and the waiter opens for you and puts on ice while you order your food. You absolutely need the squash blossoms in your life. I've had a lot of them (it feels like a trending thing lately?) but these were by far the best in recent memory. So tender, so cheesy, they actually melt on the tongue. For my main I got a zucchini pasta with fried zucchini on top and the flavor was perfection! While we were eating Jack the owner came over and serenaded us several times, along with other tables! Let me start by saying We ate here a few months ago too with many friends but did not have the same experience. The service was terrible. Our waitress as we tried to be patient, she was totally spaced out--the food was not anything worth going back to in the future. We had apps, entrees, dessert, and coffee. Enjoyed a good dinner on a Wednesday night before a concert at the Mayo Theatre. We sat inside & service was excellent. Water was always filled & the table cleared appropriately. The place filled up & was very busy. Tables inside were spaced out nicely but outside they appear very tight. Owner was walking around & does not allow baseball hats on your head while dining so my husband was not too thrilled to take his off as his hair was a mess under it. However, the owner allowed his grand-daughter to wear the shortest & tightest shorts at the front desk - that turned us off. For meals we had fried calamari, stuffed zucchini blossoms, bolognese, "braciolole" with pasta, shrimp fry diavo, & ravioli. Out of all those dishes, the only one we did not care for was the blossoms as they were filled w/cheese & took away from the delicateness of the blossom. We had coffee & cannoli's. A-ok Italian standards served cheerfully on Morristown's best patio. Pasta dishes about $25, chicken and veal about $30. Bring your own Chianti and cash. The front wall opens wide here so even if you're inside, you're almost outside, which is good for all of us still a bit worried about virus exposure. But everybody wants to be outside and the patio seating is very close together. They start you with an amuse bouche of white beans on toast, a basket of sliced bread and a dish of oil with roasted garlic cloves. We tried the fried zucchini appetizer, thin sticks breaded lightly and fried perfectly, very good, $13. I tried the wild boar papperdelle , a modest portion of wide pasta, lightly sauced and topped with a bit of shredded pork, $25. My dining companion opted for the tagliatelle Bolognese, a fairly standard pasta and meat sauce, $21. Pasta portions here are just right for one person, you're probably not taking any leftovers home. Vegetarian rating: three stars, there's pasta with garlic and pepper, eggplant rollatini, salads, and appetizers like the zucchini or mozzarella. For Tuesday lunch they serve an "Italian taco," which they tell me is a breaded and fried chicken breast in the shape of a shell and filled with all kinds of goodies, have to try that sometime! read more

Sadly disappointed by this place. First, we were given the absolute last table in the place - next to the kitchen, store room and back hall. Place was not full and we had a reservation so that didn't make a good first impression. Took almost ten minutes to get a waiter. No discussion - just "are you ready". We were there with our nieces for their first Nutcracker and I was hoping for a bit more. Food was ok - nothing special. Veal piccata was too lemony and blah otherwise. Penne Vodka was just ok. Didn't try the other dishes - bolognese and Pasta Guerriero's but neither got finished. Took ten minutes to get more bread for the very hungry kids while we waited for meals. I had been here pre-Covid but I've been here more frequently while Covid is going on. I have to say I am so impressed how this restaurant has continued to run efficiently and be there for the people during this hard time. They continuously offer dinner specials and I haven't gotten anything I have not enjoyed. They didn't have something in last night that my friends and i were craving but it's okay. Everything that we ordered was delicious. Leigh is so wonderful and accommodating and Jack makes you feel like you are part of the family. The menu has some thing for everybody and the restaurant is BYOB right on South Street. I wish I had come here more before but I will continue to give them my business. One of the best Italian BYOB's in the Morristown area located right next to the Morristown, PAC center Jack the owner is always there overseeing every dish that leaves the kitchen. Everything is made fresh and delicious. I love when they have stuffed artichokes on the menu. God is one of our favorites and they are very good there. Definitely give it a try. This is the second time we've been here with friends. The first time was in their previous location and it was excellent. Food was great and the service was better. Don't know what happened to this place, but the whole experience, especially the service, was not good at all. Going to start with the service. In all my years going to restaurants, this might have been the rudest server we have ever encountered. I'd mention here name but that would be indiscreet (Janice). This woman was not friendly in the least, in fact she looked annoyed that she had to serve us. When we asked her to tell us the specials, she said they were texted to us. Well one person got that text and there were six of us. When we asked again if she could tell us, she just walked away from us in disgust. Forget about asking her to open our wine bottles, which we did, and she never came back. Had to get one of the other servers to open our bottles for us. Then, to top it off, with the nastiest of attitude, she took our orders, making the whole ordering process very uncomfortable. This is not the restaurant experience you want when you are going out to have an enjoyable evening with friends. We're a pretty easy going bunch and normally would let this slide, but this was just way too much. My good friend and his wife complained to the manager and the hostess about this, expressing that this was completely unacceptable. Well, in their favor, from that point on, we received stellar service that was friendly, attentive and even above and beyond what you would expect. Now to the food, which was unremarkable to say the least. I will say that I did enjoy my meal, the Pork Chop Parmigiana, pounded thin, lightly breaded then sautéed, finished with the Sunday gravy & fresh mozzarella. Most everyone else, were less than impressed. My wife's Snapper Oreganata, was small portioned and lacked a lot of flavor. The Snapper Livornese was also just OK, nothing special. Even the Seafood Trio app, which everyone shared, was again, just OK. The Grilled Shrimp over Arugula, might have been one of the better apps. I guess the theme here is that everything is just OK, nothing special and the prices they are charging, doesn't match the quality of the food. To conclude here, if you check my reviews, I am a pretty fair reviewer and usually generous with my ratings, however I really had to point this out in hopes that they take this review to heart and improve things here. I have to say this is one of my favorite restaurants in morristown. The food is tasty, hot, and fresh. My go to is the calamari for an appetizer because its perfectly cooked and tiramisu for dessert. I must say the portions are generous and I always have leftovers to take home. Their chicken parm is perfectly breaded, thin, and lean and the sauce is not too heavy. The owners and staff are very attentive. When making reservations they always text you the specials of the day with pictures. I make sure to peak at what other tables get and the dishes never disappoint. As for take out, this restaurant does an amazing job. unlike many others, I must say that my food is always hot. The first time I went to Guerriero's was at their old location, about 6 years ago. At the time I raved about it - it was genuinely some of the best Italian food I've ever had. I don't spend much time in Morristown, but it stuck in my mind enough that I really wanted to go back one day. Yesterday was that day, and I can't believe how disappointed I am at what this restaurant has turned into. Let's start with the weird stuff first - I have literally never heard of a restaurant only accepting payment via "cash, check, or venmo". Weird, but not a big deal. Just be aware for if you go. So now the actual experience. Our server was very nice, but basically MIA for the vast majority of our meal. The restaurant was definitely busy though, so I don't know that I can reasonably blame him for that, as I know many restaurants are understaffed right now. That said, the service was certainly slow, and check ins for water refills or quality of the food were rare. But hey, it's still pandemic time. They get a pass for this (and this is mostly why this review is two stars and not one) What they do not get a pass for is high prices charged for extremely mediocre food. We got the breaded mozzarella and broccoli rabe/long hots with sausage and potatoes as appetizers. The breaded mozzarella was bizarrely more bread than mozzarella, and didn't come with marinara or anything. I suppose it was fine, but not something I'd get again. The latter dish was probably the highlight of the whole meal, but even then it was... a little odd. When you see a dish is supposed to come mixed with potatoes, you would expect roasted potatoes or fried potatoes, not... Literal homemade potato chips thrown on top. Strange, but tasted pretty good. Not something I'd pay $20 for again, but pretty good. My entree, though, just made me angry. I got the "risotto special", which was a creamy risotto with asparagus, "sundried tomato" and shrimp. I put sundried tomato in quotes because this presumably flavorful ingredient was completely missing, instead replaced with small chunks of what seemed like either unripe whole diced tomato or red pepper. It came as a couple scoops of risotto with 5 small shrimp circled along the sides. This risotto tasted like absolutely nothing. It tasted like... creamy white rice (which sure could've used some sundried tomato to add any amount of flavor, for the record). The shrimp added were very flavorful and I liked them, but they were small and few in number. Then I saw what they were charging for this on the bill... $32. Consider me blown away. I will say though, my boyfriend got chicken Parm and I thought it was very good (though also expensive). So maybe I just got unlucky here with my order. If you do end up going, strictly sticking to the Italian staples might be a good idea. Again... high price, pandemic time, some things could maybe be forgiven if the food was still good. And most of it wasn't actively bad, just... so, so mediocre. There is so much amazing Italian food in new jersey that I have no idea why you'd go here, save for trying to remember how good it once was. Well, that's out of my system now, and I can absolutely say with certainty that I will never be back. read more

The worst food I have ever had since my student years. I had dinner with my family at this restaurant and the salmon I had was terrible it seemed like it was reheated for the fifth time. I couldn't eat the linguine and the salmon. I left it on my plate. My wife's chicken parm was the very sour and greasy. Was absolutely and epic failure. I'll never go to that place again. Also the owner came next to me and asked if I moved the bench where my wife and my daughter were sitting on and cursed the next restaurants waiter in front of mg five year old. Cross Posted (figured I would also use this platform as the Management did very little to assure safety and inclusivity of their guests after initial review)::: Morristown boasts about being an inclusive community but the management of Guerrieros, specifically the owner, Jack Guerriero, does VERY little to provide a safe and inclusive environment at his eatery. We will NEVER be back to this establishment given the way we were treated. It is unacceptable and I hope those reading take a stance against this place because Jack should not be enabled to get away with this type of behavior as a representative of the Morristown community. Read below for our experience: My husband and I attended this establishment for a dinner with our friends and their young daughter. My husband is an American Sikh and has his head covered at all times with either a turban or a bandana with a baseball cap. He happened to be wearing the bandana/hat covering for our experience. During our meal, my husband was tapped with an older gentlemen's cane, who I now know to be the owner Jack Guerriero. Jack proceeded to berate my husband for wearing a baseball cap, questioning if he had cancer or another excuse to wear a baseball hat. We explained that he covers his head for religious reasons. Jack did not ask questions or make a polite request for the hat to be removed. Rather, he made several comments about how my husband should not be present. He was completely out of line and his approach was rude and condescending. Nowhere in the restaurant nor online is there a posting on the restaurant's dress code guidelines. To make matters worse, at the end of our meal, we were told that we had to leave due to other customers needing to be seated. We were told this message by a screaming Jack Guerriero who was shaking a pointed finger at us from across the restaurant. As we walked out after paying, Jack proceeded to harass and yell profanity at us to "Get the F*** out" and "Don't ever come back" in front of a packed restaurant and in front of our friends' young daughter, as well as other children and guests. I have never felt so belittled and embarrassed in my life. No one attending a nice meal with friends should be harassed due to wearing a baseball cap. There are better ways for the message to be delivered. His completely unprofessional and berating manner demonstrates how nasty of a character Jack truly is and how intolerant he is of anyone that doesn't fit his mold of acceptable guests. I do want to note that the wait staff was great. The outburst by Jack and his inappropriate behavior is not a reflection on them and the wonderful service they provided. read more

Guerriero's is a classic hometown Italian restaurant serving classics and a few unique dishes as well. Note that this is byob and cash only, important to know before stopping by. As far as food quality it is worth a stop, and better than your average neighborhood Italian. They have obviously been open a while and the service is good too, attentive and able to recommend some solid choices. The owner is a wonderful guy who stopped by our table to check in, and had a nice conversation with us. Can't beat the home-style feel. The meatballs and stuffed mushrooms for an app were both good, whereas the salads we had were forgettable. The entrees had good flavor and could definitely yield multiple meals.
