Taco Tuesday is amazing! $2 Tacos , so good and great value for the price. I especially love the fish taco!

I used to really like Cotijas but the quality has fallen to a new low. Today I ordered the 2 fish taco combo, but what I got was 2 over-fried BEEF tacos. The beef was disgusting, bland, I couldn't eat the awful tacos, I threw them in the trash. I also received cold refried beans and cold rice, how is this even possible??? The Door Dash driver got to my house in two minutes and it was in a sealed plastic food container. This is very dangerous to serve food at an unsafe temperature, people will get sick as bacteria forms and grows if left sitting around below the correct temperature. And the last annoying oversight? No hot sauce at all, which may have masked the terrible taste of the beef. Improve how you do business before you make people sick. I am no longer a fan of Cotijas. read more

My husband and son got food poisoning from the Temecula restaurant on Sunday, Jan 19, 2025. They both had carne asada burritos at around 2pm. Both had vomiting and diarrhea for two days. We won't be going there again. read more

Super disappointed in service and food quality they got my order wrong. I used to always go to the one in San Diego but I'll never order from here again d'sotos in old town Temecula is better than this place. We ordered 6 items and they got 3/6 wrong like come on do you even try. Looking at other reviews they mess up orders often. Waste of a Saturday night treat yourself meal don't make the same mistake I did we threw away more than half of it. Not sure if I hated the food because I was sober though disclaimer is that I mostly ate there in San Diego after a fun night or drinking back in my clubbing days so who knows. read more

Came back after a year or so to give Cotijas another chance, and so pleased I did. Happy to find Improved Food and Service at 4pm Monday. Burrito price did went up due to inflation from $10 to $13 (like everything else in the world) but Wow it was worth it this time. The owners must have read my last review, and I'm so happy the burritos are fully loaded with their delicious meat! It's HUGE!! I need 2 hands to eat this burrito. That's the way a Carne asada should be!! I Love it!! And lady workers generously provided variety of salsa, hot sauce, and lime. Thank you, for listening to customer feedback. This review is in regard to this recent visit only. I have been here many times and have always enjoyed many of the menu items, but I just threw away a five pound, twenty dollar burrito! I had no idea how ridiculously large the mucho grande burrito is and while that isn't their fault, they could focus more on quality than bland quantity. The burrito is double wrapped (way too much tortilla) and said it comes with potatoes which are actually French fries and far too many at that. It was supposed to have cheese and sour cream, but the only cheese was on the top (ordered wet). The carne asada was just okay and not worth the lackluster flavor of the rest of this abomination. I don't believe I ate an 8th before cutting it open to see what they actual put in this thing. Don't bother with this item! Try the fish tacos - great! I've had so many great meals at cotijas so this isn't a slam on the restaurant, just this crappy burrito. read more

My review for this place is long overdue. Every time I come here, they are out of something or an ingredient for the item being ordered. On average, I come through twice a week. I honestly do not know how they manage to stay in business with always being out of things. The food is good, but for the $, it's not worth it.. For anyone wondering about that breakfast banner they have for 7.99, that's the hash brown, egg, cheese & sour cream burrito.. If you want hash brown, egg, cheese, sour cream, sausage & bacon, that's nearly $12. Hours are wrong, they definitely don't open up at 7am everyday. 4 times now, various days, I've come through in the mornings, after 7am which is supposedly when they open, however they are "closed". Came through at 745am, someone (staff) was there, window open.. No one around /responding. Today, I had some spare time, so I decided to run another errand & return. Came back through around 830, no such luck. Tried calling, no one ever answered. Went to the window, we got ignored. We won't be back to this location.. Went to another mexican place down the street, got 2 massive burritos (loaded lol), 2 drinks for $15 on their special. They are pretty tasty too, but their 5 star review will be on their page! read more

Not sure why this place has so so reviews. I read about the quantity and quality was bad, but that was not my experience. I got the Carne asada quessidilla and the fish tacos. The quesadilla was tasty and not too salty. The 1.99 fish taco was also pretty big. The quesadilla was kinda pricey but other than that, the place seems fine. I think this cotijas is just in a bad location. I believe if people can actually see it, it'd be doing a bit better. read more

This place is a drive thru only. There are no tables outside. There are 2 ordering intercoms but only 1 person managing both. I think this caused the wait time to be longer . I ordered The chicken bowl which was a nice portion size. The food came with two different types of hot sauce both were good and a decent spice. read more

Difficult to give a review on the establishment as the only customer service interaction is through the Drive Thru. No indoor or our door seating but nowadays it's not uncommon to eat from your car. They do have designated parking spots for in-car diners. We ordered the Chorizo Burrito without the beans $9.75. The burrito was huge but the filling could have used some seasoning. The pickled carrots lacked flavor as well. read more

First time I went there was great had the hot cheeto burrito. Today was my 2nd time going and I paid 12 bucks for fries with a little cheese on them and meat and a dour cream drizzle as to what they call carneasada fries..... From what the menu said and what I was expecting some guacamole on it. More cheese ast leave. Like I'm eating dry meat fries They could've done far better. Went through the drive thru and Susy took my order. She was probably the friendliest person I've ever had take my order at a taco shop drive thru. Unfortunately the food was extremely bland. Ordered the street tacos. Carnitas was fair. Not good but not terrible. Not enjoyable but I was hungry. The birria tacos had no flavor at all and the meat was so dry, I couldn't choke them down. I don't like to waste, so I rarely throw food in the trash. But these tacos were that bad. Not only no flavor, but so dry I could barely swallow the meat. In fairness to the taco shop, I did call to let them know that they should check their meat because it's so dry. They quickly offered to replace or refund the food. So that's was really nice. Unfortunately it's not worth driving 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back for it. Great service. Hopefully just a fluke on today's meat. read more

TLDR: Don't order from this place for delivery off any app. They mess up orders, and don't make it right. We ordered from Uber Eats this evening. An order of chicken rolled tacos was missing. Cojita's advised us to let Uber Eats know for a refund on that item. We know they cannot refund the delivery or tip fee. That's fine, it happens when you want delivery via a third party. Unable to drive, we reordered. We called them to confirm they got they order, and paid a second delivery fee and tip to Uber Eats. We received beef rolled tacos. Unfortunately the person who this was for cannot eat beef. We called Cojita's back directly because twice now they've made a mistake. The delivery drivers do not open the food for safety, so it's entirely the restaurant fault for both incidents. They told us that we should contact Uber Eats again. We reminded them that we've now paid a delivery and tip fee twice, and both mistakes have been their fault. We ask them how they might be able to make this right. We ask for a credit, a gift card, even just $20 cash, a discount on a future order, for someone there to deliver it, something. We are met with no on all fronts. They offer to remake the order free of charge if we come get it. Or we can reorder a third time on Uber Eats if we want delivery. We tell them we're unable to drive. They offer to give us 2 orders of chicken rolled taco's which isn't helpful as the rest of the party has already eaten. We've escalated to Uber Eats and to see if we can recoup our money their. For now, all we can do is leave a poor review and hope others see it so they don't have a similar experience. read more

Move-in day, living off of 2.5 hours sleep and we had not eaten anything much for 20+ hours. What shall we order? We are in So Cal so lets get Mexican food. Check out DoorDash and see Cotijas Taco Shop. Yum! We order for delivery on the app: Carne Asada Burrito, 5 Rolled Tacos with everything and a bag of chips. Order is to the new house in 25 minutes (score one for DoorDash). As we unpack we notice the burrito is pretty big as is the rolled tacos and even the bag of chips is large. Score one for Cotijas for quantity. I ordered the burrito and it is old school good. I missed the flavor of good Carne Asada (hard to find good carne asada in the Bay Area) and this burrito was all that and a bag of chips. Speaking of CHIPS! The chips were very good. We enjoyed them with some of the wonderful salsa. My wifes rolled tacos were also fantastic. This is something else impossible to find in the Bay Area. Cotijas delivered on flavor - so yes, quantity and quality. All in all Cotijas earned a 5 star review. Happy to be back in Southern California and happy to get old school mexican food. read more

I've said it once and I'll say it again, this is the ONLY real mexican tasting taco shop in Temecula! I am born and raised in Chula Vista so when i moved here i tried nearly every taco shop around town in hopes to find a good spot and nothing tasted "authentic". Cotijas has the best taste, huge portions and the right prices. I mean look at my picture, the cali burrito is the size of my forearm! As it should! This is what a real burrito should look like. Other places around here sell you chimichanga size burritos for over $13. Also pictured is the large portion of carne asada fries that taste amazing. Won't order again Ordered carne asada chips and rolled tacos via door dash. I live 2 miles away and everything was cold. Not sure how the rolled tacos could be cooked but arrived cold. Way too much beans on the chips and where is the steak. Zero flavor other than it itasted off. Got Vegetarian Chips through the drive-thru for $8.99. Service and speed was okay. Food was cold (got home and started eating within 10 min of receiving food). Cheese on top unmelted. Beans were in the center at the bottom below almost all of the chips. Was surprised after seeing that a half order of carne-asada chips (a part of this same order) had more food in it for a cheaper price. Flavor was okay. Presentation is everything!!! I ordered a breakfast burrito and the portion was substantial, so much so that I asked the server if the burrito was cut in half and I then asked if he would cut it in half. He did, he took my bag and he seemed indifferent which was fine, however, what I received back conveyed a different message. I'm not in food service but I know that if you cut a sandwich or burrito you then wrap the item to keep it in tack. When I opened the bag the sauce was spilled all over as well as the insides of my burrito. I feel like he was servicing me scraps from his table. So much more I want to say but I digress. I love Mexican food because I was raised by my mother who taught me how to cook. Everything taste better when someone else does the cooking right? I just moved here to Fallbrook and I was looking for a good Mexican restaurant when I don't want to cook. I stumbled over Cotijas and I was amazed at the food. It tasted like I was eating at mom's! I haven't tried everything at Cotajas but enjoy everything I've eaten. Their rolled tacos are delicious and why not have a serving of that Caldo de Res. I tried their potato rolled tacos and I think a little more seasoning would do the job. Get to know Enrique and he will take good care of you. So if you want good Mexican food, give Cotijas a try!!! I'm not really a person that likes Mexican food. My girlfriend loves it though. We ended up going here and I have to say this place is really good. This is the only Mexican fast food place I will eat. The chicken bowl is my favorite. The chicken is marinated and isn't all dried out. A burrito that tasted fishy, cold, staleiish, unsalted chips, a bean cheese and rice burrito which was literally a huge flour tortilla with nothing but refried beans, and the worst part, shit costed me more than $40- to make me feel sick and grossed out, come ON !!!
