I have been a Costco member for years, not only a member but a loyal member, however, my recent experience left me in a shock and deeply disappointed. I was treated based on my color and I know I am not the only one that had experience such treated over the years. Being a Costco member, spending $800 to $1000 every month, I wrote to the CEO of Costco to complain about how I was treated at the Manassas store on Saturday 8/2/2025. I felt disgraced and not wanted as a customer. This is what happened, I drove about 40 minutes to the Costco in Manassas, VA and was there around 9:30am. Upon entering the store and scanning my card, I was refused entry to the store. I was asked to either upgrade my card to the black card or would not be allowed to enter the store until 10am. I told them I never knew about this new law and never notified about this. No answer was given to me. A few minutes later, I saw a white guy with the same card as mine allowed into the store. When I questioned that, I was lied to, telling me that he has upgraded already. If he had upgraded, why was he still holding the same card as mine? The manager was called, and she has no customer service ethics, instead, she repeated the same thing the other guy had said. I am so disappointed and felt discrimination. So, I wrote an email to the CEO of Costco and I an email from someone by name of Jill Jordan who claimed to be the general manager. The email claimed I was called but no voicemail left and no missed call. So, I replied to the manager and said that I did not see a missed call from him/her. And that was it. The question lies, why do we really shop at Costco, a company that we pay to shop in their stores and yet don't really want us there. Are their goods better than other stores like Walmart, Sam's Club, BJs etc, no, never and Costco is not cheaper than the other stores either. I gave the general manager time to see if he/she was going to call me or email me back, but never. of course, I am not as important as other customers, why would they contact me anyway. One of the worst Costcos in the area, unfortunately the one we live closest to. Just purchased an item that was in the Merchandise Pick-up room and it had already been opened -- didn't realize this until I got home. On the same trip, none of the strawberries were good -- the containers that had fresh strawberries were smashed on the bottom. Also purchased a case of canned beverages and the cans were also smashed. Management needs to quality check how the folks who put the merchandise in its place or re-train them. read more

The newly formulated muffins are terrible. Some customers wanted the original muffins smaller, and Costco could have made a smaller version for those customers. Instead, Costco revised the recipe, made all muffins smaller, pricier and they taste like corn bread. I threw out the muffins. Located off of Sudley, this Costco can be bustling at peak hours. Similar to other Costcos, they offer appliances, auto/tires, items for babies and kids, clothing, handbags, computers/printers, electronics, furniture, hardware, health and beauty products, home/decor items, jewelry/watches, office products, patio/outdoor items, items for pets, and travel/luggage items. During these uncertain times, I felt as if this particular Costco did a great job in upkeeping and maintaining safety/sanitary conditions for their customers, in addition to being helpful, being organized, and having a sense of decorum! Lining up with the carts were clearly marked, and all members were able to follow the clear procedure set in place. All carts that were returned by exiting customers were sprayed with bleach, wiped down with wipes, and then handed over to the entering customers. All staff had gloves and face masks on at all times. Only limited number of members were let in at a time, based on the members who were exiting - this ensured that there was plenty of room to move around and to exercise social distancing. There were some Costco members who were monitoring the aisles to kindly remind some of the members to make sure that they are being considerate of not being too to one another. Check-out lines can be backed up, but the cashiers try to work as efficiently as possible - there was clearly marked lines for those to line up with their carts. Since it's closest to us, this is our go-to Costco, & today's visit was a treat. The pandemic has had us visiting less frequently than in the past, so we had quite a few basics to pick up, plus we needed four new tires put on one of our cars. Had made an appt. for the tire installation, & were taken care of promptly & given an estimate of about an hour to 90 minutes. So we popped in to do our shopping. Was able to procure everything on our list except two items (their own brand of wonderful "Organic No-Salt Herb Seasoning" & large-size "Kikkoman Soy Sauce"), but did score a couple of nice surprises - large jars of imported Castelvetrano olives, which I love & which they haven't carried for about ten years now, & some pristinely fresh-looking tuna steaks for only $15.00/# & that weren't from Southeast Asia, an area from which I refuse to buy seafood from. Monday is definitely THE day to go Costco shopping. For the first time in our Costco lives (we've been members since it was known as "Price Club") there were no (yup - you heard me correctly) lines at the cashiers. And car/tires were ready in an hour. And although between the tires & our stock-up shopping we dropped around $1,200 at Costco today, we'll at least get a little of that back at the end of the year via our Costco Visa card cash-back program. (Oh, & one of Costco's wonderful rotisserie chickens is on the menu for dinner tonight.) read more

A few weeks ago, I wrote a complaint about Costco's customer service. A few days later, a customer service representative called me to discuss the unpleasant experience I had. She assured me that she would share my feedback with the management team. Since then, I have continued to shop at Costco and noticed a significant difference. When I walk in, people say hello, and when I check out, they say hello and thank you. As I leave, a gentleman wishes me a wonderful day and thanks me for shopping there. I decided today that I was going to get a Costco membership and when I was buying it they only took visa so I had to use my daughters debit card in order to pay for the membership. As a mother this is really embarrassing!! Then after shopping for a good 2 hours we went to checkout and they only took visa!! I once again used my daughter's debit card which had worked before, and it declined it!! After getting some help the regular cash registers still didn't take the debit card!! I had to leave that store without any groceries and now my kids are hungry. I don't recommend going here until they get rid of this ridiculous thing where they only take visa. read more

My family shops here all the time. We bought a costco interstate battery here for our C-RV for a very good price. I looked up the part number online and went to the car and battery area seperate from the main store and it was readily available on the shelf. Battery is warrantied for 3 years. The police often shop here. Hence the name Copsco. I love Costco stores, but I do have some major issues with them. And yes we are paying members of Costco so I feel well within my rights to air these grievances. Most Costco stores will insist on checking my receipt at the door every time. The only exceptions are the stores in the very rich majority white suburbs. I don't like that there are exceptions, but there are. And I don't like being treated like a criminal. And being asked if my bubble tea was bought in the store or not? And where was it bought? And I don't like being patronized either. They officially say it's to stop their customers being overcharged. Do you think we are stupid? I'm sorry but the guard doesn't know the prices of the things he's checking. He just wants to make sure we're not stealing them. Bad enough at Walmart, but at a store we spend 55 a year just to be a part of? And also, let me say that this particular store didn't have as much stuff as the Woodbridge location, or the Houston one I usually go to either, and what's more, there were very few free sample booths around, whereas the one in Woodbridge had about 25 of them going at the same time (and I loved them!). In general, I am not much of a fan of wholesale clubs. But I became a member of our local Costco in 2017 and have never looked back. The thought of spending money to enter a place to spend more money, just didn't make a lot of sense. But that first year I saved enough on car tires that more than paid for my yearly membership. We take advantage of the bulk items from this store all of the time, even though our family is small. Having a freezer and space for dry good storage does help us. read more

Costco has the worst online shopping experience. I order bunch of appliances from them. (Order number 1072022246). The first issue is it took 2 months to get all the appliances. Although it was saying 2 weeks for arrival. The second issue is the dishwasher came with a dent. I contacted with them thasound times here is the reference number for my chat with your agent. 231210-001695. The agent offered me $100 gift card for the dent since it was out of stock so replacement was not an option. Also another $100 for late shipping. I am told that shopping card would arrive in email in 2 weeks. After that I chatted with them, called them so may times. Every time I am told that there was a problem with the system so the card was not issued. They said they issued this time and it should arrive again 2 weeks. We have been an executive member for 25+ years. I avoid weekends but went to the Manassas store on Saturday. Busy does not quite describe the store but we managed to maneuver through the store. We stopped to sample a new Feta Dip, since we have never eaten this product. We rarely sample since we avoid weekend shopping at Costco. The product representative was very surly & actually complained about the customers. We tried to be nice & engage in conversation but she was quasi nasty. We finally walked away without a sample. We walked past another demo & the young woman insisted we try the spring rolls. I was not interested but my husband acquiesced. The sample was very good & we purchased a box. Okra's, Glory Days & McCormick & Schmicks. Gas, plentifully and cheap, always .10 less than the next cheapest pump. Great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. Quality price and cuts of beef, pork & chicken. They have an incredible selection of wine and beer at bottom dollar prices. They also carry LOCAL wines! Costco uses a company called FH Furr as their local HVAC vendor. Furr came out and provided a quote to replace our exist heat pump with a new Lenox 14 SEER basic heat pump. Quote was $13000 dollar, with Costco discounts the quote came down to $9200.00. The quote was still $3000.00 more than the two competing quotes we recieved. If you call Costco for HVAC, do yourself a favor and get a couple additional quotes. FH Furr, "the man on the back of truck" was ridiculously expensive and not helpful. I've been to a number of Costco locations - this by far is the easiest one to navigate around inside - with large number of folks milling about. Great prices on Blu ray players, and electronics in general. Picked up a Panasonic Blu Ray player, fire extinguishers, and USB memory stick three packs here. Contrary to Pitbull D.'s statement - they accept AMEX cards - period. Not just Costco Amex. I've used my USAA AMEX at this and other Costco locations with no problem. read more

Had a terrible experience with Costco Tire Center in Manassas VA. Told it would take 3 to days to get a tire replaced under warranty. Took them 11 days to determine they could not get the tire from there distributor. Had to argue with them to get the tire from another Costco. Then picked up my car and it had damage at the same area where the tire was replaced. Was told management would call me but that has not happened, they are worthless! read more

I've been coming here for years and today my experience at self checkout was bad. Firstly, this location does not provide enough motorized carts for people who have a hard time walking. I went shopping for my mother who has a hard time walking. Did all the shopping and went to self check out, now they have a person checking the store ID and was told that If the person is not physically in the store (sitting in the vehicle outside) you can't shop for them. Never had a problem before doing it and my dad who had the other card couldn't come today. Normally, I have no complaints but this was just ridiculous. Next thing you know, I won't be able to pump gas for my mother. For being overpriced, you need to be a little more accommodating. read more

A really bad set up today. Just wanted to go to customer service desk (which is on the way out of the store) to ask a question. I was told that I must stand in a long line for entry, walk through the store and back out through the check out registers just to speak to customer service (with nobody waiting). A little common sense from the manager would have been really helpful here. Instead they just created another disgruntle customer who will remember the way he was treated everytime he comes into the store. Now instead of seeing if I could fix a problem, I will bring my item back for a return since I have to stand in line anyway. The manager here needs to be more customer friendly. Also I feel they need to figure out how to make the two main isle less congested by shoppers trying to get in line. This place is wonderful, always has what's offered in stock and good deals on alot of things. Not everything is a good deal in there do you still have to compare prices. The only downside to this place is the overwhelming crowds. The parking is crazy, getting into the store, maneuvering around, waiting in line and leaving is a PIA because of the sheer volume of people. Yet I still go every so often. This review is for the Costco Tire Center . Repeatedly I have had poor communication with a tire center that appears understaffed. I won't be being my tires here again. Often times cannot get through on the phone. Today service man said my vehicle was ready and I took Uber to get here from work to be told my car was not ready. The serviceman also said they tried to reach me and did not. That is not true. I called back and told him how I wanted to proceed. This is a review for the Costco pharmacy and specifically for one of the pharmacists named Marilyn (not sure if I spelt that correctly) that works there. She is an older woman and by far the friendliest pharmacist I have ever met! She is extremely kind, compassionate and always smiling.
