    The necklace in question

    I went by the Manassas store today to return some items I had purchased the previous night on 4/22 and the cashier called for the store mgr named Elise R to approve the return as the jewelry was over $200. This jewelry was purchased last night from the TJ Maxx in Vienna / Falls Church where I had spent around $500. And after church, I went by today to return the jewelry because it was too long. The manager who by the name Elise R approaches the counter and looked me dead in the eye and said 'No, I can't return this jewelry because I have no way of verifying if it's real gold.' I was in utter shock and embarrassed by this statement because either she insinuated that I a Black woman may have changed the item and brought it back to the store to request a refund or TJ Maxx sold fake gold jewelry. Either way, she held the jewelry, inspected it, and after seeing the tag was very much intact proceeded to suggest I take it back to the store I had initially purchased it from. I was almost in tears at the disbelief. One, you are trying to inconvenience me to go back to Vienna when I had initiated a return from out of state before and your store accepted it. I was thinking of so many things and because I was raised right I didn't argue and left the store with my jaw in my hands. I immediately called the Vienna store to confirm their store policy which states I can return to any other TJ Maxx provided I have my receipt and I'm within 30 days of purchase. I am within 24 hours and still livid that this manager lacks good customer service skills and is allowed to run the store in the first place. Elise R if you ever see this, I will suggest getting retrained on simple etiquette and on customer service because you're lacking how to communicate effectively and your tone is condescending.

I am very disappointed with Kohl's and its policies. One of the items I ordered was not available for shipping so I needed to pick it up from the store. This was an inconvenience itself since the whole point of me ordering online was so that I would NOT have to deal with parking, driving, etc. to the store. I paid for the total and earned $15 in Kohl's Cash. As a paying customer, I was under the impression that I PAID for my item. I was unable to pick it up and assumed that since I PAID for the item, it would be held. When I went to use my Kohl's Cash, I was informed that it was revoked because I did not pick up MY item that I PAID for. The item was then reshelved at the store and I was told that it would be taken off my bill. I wanted the item. I paid for the item. I purchased it as a gift for my sister. I did not receive a courtesy call that it would be forfeit. I don't understand why this would happen. How is this a good business policy? The customer has already paid for the item. It has become a profit. Why in the world would any company choose to refund the customer for an item that he/she clearly wanted that was bought and paid for? Plus, the customer service I spoke to on the phone was very unhelpful. They tried to be courteous by English was definitely not their native language. I had to call repeatedly until a supervisor told me there was nothing that could be done. Even though I had gone to the storefront to RE-purchase the item. This is the first instance in which I was highly disappointed in Kohl's customer service and policy...And I have been shopping there for years! I am tempted to just return ALL the items I purchased and not shop there again! What in the world is going on, Kohl's?
