Being non-insured (shhhhhhhh don't tell the government that any time after July 1st!) Costco's was the best discovery for me. I'd been using CVS to fill my prescriptions until the fateful day I was informed that one particular med I'd been switched to would cost me $170, and that was with my AAA discount included. For something that needs to be re-filled monthly, that just wasn't going to happen. My mom is a therapist and a couple different patients of hers had mentioned that you could get meds filled at Costco for a lot less. I wasn't thrilled with changing where I had to go from a pharmacy literally outside the door of my work to Everett, but I figured I'd check it out. The prescription that was $170 at CVS? Ended up being $30 at Costco. And it was filled within 20 minutes for me, while I just killed some time walking through the store, trying out the samplers. For anyone who is without insurance, I highly recommend Costco as an alternative to CVS and Brooks. read more

Forget about the customer service at this store. If you like Costco, go to other Costco stores. This is the follow up about the moldy rotten noodles that Costco sold. I went to ask for a refund and showed the receipt and the picture of the moldy food. The refund rep said I need to show them the moldy food. I explain that I don't want to keep the mold at home, and the rep said "you can put the moldy noodle in a zip bag and put it in a fridge!!!!" Who the hell in the world would do that??? He further questioned why I came back 4 months later. Well, it's far from my place and I just don't come to Costco often. The $2 hand-dipped to order ice cream bar, encrusted with big chunky almond pieces on the outside- Gone! And when did they take it away? During the SUMMER. Costco ROCKS! Besides the obvious 10 gallon jugs of mayo and 32 packs of red bull..........yes, I am sure it has been said before...yet I will just have to chime in on why I am in love with Costco. Everytime I go there, I proudly whip out my ID card and wink and the guy with the counter...than I slowly........no just kidding.... OK first. They have an inhouse ophthalmologist who ROCKS! It is under $100 for the exam and tests with no insurance. Than they have excellent frames. Gucci, Prada, Kate Spade!!!!!!!!! High end will run 80-100 and the average frames being $40...Extra for the lens and anti glare, but you will save a TON at Costco versus LensCrafters Costco also has contacts $15 bucks a box!!! YAY for the Blind!!! Next clothes....You have to look.....and you won't always find it....but every once in a while there will be cute sneakers, sweat suits or winter jackets or even jeans that are worth it......I always make it a point to browse. than just hop one aisle over to socks and underwear....Cool... Also if you ever have to get a baby gift, they have gorgeous little outfits and bibs..... Make sure to check out the Cd, Dvds, and books....yeah it's a given as to why...............They always have great gift for kids/teens.. Last year I got my niece this huge case of tools and beads to make jewelry...for $12. Car mats...really nice ones for all four spots =$20 stick rollers to take away dog hair, lint...pack of five for $9 Next head over to the beauty section....Last time they had a huge Smashbok kit for $20 and YSL mascara for $16......so cool!!!!!!! Whenever I mention "Everett", the first thing the person Im talking to does is smile, and I mean big, goofy smile. The second thing they do is say "Costco!!!". If I didn't know what costco was I would have thought it was some kind of magical land with lots and lots of chocolate. What's funny is that, thats kinda true. It's a magical place with lots and lots of items in bulk, including the chocolate. I haven't been to any of the other Costcos in Massachusetts but compared to the one in Texas that I used to go to, this one gives out tons more samples! Unfortunately, this location does not have gas pumps. But it is near an ample amount of other good stores and restaurants. Don't need something in bulk? Go right across the parking lot to Target. This location has it all! Just like the Costco itself. But in bulk. Now that's awesome. read more

DD Coffee, 2.5 lb bag $17 soft mens gloves 9$ huge packs of personal/hygiene items...around 10$ huge packs of fresh or frozen fish and tilapia...5$/lb!!! @#$ a consistent sprinkling of orgranic foods!!! in spring and summer, i rock the fresh fruit packs for dirt cheap!!!!!!!!!!! yay smoothies... huge double-packs of refill clear hand soap 7.99$!!!! 2 baguettes 4.49$$ !!! love these for parties yum... got a good deal on pillows once but don't remember the price, but im cheap, so u can bet i did well.. magazines 30% off... I rent an apt but for those who rent or own a home, some decent looking furniture and accessories....oy, the sheets and blankets... eventhough they are nutitionaly void the chicken bakes are yummy chicken and ham pockets...the pizza looks gross... if you know prices, you can do well here...a few things do not seem cheaper (like certain laundry items etc), only have more product for accordingly more money (a conevnience for business or families no doubt not not necessarily a money-saver...) another thing to know...unless im mistaken, i believe they only take debit, cash or the american express you apply for and get from costco...i cannot use my faithful, decade-old visa... read more

Love Costco! They have a lot more organic items now which saves me some money than going to a regular grocery store. Organic eggs, milk, butter, and fuji apples are some of the items that I get. Love their free sample stations when they have them. Remember to stop by their alcohol section before heading out. Also save some money there. read more

It is a huge vanilla ice cream fresh dipped in milk chocolate and almonds. It is huge and ONLY $1.50!!! Yes, you have to drive to Everett or any Costco location but it is Ohhhhh so worth it. Just Google images "ice cream bar costco" and check it out...wow! The rest of the store is standard warehouse goodness of giant bargains. We finally joined Costco when we had our daughter one year ago, when stocking up on things like paper towels and napkins really started to make sense. I have a mixed opinion on the place so far, though I really want to like it. My thoughts: PROS: Great deals on electronics, bulk paper products (toilet paper, etc) and health/beauty products. If you have the space to store dry goods and they carry the one or two specific brands of shampoo or toothpaste that you like, you can get extremely good deals. They also have an awesome liquor store within the warehouse, and a tire center that we haven't yet used but have heard great things about. Parking is easy, and it's close to our home in Malden. Also, I was surprised to find out that they carry plenty of organic meat, dairy and produce, which is all that we buy. Easy to feed the baby well from here! CONS: Really inconvenient hours. Limited selection of brands. MASSIVE quantities that are suitable only if you have a pretty big house. We have a small fridge, and short of buying an extra freezer, we will never be able to stock up on most of the frozen food here. ALSO: things from Costco spoil really, really REALLY quickly. That 3-pack of organic milk for $11? Great deal, until you find that the third bottle always spoils two weeks before the sell-by date. Same with that chicken salad and bag of rolls you thought would get you lunches for the week. Finally, and probably the worst con of all: the customer service. They make it impossible to return things, even the aforementioned sour milk. Take a place like Trader Joe's that asks no questions, and Costco ought to do better on this. Overall, we are glad that we joined -- deals like $120 for two Sonicare toothbrushes are hard to come by even on Amazon -- but we are pretty annoyed at how rude the staff can be and how quickly the food goes bad. I pretty much love all things way under or way over-sized. At Cosco, I'm ecstatic to find both minis and supers. In the category of mini, we find small replicas of complicated furniture ensembles, tents, patio furniture, and boats... all perfectly sized for My Buddy and Kid Sister... Super sized sensations at Costco include giant jars of pickles, peanut butter, nuts, peppers, and olives... restaurant sized cans of tomoatoes and mayo, and packages of every morsel you can imagine in rations of year-long proportion. There's a membership fee, but it's not a lot... and the bulk-buying practice alone is worth the small charge... Cosco also has a tire center, food court, travel specials, and tables strewn with cheap clothes. I spent an hour in there... and didn't even see half the store... If they rented rooms, I'd probably live there. read more

Liked this place up until JOHN cussed me out over a month ago. He's in his mid-30s to early 40s, wears glasses, has a buzzcut with like 15 strands of hair sitting on the top of his head. This unstable man was supervising the self check out line, and apparently didn't like the way I was checking out my items, so he came over to yell at me about it [backstory - I was scanning items, scanned a bag of rice which prompted machine to tell me not to place item on tray as it did before, but before I can hear the machine this big man comes charging in], escalating things when he said "well if you would f**king listen, you would know." DO I LOOK LIKE I WORK HERE? HOW WOULD I KNOW HOW EVERYTHING WORKED?? YES, because as a weak woman, I should listen when a MAN hits me with knowledge. I have previously complained, but I didn't have his name, so I will report him AGAIN. John - your behavior is absolutely unacceptable. I've seen you say nice things to people ("Hey man, have a nice holiday"), where was that when I was checking out? Be still my beating heart ... How can you not love Costco? Buying non perishables in bulk is about as American as mandatory jury duty. All kidding aside, this review is specifically for the tire center. I came in after I did some serious side wall damage parallel parking my car. The entire drive over I was praying that my tire wouldn't pop. I called beforehand and they guaranteed that they had the Michelins I wanted and it was on sale. I'm not about to question a good thing. After pulling in and having the guy examine the damage and my tread wear, he told me I didn't need new tires. Apparently I have alignment issues and some cosmetic damage. Being a young female with no knowledge of vehicles I'm used to getting taken advantage of when it comes to fixing my car. I found the guys here super friendly and honest. I came willing to pay whatever it would take to change all 4 tires but instead they spent a good 30 minutes teaching me Tires 101 and reassuring me. Yes I am a spaz when it comes to my car. It's so rare to see such honesty in the auto industry. Thank you Costco tire crew! read more

Costco is the epitome of American consumerism and I love it for that! Where else would you go to buy 10lb tubs of mayo (eew) or giant stuffed tigers (dunno) under one roof?I have a Costco card because my dad gave me his 2nd card. It's a black card (Executive - $100 annually) but I don't know exactly what that means since no one has offered me Cristal or access to fancy VIP areas. I only buy 10 things from Costco if that. Sonicare toothbrush heads, olive oil, tuna, big bags of veggies, milk (cheaper than everywhere else), 5 doz packs of eggs, Omega 3-6-9, almonds, and bars of soap. All of these things cost a fraction of what they do at other, non-warehouse stores. There are bajillions of other items in quantities that I don't even understand. Their electronics department is awesome. I bought a GPS that died on me after 4 months. Any other store would have told me to contact Magellan but they gave me a full refund, no questions asked! That is pretty awesome. The employees are friendly and helpful and I've seen the same faces working there since they opened. The customers are hit or miss and most just kind of graze on samples and take their time staring/touching/eating everything in sight. I'm one of those guys that goes into a store and comes out with everything I need in under 10 mins. Weekday morning Costco is great for that. Any time after 3 and on the weekends, be prepared to spend some time in line or dodging massive families/people. read more

I go there at least every 2 weeks for basically everything. I've been a member for about 8 years now, and no matter which Costco I have ever been to in the United States the quality, prices, and staff have always been excellent. Some of the staff have a little bit of a townie touch to them, but so what, they are just as nice. My only gripe is that in Massachusetts they don't have the holy-crap-cheap booze section, but that isn't Costco's fault, it's Massachusetts' fault. I buy everything there: Socks, jackets (including a knee length Michael kors down jacket for 59 bucks!), toilet paper, meds, tumblers, pens, pillows and blankets, dog food, people food......everything is excellent in quality and price. I had even once done an experiment for a class to prove that Kirkland paper towels were just as good as any leading brand in absorbency, and superior in price haha. I could be biased as I have fond memories of Costco from when I was a kid, too. On Sunday mornings while we waited for my mom to get out of bed for brunch, my dad and I would head to Costco to snack on samples, play with toys, and moosh pillows. Yes, we are basically a family of Costco-obsessed freaks. Every time I go I always try and drag one of my friends along with me to visit my happy place. They always end up wanting memberships, too, because any fool can see what awesome stuff they have there and how much money you end up saving. On a side note, the cell phone Kiosk there is run by sleaze bags. I thought maybe it would be different since it was in Costco, but they aren't affiliated with Costco and are just as sleazy as any other kiosk stand. My mom had a bad experience with them all the way in Hawaii, too, which leads me to believe that they should just be avoided altogether no matter where you go. read more

Don't you just love Costco. I always make sure to go to Costco at least once a month to get my monthly supply. Costco offers the best prices in market, period. Just to give you an example, I bought two big bottles of Listerine for the price of $9. The one bottle that is 2/3 the size at CVS is for $8. Don't expect labels or anything to direct you to the stuff you want to buy. You have to go there several times until you get very familiar with the store. If you went on weekends you will can actually taste samples of the food sold at Costco. Lines can get pretty long at the checkout so I would recommend you use the self checkout whenever possible. Also remember that Costco doesn't provide you with plastic bags for your shopping. You have to go there prepared with your own plastic bags! That's actually annoying! Costco doesn't accept any credit card other than AMEX. So you either have to pay with your debit card or in cash. read more

I'm usually one for supporting the small businesses, so going to Costco is more than a tad unethical for me. But you know, I am broke and this place is cheap. The preservatives are pretty nasty in the baked goods and spreads (I can give names to the potato salad and artichoke dip because they have been a part of my families refrigerator for over a year without going bad), but the vegetables are good for the most part. Canned and boxed items are great too. I feel like then you have a family you gotta get a membership. I also just got new glasses and contacts here. They surprisingly have a good selection and are wicked cheap. This Costco gets one star less than the other ones because it doesn't sell alcohol. This Costco has what I expect from all Costco locations: lots of stuff on pallets for me to squeeze into my car, tons of free samples to chow on while you wander, a jaw-dropping seizure-inducing array of electronics you beg your significant other to let you purchase, and a nice cafe full of cheap, delicious food (if you have room from the 15 meatball samples you ate a half hour ago). But, let's talk about why I like this one. + It's clean. + The parking lot is huge but not crazy. + It is near other things: restaurants, shopping, etc. + It's right off the highway. + The staff members don't act like they hate their jobs. So, pretend that this isn't the only Costco in the greater Boston area and come here not just because you have to, but because it's actually a good shopping experience! read more

I won't review much of the food and typical Costco stuff as that stuff is pretty much the same throughout the country. They have a great selection of items at this location, especially the Cheese section, fresh seafood sometimes isn't as abundant as some Costco's I've been to in the midwest, which is counterintuitive for a location here in the Boston area. The "Liquor Store" section here is what's really nice about Costco. FYI- you don't have to have a Costco membership to shop at the liquor store They sell liquor, wine, and some beer. Wine selection isn't terrible as that's what most of the store consists of. Naturally then, the liquor and beer selection isn't vast but they have the basics and prices are very good compared to any liquor store around. I think the best thing they have going on are the prices of premium items. Moet Chandon and Vueve Clicquot for $34.99 and $39.99 respectively as an example. Cheapest prices I've seen around, even cheaper than the NH Liquor warehouses read more

The standard large warehouse for buying goods in bulk. Yes it's cheap, but frankly the vegetables, meat sections, and the cheese are not too tasty, and the baked goods are processed beyond recognition. Just read the muffin ingredients label. I would limit Costco shopping to things that are bottled or canned, like canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned soups, and 6-packs of Marinelli's. I am intrigued by the smoked salmon mention in AJ R.'s 10/24/2006 review... but wasn't really looking for it when I went there last. read more

This Costco gives warehouses a bad name. The shelves are constantly under-stocked and the prices are higher than they should be. There are never any employees around if you need help and the lines are always crazy long. Also, they only accept cash, Amex and check cards leaving those of us with other credit cards unwelcome. Ample parking and near a bunch of other business in a strip mall, this is basically your average Costco. I'd say the bakery selection is good but the muffins seem to go fast on the weekends. The soft beverage options were a bit disappointing. Note this location has few samples, even on weekends. This location also doesn't have a makeup or beauty section. While there is personal care stuff like moisturizer and even some Korean skincare stuff sometimes, this store doesn't stock cosmetic items you may find at other locations, e.g. mascara two packs, eyeshadow palettes, etc. read more

I normally would not Yelp a wholesale warehouse but I felt the need to mention how accommodating and helpful one of the workers at Costco's was to me. This may not seem like a big deal because it's their job but I felt this person was extremely nice and friendly. So here's the situation...went through the self check line with my items. There were many items that had discounts, some came off at the register automatically while others didn't and required scanning the bar code from the circular you receive as a member. After I finished paying for my items I realized I forgot to scan the bar code. Already feeling like an idiot I walked to the customer service desk and explained to this women what happened. Her attitude was so positive and cheerful I couldn't believe it. It was about 8:25pm right before closing time and I would have expected her to at least give a smidge of distaste, you know? I did start off by apologizing and she was like 'oh it's ok, it's fine'. To remove the discounts seemed like a long process, there were 4 items that needed correction but with a smile she checked each one off and was able to give me the cash difference. I apologized again and thanked her profusely. She responded with another 'it's ok and no problem' and said have a nice night. I always go to this Costco's anyway but I felt the need to mention the exemplary service I got from this one women. read more

I can't say why, but shopping here is so much less stressful than going to Shaws, Stoppy, Foodmaster, or almost anywhere else. The membership is a good deal. They give you 2% back on your year's worth of purchases - or $50, whichever is more. So say 2% of your purchases for fiscal year 2010 only equals $33.72, well dammnit, Jethro, they'll cut you a check for $50 anyway. That's an extra $16.38 in the bank for my example. Better than whatever paltry interest that old savings and loan is paying. You have to be careful not to fall into the wholesale club trap ( there was even a Seinfeld episode about this, where Kramer has those monster cans of Beef-A-Rino and ends up feeding it to the horse while he looks after his buddy's horsecarriage ride service while he's on vacation and the horse ends up taking award-winning monster dumps while he's riding George's fiancee's parents around New York, classic!), where you're walking down the aisle, and say "hey, 12 gallons of bleu cheese dressing! I LOVE bleu cheese dressing!" and then you end up having to give it away before it all goes bad. So just watch out for that and you're ok. Go to eat some samples too! Between here and the Whole Foods, you have Sunday lunch taken care of. read more

This place is great to develop your digital photos- pretty cheap, really quick, and they use Fuji Crystal Archival paper. Tire selection is pretty good and much cheaper than the average mechanic's down the road. I haven't actually gotten anything done with my car there, but their auto service department was friendly and helpful. As for food, the items we love are: -great desserts to bring to parties -Kirkland bacon (thick slices), lamb chops, ground meat -Cabot aged cheddar cheese, goat cheese -great buys are the mesculin mix (a big box for $4.00 that really lasts the whole week), seedless cucumbers, bananas (my parents always make me buy a bunch for them when I go there), dairy products, Kirkland bread (which is as close to Vogels as you can get in the States) and random snack items. Otherwise, stay away from the sushi (pretty obvious why) and rotisserie chicken. A lot of the items are just bulk merchandise and it doesn't really save you much, especially if you're not a big family. However I've heard that they have pretty good deals on their electronics and the consumer report claims that their Kirkland brand cookware is pretty good and that their return policy is one of the best. If you go to / host parties often, then the membership fee will pay for itself. read more

Sunday Lunch = Costco Samples and a slice of Costco Pizza This is the only place I buy soymilk anymore, $11 for 12 cartons! When berries are in season, I go nuts here! The super cold produce section never fails me to get some vitamins ala natural. If you play it smart, you won't get stuck in crowded lines, though lately we only go on Sundays, and haven't had much of a problem. The $45/yr membership is WORTH IT! Costco brings much joy to my family. Minus one star because some of the sample-sharers are really bitter and can't hide it. Lots of turnover in that department, go figure. read more

To the new england new comer such as myself, this proves to be very confusing, why do some costcos sell beer/wine and some don't -- ok so fine that's the way it goes, but really, the question is HOW IS ONE SUPPOSED TO KNOW?? that is the truly annoying part about this whole getting acclimated process, it's hard to acclimate when you come expect certain things about certain stores or places...
