    Delicious wine pairing
    Erber D.

What better day to visit Cosme than Cinco de Mayo? First off, the staff was very nice and knowledgeable, despite the hectic nature of the holiday. The ambiance was awesome, as it was dimly lit but still full of life. The margarita and wine pairings went well with the food. The scallops (a seafood favorite of mine) were DIVINE, with pieces of pineapple adding a flavor I never had on scallops before. The mole, while unspectacular and overpriced, did taste good. The star of the show is certainly the duck carnitas. The duck comes so well seasoned and cooked, that it falls apart to easily fit in a taco (and it is not chewy at all). I was also pleasantly surprised by the tasty texture of the duck skin, as I usually find skin too chewy and slimy (unless fried). There are some dishes on the menu that won't do anything to wow you, especially at their price points. But the scallops, the duck carnitas, their "stand outs" definitely do stand out for tasting AMAZINGLY. I hope to come back and try the dessert, which I have read is really good. If you want high end Mexican food that differs from your normal Mexican cravings, this is certainly the place to go (although the price point is very different than other equally as delicious taco spots around NY).

While I don't normally do work dinners, how can I say no to my CEO or Cosme. Tucked away, polarized reviews and a stacked bar is my jam so why not. Staff really makes the restaurant scene for me and I loved how complimentary they were to my questions. Portion size was a downfall but I get it. If you came to eat, the taste was worth every bite to savor. Ambiences was clean, modern, moody perfect to get lost. I loved the experience and the twist to end my night. Learned they have a sister location, Damien on the west coast. Add to your list if you aren't in NYC.

Came here for dinner on a Wednesday night. We had a reservation and were seated right away. We ordered the guacamole, uni tostada, scallop, octopus, romanesco, duck carnitas, and grilled sea bass. My favorites were the octopus and romanesco (I can't find a menu online so I don't remember the exact dish name). The flavors on every dish were very tasty and 4 of the dishes came with tortillas, so we were stuffed by the end. The server recommended about 9 dishes for the 4 of us, but we probably could have done with 5/6. Overall, the service was great and the food was delicious. It was dimly lit and very vibey. Would recommend!

Cosme was incredible, the steak was one of the best I've had in a long time, and the duck was absolute heaven. Every dish felt thoughtfully done, making it a truly memorable meal. Drinks were amazing too. I can't wait to go back!

Went there for a dinner with family Nice ambiance but very dark and very loud... We started with some shared items and enjoyed the guacamole The uni and bone marrow were great but way overpriced for a crunchy tortilla. The wine list was way over the top with mediocre wines being over $500. Definitely bring your black Amex here. The entrees were great. Strip steak. Nice and juicy. Oversalted but terrific flavor and cooked perfectly Duck. A little on the dry side and limited sauces to go with it Pork chop was excellent. However it arrived 30 minutes after the rest of the food and was not comped. I was shocked. Asked for them to take care of it and to a pleasant surprise...they took it off the bill Lots of desserts. I tried the meringue and it was good. Not excessively sweet WINE service was amazing.

I've been wanting to check this place out since I love the chef! Enrique Olvera has a restaurant called Pujol in Mexico City that I freaking love. And this is his New York City venture. However, I felt the food was just OK... The ambience was nice, very New York with a hint of Mexico City vibes. I'm glad I went for a restaurant week because it's $60 for three courses so I got to try everything. The Arctic char toast started it with everything bagel seasoning was fantastic! And the avocado cream cheese was such a nice twist. Loved sitting at the corner bar! It's a great place to people watch and chat with the great bartenders. If you're looking for a splurge for really fancy Mexican, then this is your place!

Amazing corn tortillas and dessert, average small bites, and definitely below average drinks and ordering experience. Vibey dark interior. Cosme is a Mexican cusine known for their corn tortillas and desserts. We ordered the scallops, uni tostada(s), octopus, peking duck, guacamole, margaritas, corn husk meringue, and the grape sorbet. Highly recommend the peking duck (comes with corn tortilla) and corn husk meringue- everything else can be found in similar restaurants around the neighborhood. My party ordered various margaritas and each drink genuinely tasted like watered down aqua frescas with a small pour of alcohol. The staff was NOT clear with their explaination of the menu item and my party actually ended up ordering multiple uni tostadas because the waitress didn't explicitly say that asking for additional tostada chips would just be an additional order of the dish. Just feel like that's a normal thing to clarify before running to get the order in. No one prefaced the difference and my party didn't notice until the bill came.

Tried to have a restaurant week dinner here but were disappointed to learn that only bar reservations are served the restaurant options, not dining room reservations. We stuck around for regular dinner and had a nice time regardless. It's been a few years since I'd dined here so I was curious to try the new menu offerings (and return to delicious classics). We chose several appetizers to share before the duck carnitas main arrived. I wasn't able to dissuade my party from ordering the guacamole which I remember being only average, and was slightly vindicated when it was tried and everyone agreed with my original assessment. The salsa does elevate the avocado with herbs but I stand by its skipability. The scallops with pineapple butter on the other hand, we could not get enough of. If they had served us a bowl of that pineapple butter by itself, we would've licked the container clean. The Maine uni tostada left us with a weird taste in our mouths. I thought it was just me because I don't tend to like the unctuous feeling of bone marrow but even the rest of the party who loved bone marrow didn't enjoy the strong, almost gamey flavor. The fingerling potato tamal with cheddar sauce was a unique, comforting bite. I was not as blown away by the duck carnitas as I'd hoped to be given the fun description the server provided (and high price tag), but it was enjoyable and good for sharing. The stars of the show for me were the desserts. The pecan tamal hit every high note, from the crunchy pecans to the earthy corn masa to the ice cream that added just the right amount of sugar. And, of course, the corn husk meringue is excellent, the sweet corn and milky meringue an unexpected pair--don't skip it.

One of my favorite meals l've had in a minute -- would recommend for a special occasion or celebration, and Restaurant Week was worth! The ambiance is nice, with dim lights and a lovely dining room. Every single thing was absolutely delicious, standouts include the Tlayuda, Fluke Tostada and Corn Husk Meringue... but truly you cannot go wrong with anything!

I came here with a few friends for restaurant week. We ordered the wild morel mushroom tlayuda, fluke tostada, pork belly, long island striped bass, peking duck enmoladas, affogato flan and cherry sorbet. The ambiance was dark and moody, just right for a date night or drinks with friends. The servers and staff were kind but they kept forgetting to bring our drinks that we ordered. We also asked multiple times for shareable plates but they also kept forgetting that. Part of this was because they were very busy. We liked the food. Our favourite dishes were the mushroom tlayuda, the pork belly, and the desserts. I've heard the corn husk merengue is a must have from a friend so ill definitely be back to try that.

I have been eating at Cosme since it opened and it is always good. So why did I move it from 5 to 4 stars? First and foremost there is a lot more competition in the high end Mexican space and Cosme has upped its game to meet the competition.

    Sucheta B.

Uni tostada, fluke tostada, al pastor prawns and the duck carnitas are top orders. As others have said the carnitas are delicious but definitely a pricey choice at over $100. Cosme has good food and good vibes and worth trying once for a nice occasion but be expected to pay!

Love love love the vibes here! The dining room is so beautiful and the lighting is very dark but in a good way. I was really impressed with the food and the portion sizes. I feel like sometimes with restaurants like these, it can be hard to be full, but we ordered the guac to share (so delicious) and then one entree each from the middle section of the menu and we were satisfied! I had the octopus and it was incredible -- so tender and flavourful and it also comes with corn tortillas on the side. But of course we couldn't stop there and we had to have dessert also -- we ordered the chocolate guava cake. One thing that I thought could be better -- we asked for more tostadas for our guac and then it wasn't until we got the bill that we realised extra tostadas came at a charge. Wish they told us that before we ordered them. Plus they only give like 4.

Does anyone know the price for the prefix menu?

When I was there wasn't a prefix menu. You could choose between different smaller dishes and they recommend 4 - 6 for 2 people which lands between 150 - 250 USD.

Can we just order a takeout of Cornhusk Meringue?

No it's Mexican. Sorry, bad joke. The menu does not claim halal or kosher.

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way.
