Always a pleasure to eat here. I've only been here for breakfast. I only intend to eat breakfast here as everything else here just seems like it would be just okay and I like to be impressed by lunch/dinner food. Service is always fantastic here and the place is always clean. Everyone here is having a great time and enjoying themselves. They serve the almost the entire entire menu all day everyday so there is something for everyone everyday. The servers do seem to have maybe 1 to many tables making is a bit hard to keep a watchful eye on all the tables but they make such little money anyhow I won't complain much about that because they all work very hard for what money they make. Solid breakfast with outstanding service. Biscuits and gravy were really good but gravy was a little on the cold side. Tried the meat lovers omelet which the meats and eggs were great, not a fan of the American cheese slices on top. Hash-browns were solid as well as the sourdough toast. The Corner Cafe is a down home country style restaurant great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We primarily go for the breakfast or dinner though. And of course, the occasional to go box of pie! The portions are typically filling. And by filling, I really mean huge. My son loves the fried catfish dinner, the hubs eats the french toast breakfast, other kiddos like big salads or homemade chicken and dumplings and I will alternate between noodles and beef tips (Tuesday only), the roast beef dinner (available every day) or a big ol' piece of creme pie! I can't eat like this all the time (and neither should you probably) but it's a real treat to have a big piece of fried anything, with a side of dreamy mashed potatoes smothered in cream gravy, with a side of overcooked and deliciously seasoned veggies--and by veggies I mean cooked green beans, swimming in onion bits and bacon. Yeah, veggies. We never leave this place without a bag of to go pie slices. It's a tradition! The usual suspects are coconut creme, banana creme, chocolate creme and sometimes when in season...strawberry! Perhaps, it was that my expectations had been so built up, but I was a bit disappointed in my experience at Corner Cafe. I would return, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. First the positives... I loved the decor of the restaurant. There was a sign that read "Sit Long, Talk Much" and the feel of the restaurant encouraged just that. It was almost like you were sitting in a farmhouse surrounded by eclectic signage. The dessert was wonderful! I had the banana split pie, which is something I have never seen anywhere else. It was packed with flavor, but it didn't have a heavy feeling. My husband had the sticky bun, which looked great and was huge. The food was so-so. I ordered the turkey with stuffing, green beans and mashed potatoes. I agree with the reviews that say the food tasted boxed, rather than homemade. The mashed potatoes tasted like boxed potatoes, the cranberry sauce seemed to have come out of a can and the stuffing was bland. As a Kansas City native, I inherently enjoy Corner Cafe. It's your classic comfort food cafe. Is the food exceptional? No, I wouldn't go that far, but you'll have a nice breakfast. The pancakes are quite good - not too thick and very fluffy, just the way I like 'em. During my most recent visit I decided to try something new, the Biscuit Topper, which consists of a biscuit with egg and gravy on top, with a sausage patty on the side. It's probably something I wouldn't order again as I'm realizing that I need my breakfast to be sweet and savory. Try the cinnamon rolls, peach cobbler, or pancakes, and you won't be disappointed. read more

Came in an hour before close, we were directed to sit at the counter, the server immediately seemed to be put out that she had to serve us. Mumbled a @$&$ under her breath and tossed two menus on the counter. Made a comment to another customer that she "almost made it." Then she returned an asked "what do you want to drink?" and then walked away while my husband was still talking...didn't even get my drink order. Came back with a "do you know what you want?" Our reply was that "we'd need a minute" more because of the disbelief at what had just occurred. We decided it would be better to leave than to give her any further discomfort. read more

My favorite place when I'm in Liberty Mo. There are two locations. I can eat breakfast lunch and dinner here. Everything is so good. Home made food. We go in large groups and have no problem getting seated. Cinnamon rolls and sticky buns that fit on a plate. They are a bit of heaven. So many choices. Been our favorite family breakfast diner forever (well almost forever). Riverside is our favorite and closest of the locations. Avoid busiest times and the waits are minimal if any. Even waiting during peak times goes by fairly quickly. Food is always great especially their omelette variety which is my favorite. Their biscuits and gravy come in three sizes for those who want a just little or a lot for those who aren't eating again for a week! First let me say my Family & I have never been disappointed with Corner Cafe. The only one we have ever patronized is the one in Riverside as we live in Leavenworth, Kansas. We came there July 14, 2022, as it was my birthday and that's where we elected to go, what a disappointment. We have literally been there and had to wait for an hour to get seated which we didn't mind at all, but this time we got seated about 20 minutes after we got there (which wasn't an issue) got took to the back room, at the table by the stop light and had to wait at least another 15 minutes or so for our drinks (which o.k.). We were a party of 8(which use to be 9) and after we ordered it took over an hour to receive our food (which was an issue) and when we did receive it , everything was cold. From the roast beef to the BLT, to the chicken fried steak, etc... everything. We all were so hungry we didn't even complain and we just told the waitress everything was o.k. My other comment is that the room we were in wasn't even packed (and I've been there before when every table was occupied) and we even heard the table by us talking amongst themselves about the wait for their food. So, $156.00 later plus the tip ($20.00) we walked away disappointed and expressing to one another how we would probably not return to the one in Riverside, maybe give the one in Liberty a try. I just needed to let you know because it has really bothered me. I realize places are understaffed, prices of food have skyrocketed and that has to be passed on to the customers, but don't forget the customers are what makes your businesses stay afloat and word of mouth is everything. In fact when I moved here there was one specific place I was trying to going something comparable to and every single human I spoke to declared with fervor that Corner Cafe would blow my mind and teach my taste buds to love again! I now refuse to associate with those people. Corner Cafe is what city people image home-style cooking tasting like from watching too much TV. After eating there 5 times I feel like I can safely say, it's really just not good at all. More butter, more lard, more bacon grease, more black pepper, more stove-top pan frying, and more flavor. I've been here twice, plus stopped in since just to get the pies/cinnamon roll for take home. It's a perfect combo of casual, home style , well made comfort food -the full spectrum- and actually very kind, efficient service. Even though they always seem busy and have a lot going on, the staff seem very cooperative with each other and thoughtful. Food was great, but the rudest waitress at the bar I've ever encountered! We sat down, no greeting, walking away she asked what we wanted to drink, came back with utensils, not a word of greeting. Absolutely nothing as she brought our food to us & THE ONLY time she had something to say was as she gave us the ticket & said, "thank you for coming in. " I guess she decided she needed a tip. Very disappointed, I usually LOVE this place. We (4 of us) ordered and finally got our food 50+ minutes later. Everything we ordered should of been ready to go. 2 of my friends ordered the daily special, super burrito (maybe not the correct menu name) they received a bean burrito that was more than likely out of the freezer. The description did not say only beans and this restaurant is known for it's home type food so an out of the freezer burrito was a shock. The veggie plate was minimal to say the least, for $11.00 you would think the small serving dishes would at lease be over half full. We are regulars and we love to come in on Wednesday's. Susan is a great manager and makes that place run. When she isn't working there's a marked difference in atmosphere and service. Every once in a while we come in on Thurs-Sat in order to be waited on by Debbie Tyler. She knows what we drink and always makes sure to bring an extra glass of ice for tea! Corner cafe will always have a special place in my heart. I've been going there since I was 6 years old and it remains to be one of my favorite places to get food. They easily handle large parties as well. Today I came in and asked for a table for 14 and they got us a table with no problem. The waitstaff was very polite to us even though we had a lot of teenagers with us. My favorite memory of the corner cafe was when I went with my dad a few days after my grandfather had passed. It was one of his favorite restaurants and we used to go there with him all the time. The atmosphere is so homelike it's almost impossible to feel sad. Based on the reviews, I bet this place makes a fantastic breakfast. However, I went for lunch, and while the experience was fine I wouldn't say it was 5-star-worthy. The decor of this place is homey and absolutely adorable. They provide coloring pages and crayons for the kids (and they got a free cookie afterwards!) which is a definite plus in my book. While our server was very pleasant and accommodating, service could have been just a tad speedier. I ordered the croissant club, and it would have been fine except they forgot to add the bacon, cheese, and mayo. I decided maybe it was the Fates keeping me on track with my diet!!! It took a while for our server to come back around but when she did she got me some bacon out right away. The sandwich (with bacon but without cheese and mayo, because I forgot to ask for those) was just okay. The croissant was great, but the whole thing just lacked flavor overall. And my onion rings were skinny and dry, so I only ate a couple before leaving the rest on my plate. I think I need to try this place for breakfast, instead. read more

We ordered their fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, a dozen dinner rolls, and a whole coconut cream pie for take out. When we arrived to get our order we were handed a bag, told our order was complete, and the bill. After paying my wife asked where the pie was. The attendent apologized and boxed up the pie. Next we noticed the rolls were not in the bag. Once again we got an apology and after waiting another 10 minutes were told they were sold out. We had just seen them take an entire try out of the oven and carry it out. When we pointed that out, we were told those were for in house customer use. We got (1) roll. Once we got home we found the mashed potatoes had depressions where the gravy should have been but no gravy. Nope, won't be going back here anytime soon for carry-out. read more

One of the best tasting breakfast meals I've ever had! The Artichoke and Spinach Dip Omelet - YUM! This is one way to eat your veggies. The dip is blended with extra artichokes and spinach and fresh tomatoes and swiss cheese. The flavors are delicious. They were out of their famous biscuits that day so I didn't get to try them. But all those pies in the case sure did look amazing and I had to remember the bikini in my suitcase to keep myself away from them. The "Smoking and Non-Smoking" sections caught me off guard. The place looks like an old West saloon with it's character, charm, wooden porch, antique decor. The wait staff is friendly and fast. My family had brunch here to celebrate my son's birthday. We've always enjoyed the food but the service is lacking almost every time we visit. We had an incident at our most recent visit that left me and my family flabbergasted. After we were seated, a girl came over and said she wasn't our server but she was helping out our server. We gave her our drink orders and she came back promptly with the drinks and immediately spilled a large glass of Sprite all over my daughter and our table. She was embarrassed and apologetic and got us some napkins so we could clean up HER mess. We were confused but my daughter was wet and sticky and it was my son's birthday so we got to cleaning instead of complaining. We had to ask multiple people for more napkins because their napkins aren't meant to clean up spilled large drinks. Finally, our server came over and handed us some paper towels. Again, NO ONE on the staff offered to help us. When my daughter got back from the bathroom after trying to get the sticky off (unsuccessfully), my husband notice that there was a "Sprite lake" under our table and asked if we could just move to the table next to ours which had just opened up. We were told yes and then we moved all our own stuff including my frail mother's drinks, menus, etc. to the next table. Our server waited on us afterwards and our food came pretty quickly, was hot and accurate so we ate. We didn't see her again until she brought us our check. We were all sucking on ice because we couldn't get anyone's attention for drink refills. I think she didn't want to be associated with the mess and we had to remind ourselves that we didn't spill the drink but were treated like we did. We got our check and thought that you guys would at least comp the Sprite but nope....we weren't even offered dessert to buy which is my mom's favorite part of your restaurant and with our server's crummy attitude, we were too scared to ask. I've had her before as a server and I don't enjoy my visits when she waits on me. I think it's time to review the protocol to your servers of what to do when they douse a customer in drinks. BEWARE! 6 of us went here for dinner last night. Our 5 minute wait for a table turned into 20-no biggie. We were seated and waited another 15 minutes to order drinks-only because we asked a different server for help. After we finally ordered, it took 45 minutes to have our food served-and only because we asked a different server for help. I might be sympathetic with some of this but, they weren't busy and there were plenty of employees aimlessly wandering around. Being there last night was like starring in an episode of The Walking Dead. Old, rotted and discarded food stuck to empty tables. Servers aimlessly walking around. Hardly anyone there. It was an absolute mess. Countless plates of food sat in the warming window only to be discarded. We watched several orders being re-made while wait staff stood and watched. I counted 7 servers at one time leaning on the counter just staring into the kitchen! How about bussing a table? What about a refill? Hello? Never once did our server refill our drinks, or get a manager involved or try and comp our bill. One person in our party became tired of waiting. He got up and walked to the cashier and tried to pay for his iced tea. He finally had to interrupt the 2 girls behind the counter who were playing on their phones. They asked how everything was and he said "it sucks" and they said "yeah, we do suck!" Seriously! I'm not sure how this place stays open or why it's popular?
