The decor is like your Grandad's barn (or mine at least), chock full of old signs and interesting junk that was picked up and stuck to the way to create a thousand points of interest. We went for breakfast and there was a wait. Don't walk away, the front staff was clearly used to a crowd and managed the seating quickly and efficient. Seated at a table, the staff was quick and courteous, leaving us time, but checking in regularly - after we ordered, she also was kind enough to give up a couple of updates. The menu is extensive, so it took us a minute to drill down to what we desired, but when I saw it, I knew what I wanted. So, the Chicken Fried Steak, the CFS, the thing, the hand breaded, smothered in gravy, served with two fresh eggs and hash browns (or grits) deliciousness. The steak was generous, thick and well breaded. The breading had a nice peppery flavor that was complimented by the white milk gravy. The steak was a pounded cubed steak that offered good beef flavor and chew while not being processed or fatty. Eggs, to order were perfectly cooks as were the hash browns. i have been going there for years and we had a new server who must not know the menu and when she brought out the wrong thing she told me i was wrong and argued about it. when she brought the correct order, it was still not right. i took it to the kitchen and told them forget it. the manager came out she had an attitude that the customer was beingh unreasonable and wanted to know how to make it better, again this was done with an attitude. i told them there was nothing. and they still charged me for the coffee. if possible, i would give negative stars. read more

Typically we come here and it's wonderful. Amazing enough I would drive 2 hours to come here like I did today. The only reason for my 3 stars today. Because we moved out of the area drove up here to enjoy family favorite as a party of 6. Waitress Trisha came to grab our drinks and as everyone else is ordering I'm tending to a child, I turn around to face her as it's my turn to order and say "I'd take a Dr Pepper" she says they don't carry that but they have coke products, I say "okay I'll take a Mr Pibb." They have daily specials so go any day and you can enjoy the selection. Save room for pie. They make it fresh and you can get them to go. They have cream and fruit pie selections. For what it is, Corner Cafe is a pretty good place. But what it is just isn't for me. Imagine Cracker Barrel without the kitschy "country store," and you've pretty much got Corner Cafe. They specialize in two things: hearty, no frills traditional breakfasts and old people. Seriously, during my visit it was a packed dining room, and I was the youngest person there by 40 years. But you know what? The food was good, so I don't care. I ordered what they call the Gringo omelet, which is a very strange name, seeing as it's key ingredient was chorizo, which I wouldn't exactly call whitey's staple protein. Served with a size of hash-browns and two pieces of toast, this was an incredibly hearty and tasty breakfast. I would definitely order it again, when I feel like binging at 7:00 AM. They have a "lighter side" section of the menu, which featured things like "two eggs and hash browns," which doesn't exactly seem to ME like the definition of "eating light" but whatevs. One knocking point. This place serves TERRIBLE coffee. Like the worst I've ever had. I had to doctor it up with a ridiculous amount of cream and sugar. What's worse, every time I took like 2 sips, the waitress would refill. A for effort, but it kept messing with my proportions of coffee to cream/sugar. And while it was annoying with the coffee, beyond that the service was fantastic. The servers that work here are friendly and no-nonsense. Food comes out right and it comes out fast. They're quick to get you your check and then to run your card. I was happy with our interactions. Overall this place is fine, but I won't be rushing back. But if you're looking for a GIANT breakfast that's affordable to boot, check out Corner Cafe. One last thing. This place has stupid good cinnamon rolls. Screw your diet. Eat one! read more

I did order a roll to keep me busy while we waited and it was actually quite good with its homemade taste. That's about all that tasted homemade though. We followed the ever so filling breakfast (Lots of bread! Even the biscuits and gravy came with toast!) with more carbs. Ordered the cinnamon roll and sticky bun. The sticky bun was the better of the two. We put our name on the wait list at 10:15am on a Saturday. This was a little worrisome because the line was long and biscuits and gravy stop at 11am (though I don't think it's that strict, as we observed plenty of it coming out around 11:30). We were seated by 10:30 and all was well. The smoking section didn't affect our non smoking section and I was relieved by that. You will leave smelling heavily of grease. I once used to visit this location when skipping school to grab a big affordable breakfast but now I find myself taking new friends and family there just because of it's awesome food and atmosphere. On my most recent visit I was nervous to drive out on a Sunday morning due to the rumors that The Corner Cafe can be super crowded but was pleasantly surprised to get a seat right away. A little taken back by the "smoking or non", we walked our way to a very open seating room and was greeted right away by a bubbly waitress. Within 10 minutes we had our piping hot food and the entire spread in front of us! My partner got a huge Cinnamon Roll, coffee and a large breakfast combo. The eggs were ideal, the biscuits were fluffy and buttery and the Cinnamon Roll was so huge we took most of it home to munch on later; all of it was awesome. I ordered the Hot Chocolate (which was divine) and their famous biscuits and gravy. The gravy is creamy with large chunks of sausage and it is perfect over the buttery biscuits; not to mention the spread is huge! Our friends suggested this place since it was convenient for us on the way home and not too traffic congested for our daughter who was driving separately. They said the cinnamon rolls were very good. Corner Cafe sat us at the worst possible location, at a high traffic intersection where both the sling for the car seat and the high chair were in everyone's way. The Corner Cafe had a huge menu and it took me forever to decide on what to order. It came down to the country fried steak or the hand breaded catfish. I choose the catfish and it was breaded lightly with cornmeal and tasted amazing. With this catfish dinner you were allowed to choose 2 sides. I settled on the hand breaded onion rings and coleslaw.
