    Sticky Bun

The food is alright. The price is decent but you get what you pay for. They serve all 3 meals and all day breakfast. The sticky bun rocked! Wait staff was a little slow and didn't try and up sale. Didn't offer drink refills either. The restaurant is pretty large with several tables and rooms on the side as well. If they are packed I'm sure you'll be waiting awhile. All that aside it's a try it for yourself. You'll either love it or just be ok with it.

Breakfast at its Best! Since they don't accept reservations, there might be a wait during mid-morning and on weekends. The restaurant has a classic charm, hasn't had or needed an update. The menu prices are low, an incredible value with all food prepared from scratch. If you're lucky enough to have Sue as your server, you're in for a treat - she's efficient, friendly, and truly awesome. I always start with coffee and a delicious cinnamon roll, which I cut up for everyone to share. If you enjoy biscuits, make sure to order them before 1 PM or before they sell out! The French Toast combo is my fave, comes with an egg and bacon. They have a full breakfast and lunch menu available all day, and dinner options start after 10:30 AM. Honestly, with such delicious cinnamon rolls, bacon, and breakfast options, I doubt I'll ever get around to ordering from the dinner menu. There's plenty of parking available, with entrances from the east side of NW Gateway Avenue or the south side of 69 HWY/Vivion RD.

Wow Corner Cafe didn't disappoint! We drove 30mins to get here for a great classic diner breakfast. They stop serving biscuits & gravy at 11am and a couple other items but the other breakfast items are available all day. They don't take reservations our party of 5 was told 25 mins but it was only 15mins. They broke up the space into many different areas and even have a stool counter too. Great service from Larissa our waitress and the other staff members. We brought home mini cinnamon rolls container which are regular size since one cinnamon roll is the size of a plate! I recommend you check them out!

Chocolate sprinkles on cinnamon roll, granddaughter loved it.

We waited about 5 minutes to be seated, we had a party of 3 adults and one child. Food was good and hot, waitress was on her game, I wish I could remember her name, she made our granddaughter smile and happy with the chocolate sprinkles with her large cinnamon roll. Nice decorations on the inside.

As this place doesn't accept reservations (to my knowledge), we walked in during prime brunch time on Sunday and hoped for the best. While there were no tables available, the first come first served counter was wide open! This place is run extremely well. The restaurant was bustling but didn't feel chaotic. There were tons of servers and food runners. The woman serving us behind the counter was an angel. She was so sweet! The menu has great options. I wouldn't say the food is anything incredibly special - just classic breakfast food that is well made! My partner and I split the French toast and the Corner Omelet with hashbrowns and a biscuit. The French toast was pretty standard. Omelet was great! Super cheesy with fluffy eggs. Hashbrowns were a bit bland.

And then there is a café they call The Corner. So many good meals with so many good friends over the years! It was 41 years ago that I woke up in a motel room on a hill in Riverside Missouri, got up and went to a brand new job. I started work at executive Beechcraft that morning at the MKC Downtown Municipal Airport. And since Kansas City was completely new to me, I had no idea where anything was. I found a Burger King in North Kansas City, so I ate a few meals there and on Friday I asked some of my fellow employees that I have just met where is a good place to eat? They told me to go to The Corner Café in Riverside. Little did I know at the time, had I just driven down the hill I would have found The Corner on the first day! With a fresh set of instructions written down I drive into Riverside and pulled up to a building that said The Corner Café. When I looked at that building, I almost did not get out of my car to go in and eat. It looked as if it was ready to fall down. But I did go in and I did eat and as I recall the first meal I ate there was meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a soft drink. Now people will tell you that the corner is best known for its biscuits and gravy breakfast. And those same people will tell you that there biscuits and gravy dishes are as good as it gets anywhere in this town. I could not agree more but I take exception to it! You see there is a comfort dish that they serve for breakfast that is second to none anywhere in the world according to my taste buds. It's called the meat lovers omelette. You see they take some ham, sausage, bacon, and American cheese cook all that with three eggs, and they place that omelette on an oval platter next to a big side of hash browns. Now when you place your order, if you want sausage gravy on the browns, need to specify that. You will not find a better tasting breakfast anywhere than this omelette and those smothered hash browns, and the coffee and biscuit are great too! So, for the last 41 years I've made a lot of trips to the Corner Café both in Riverside and in Liberty. Mostly Riverside for breakfast. So, the picture of the food that I've included today was taken at the Liberty location. The two other pictures that I have posted, I found on the web, are from that original building that I was so afraid to go into. I do remember that window! A great big thank you to the Corner Café for being my go-to place for oh so many times over these last 41 years. A very well done to The Corner Café! Well done indeed. Stuffing my face with a breakfast that would make my cardiologist go into cardiac arrest! #supportlocal #supportthenorthland

Lost a big star for their disorganized team at the hostess stand. Gave name and waited 30 minutes. After seeing many people I recognized well after my arrival it seems they marked me as served. Glad I asked and encourage readers to monitor this weak link in their process. Food was served accurately and was tasty. I'd consider returning next visit to the area. Italian sausage and eggs were good and low on the spicy side.

Sometimes, I want to go to the bakery for some excellent baked goods. Other times I want to go to a nice diner and have a burger at the counter. Sometimes I even want to just have a good old sit down meal with friends and family. Believe it or not, ,whatever your mood, this place has you. If you just want one of their famous cinnamon rolls, there is a bakery counter right as you walk in. You can get any of their delicious bakery items and stay or take it to go. The dining room has a country grandma's house vibe with wooden tables and chairs and pictures of past staff and patrons all over. My favorite place though is all the way in the back. The diner counter. This is where the magic happens. the kitchen can be seen from the counter seats and people sitting and enjoying conversation with the staff and friends. The menu isn't overburdened like some restaurants in Corner Cafe's realm. It has great classics and a few surprises and all at very reasonable prices. This trip I opted for the Four Piece fried Chicken Dinner which comes with two sides. I chose Onion rings and, what else, Mac & Cheese. Since the chicken dinner takes a little longer to prepare, we enjoyed their huge dinner rolls (Top Tip - If you take some chicken home with you, also get a roll and use it to make a sandwich with the chicken. SOOOO good). My dinner actually came out quicky. The onion rings were light, crispy, and excellent. They were even better dipped in their house ranch dressing. The Mac & Cheese was like my gran made. not super creamy, but baked and cheesy. Then there is the chicken. Fried to golden perfection. Juicy and crispy. My only complaint is it could have used more pepper, but it still did not take away from the excellent quality (Author's Note - I am the guy who usually loves spicy chicken so the pepper may be an unfair request, you decide). Now the flip side to the pepper is the chicken was not over salty like most places which to me is a huge plus. Another great thing is staff are very attentive to their guests and our iced teas were always refreshed when our glasses got to half way, They even gave us to go cups for the rest we didn't finish and did so without us asking. The chicken was so good that I am now anxious to go back and really try more of the offerings they had on the menu which ranged from burgers to steaks, catfish, pot roast, etc. Go, Enjoy, be stuffed.

It was quite busy when we stopped in nevertheless the staff was very friendly and happy to let us sample flavors before ordering, which I appreciated. The one thing that really stood out was the price ... and not in a good way. We paid $16 for two scoops of ice cream, which felt pretty outrageous for what we got. I truly enjoy supporting local businesses, and I understand that rising costs and high rent can play a role, but it still didn't feel worth it. I didn't rate them too low based on that because they're doing a great job! If you're going for the atmosphere and experience, it could be a fun stop. But if you're thinking about value for money, it may come across as a bit underwhelming.

However, the main thing that caught my immediate interest was their sugarfree/keto ice cream (they have one flavor a month) because I'm a diabetic and always on the lookout for sweets with no sugar, and Alice Coopers is honestly one of the very few places in the metro that offers it. Also, my husband is a hardcore rock music lover and so am I (because of him haha), so just hearing the name of the shop already had us excited. It's obviously named after the famous hard rock singer, and the minute we walked in few days back, we loved the whole hard rock band theme around the shop. They have themed Sundaes like Slipknot Sundae, Metallica Sundae and many of the ice cream flavors are named after famous songs. That was a total win for both of us. We instantly became huge fans and will definitely come back to Alice Coopers for our ice cream cravingssss going forward. During this first visit of ours we tried their keto icecream. The flavor of the month was called 'Pecan Sticky Bun' and I got mine with a low-sugar ice cream cone and my husband got the same flavor but as a shake, topped with cream and a cherry. Heyyyy, what else do you need in lifeeee? I was genuinely so happy that I could enjoy ice cream guilt free for once. The shop itself was very cute and decorated with Christmas items. There was an electric fireplace and a small seating area next to a graffiti wall. The ice creams were neatly displayed and the shop overall was very clean and well maintained. The service was good too, and the prices were reasonable. One scoop in a low sugar cone along with a regular size shake came to around $13+. The shop is located inside the beautiful Briarcliff Mall, and the surrounding area is lovely with so many great shops. Grabbing an ice cream here and taking a stroll around the mall afterward honestly feels like the perfect way to end an evening.

I was looking at their non-coffee options and saw they had a local kombucha on tap, perfect to help with my overstuffed belly. On top of that I did buy a bag of beans; just because I don't drink coffee meant that I didn't have people that enjoy it. More importantly, the kombucha was pretty good and it was nice to sit and relax a little in a pretty cool space. Now, I also must say that I don't come at the "normal coffee time" but, I have been in the mid-morning and early afternoon and there's never a line. Besides the fabulous people who make the coffees (most of who are teenagers but, that doesn't matter to me when the drinks are executed well and when the attitudes of employees are so optimistic) the coffee itself is creative and tasty. I love the special flavors Scooters pumps out and the fun collaborations they do. I've tried drinks from the Candy Land collection as well as a Lucky Charms latte and most recently a Little Debbie Oatmeal Pie latte, all were delicious. But, if you're not a fan of sweet coffee then I wouldn't recommend some of their special flavors. However, they have a variety of sugar free options. For fall, the oatmeal pie latte was a perfect cozy drink that evoked a childhood memory of a lunchbox favorite and came topped with a teeny tiny mini chewy oatmeal cookie (how freaking cute is that?). The Grandma Nut Latte, from the candy land collab was flavorful and the nutty toasty flavor paired well with the coffee. The Lucky Charms latte was a flavor explosion of marshmallow sugary goodness and definitely reminded me of a bowl of cereal milk swirled with coffee, of course it was topped with a sprinkling of the magically delicious cereal itself. Also, the pumpkin pie cheesecake bites were divine, very sweet but the coldness of the inside paired with the thick layer of the outer white chocolate shell played on two textures, creamy and soft with crunchy. It was quite a nice experience. Other than that fall treat I haven't tried any more food from Scooters but, I'm definitely game to try some of their savory options the next time I'm grabbing a drink.
