Very sadly, after years of eating here, I had my last breakfast here with a friend a few days ago. As always, excellent service and good food. But, something absolutely devastating happened with this place. The prices have become absolutely unacceptable and extremely, obscenely expensive. 2 people. $50 for breakfast. Yes, you heard me correctly, $50 for breakfast. This will be for any couple and any combination of meals. Look at the menu that I provided pictures of to see this for yourself. Prices are around $21 - $22 now with tax for breakfast meals. Drink + tip and you're at $50 easily for 2 meals, 2 drinks tip. Cinnamon rolls on the way out? Add another $10. We were complaining about the crazy prices and were debating on if we should leave or not, but decided to stay and have one last meal here. We heard another table complaining about prices. We asked our server, a very nice woman about the prices and she shared a few stories of people telling her they would never return as well. One couple had been customers for 27 years and they also told the server it was their last ever visit. Good service, good food but, financially prohibitive and irresponsible. $50+ for any combination of meals here for breakfast, lunch or dinner, factoring in 2 drinks + tip. Just can't do it and I suspect this place has crossed the apex at which, they will now be losing customers slowly and not gaining new ones. Who can afford $50 for breakfast. Family of 4? $100+ easy. 6 to 8 people? $200+ easy. Absolutely disgusting to consider. Good bye Corner Cafe and thank you for all the good meals over the years. But, when one door closes, others open. We are on a search for a new more affordable restaurant to eat ate in this area. 5 Stars for service, 4 for food, 1 star for obscene pricing. Sorry, breakfast or lunch should never ... ever ... cost $50 dollars for 2 people. I would also ask that no one from Corner Cafe respond to my review. I am just not interested in any excuses. If you want to respond, I very strongly suggest you reply by lowering prices. I would also suggest a meeting with your servers as I talked to two server and even they themselves complained about the pricing. read more

We were quickly seated during a weekday lunch. I ordered the waffle special with a sausage patty and an over easy egg. You can't go wrong with breakfast for lunch! The Belgian waffle was delicious and not overly sweet. The syrup helped to add a touch of sweet. Then there was the chicken fried steak with the onion rings and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries and onion rings were great. Crispy and not oily. The chicken fried steak was quickly cooked and was soggy. Not a favorite of ours. Breakfast is a must and a banana split pie is a definite must! read more

We sat there waiting to be helped for a while. When she got to us they where out of what we both where going to order. When she finally came back to see our new order, we had waited even longer. My order blt was good, the tenderloin was dry but edible. Waited even longer to order dessert (love their pies). Only reason we still go their. Had to ask someone to let her know we had been waiting on our check and still took a while. This place use to be one of my favorite places to go, but they have raised prices so much for breakfast you will end up walking out paying almost $20 for an omelet and a drink with tip. To me that is absurd for a 3 egg omelet and a drink. If you are interested in keeping people coming I suggest lowering prices and quit paying so many people to wait tables or stand around. Saw 3 wait people in our little area where we were sitting just to help out around 5-6 tables. I also saw staff standing around not doing anything. You have to enjoy consistancy. Cold food, disappearing staff, wondering what you have to do to get something to drink or even silverware. I could see our order in the window and when Cayla was called on it the tossed it in the microwave. Then it became oh look it is fresh out of the kitchen. Love this place. Such a family oriented feel. They were busy but efficient on getting people in and out. I had the chicken fried chicken with fries and Mac and cheese. My friend had the BLT sandwich. My chicken was moist juicy and tasty. Mac and cheese was homemade to perfection. The BLT is reported to be top of the line and plenty fulfilling. stopped by at 8am this morning to get a couple cinnamon rolls to go. A gentleman who was seating people said he could help me. He was boxing up two rolls when another lady comes up and tells him he can't sell one of the cinnamon rolls as it had not set long enough after baking. He handed me the other roll told me to go back to the bar and pay so I headed that way. the same lady was standing there and asked me if the guy up front had given me the roll I said yes and she says "well you can't have it because it belongs to him" as she points to some customer standing there. I'm not sure how the roll in my hand became someone else's...so this place is a cluster and the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. I left empty handed. A busy place but we were seated quickly and i know many restaurants are having trouble finding enough cook staff, our food came out quickly. I splurged and took a months worth of "cheats" to try the cinnamon bun and was not disappointed. I'll stop by just for the baked goods and cinnamon buns next time i come through town. Stopped in the Corner Cafe for lunch at approx. 1:30 and sat at the bar stool counter and ordered a chicken fried steak, waitress was very friendly and took my order and she kept checking on me. I had to leave at around 1:50 because it was taking longer than usual to receive my food order and i had an appointment soon. I saw and heard my waitress checked on my order at least three times and they would say it's on the grill. I wish my food would of came because i left hungry. This place never disappoints. The chicken is always well cooked, the gravy makes you miss your grandma, and the dessert - oh man, I've never had a bad one yet. The Platte County Pie is the best of them all though. Only served on Wednesdays, this pie is basically the love child of a pecan pie and a chocolate chip cookie. I wish there was a Corner Cafe closer to us, but we will make the drive! There is never much of a wait unless it is a holiday, but once you are seated, the food and servIce is always fast and food cooked properly. Corner Café was a very pleasant surprise to me. I didn't know the place existed until my daughter came in town; we stopped in for breakfast. There was a wait and have been told there is always a wait but don't let the people standing around the doo scare you away. The wait isn't long at all. This is a wonderfully charming country cafe - ripe with traditional breakfast fare, lively staff, and a motorcycle. A diner filled with patrons is always a good sign, and this place is consistently packed - but the food misses the mark by a pinch. Though their food is well cooked, and the service is prompt, the seasoning of multiple items seem woefully underserved. I had corned-beef hash, poached eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit. Oh the biscuits! Exceptionally flaky, buttery, cloudy and rich. A spectacular biscuit worth twice as much, and that's where the hyperbole concludes. The corned-beef hash was strange, and like any low-grade hash I've had. The poached eggs were perfectly poached, but without seasonings - which isn't exactly a problem, though it would have been nice. The hash browns again were perfectly fried, but needed salt. Entirely averse to salt, their food misses the high notes of flavor. The cinnamon roll is very large, though I wouldn't exactly call it huge. It tastes as though any cinnamon roll does, and it's covered in a very warm, liquid-type icing that pools underneath this thing. It's good, but if you get an edge piece, you may get some dry edges you might not enjoy. All in all, I don't think I would return. The food is of fine quality and well made, and the prices are extremely fair, but their lack of seasoning ability is entirely incongruous with wait times and distance traveled overall. The pies looked masterful, but I wouldn't be able to back that up with data. If you're close enough, try it and you may like it. The biscuits alone are worth the trip! read more

I call it Cracker Barrel with better food. The only miss so far is that they use instant potatoes. Why make so much of your menu from scratch and then skimp on the potatoes? Don't miss the pies. I liked it, my husband LOVED IT. We went a little after 8am on a Saturday morning and the parking lot was already packed, we were seated quickly though with no wait. The husband got an extra crispy corned beef hash, which he raved about. It looked pretty good to me in all fairness. Typically we come here and it's wonderful. Amazing enough I would drive 2 hours to come here like I did today. The only reason for my 3 stars today. Because we moved out of the area drove up here to enjoy family favorite as a party of 6. Waitress Trisha came to grab our drinks and as everyone else is ordering I'm tending to a child, I turn around to face her as it's my turn to order and say "I'd take a Dr Pepper" she says they don't carry that but they have coke products, I say "okay I'll take a Mr Pibb." Trisha with an attitude says "we don't have that." I said "Okay, what do you have?" Trisha with more attitude repeats herself and says "we carry coke products". Keeping calm I said "okay, without the attitude, what does coke carry?" She stumbles back in her words to say "I didn't realize I had attitude" I let a manger know and we left. Down home country goodness! A place you wouldn't be surprised to run into Jethro or Elle May, but you might not be expecting the scratch food they are putting out. The decor is like your Grandad's barn (or mine at least), chock full of old signs and interesting junk that was picked up and stuck to the way to create a thousand points of interest. We went for breakfast and there was a wait. Don't walk away, the front staff was clearly used to a crowd and managed the seating quickly and efficient. Seated at a table, the staff was quick and courteous, leaving us time, but checking in regularly - after we ordered, she also was kind enough to give up a couple of updates. The menu is extensive, so it took us a minute to drill down to what we desired, but when I saw it, I knew what I wanted. So, the Chicken Fried Steak, the CFS, the thing, the hand breaded, smothered in gravy, served with two fresh eggs and hash browns (or grits) deliciousness. The steak was generous, thick and well breaded. The breading had a nice peppery flavor that was complimented by the white milk gravy. The steak was a pounded cubed steak that offered good beef flavor and chew while not being processed or fatty. Eggs, to order were perfectly cooks as were the hash browns. If you are looking for breakfast alone, with a friend or with the family, this place is highly recommended! read more

This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. We went this evening and waited almost an hour to get our food and only half of it came out. The server said another server took mine and my husband's food and they are making our plates. At least our kids were eating. Then our food came out and the server said on our turkey dinners, they were out of the dressing. I couldn't believe she was just telling us this. She moved very slow. They have daily specials so go any day and you can enjoy the selection. Save room for pie. They make it fresh and you can get them to go. They have cream and fruit pie selections.
