It's just ok. Not a lot of choices for myself for salad. I ordered a side greens salad with blue cheese and a side of albacore tuna. The tuna was very salty but had nice crunchy celery. About $26 for both sides. Not sure it was worth it. I wanted a chopped salad but then I would have needed to order without the chicken and bacon, just didn't seem like a good idea. Been coming here for years. I always get the mac and cheese. Today, however, I had this nasty bright orange mac and cheese. It was literally NACHO CHEESE. Their California Grille Panini often lacks any substance and all you can taste(if lucky) is their provolone cheese and an artichoke or two. No seasoning, no spinach, no peppers. Their pesto pasta oftentimes also comes up short, with watered down noodles and minimal "pesto" sauce. Even their salads are impossible! Santa Fe ranch minus the chicken? Out of season tomatoes, stale tortilla chips, and "corn salsa" comprised of corn and a jalapeno or two does not make for a filling meal. So why do I return? Am I a glutton for punishment? This place is really slipping... while I do still love their food, we've had pretty regular mishaps with this location- a panini ordered no mayo that was absolutely loaded with it, slow service, inattention to cafe needs, etc. The latest visit was for breakfast over the weekend. We came in around 1030, which is near the end of breakfast service. They told us straight out that they were out of the potatoes but could give me a fruit cup. I was fine with that and the fruit cup was actually really good. We did experience just a little bit long of a wait for food, but once it did finally come out it was hot and fresh. We heard a family near us ask for their money back because they'd been waiting so long. My hubby ordered a hot coffee, which they give you a cup for and you can pick out of 4 types and fill it yourself. They had two unflavored blends, one decaf, and one hazelnut. He tried both of the unflavored blends and they were totally empty. He just said he'd keep an eye for them to refill them, but after 10 minutes and no action, I went up to the counter to let them know. There was a worker in that area cleaning up but they never checked the coffee! Finally after that the coffee was replenished. It was mostly enjoyable until about the last inch of coffee- thats when you realized how much coffee ground was in there. It was a LOT. I definitely won't recommend coming back for breakfast any time soon. :/ read more

Ordered a pasta dish for dine in, paid, was given a table number, and then, was surprised to receive it boxed up for carry out. The cashiers do not typically give the customer the receipt after payment even though the attached tag on the 'takeout' order clearly stated 'dine in'. Good food, horrible service. I had ordered a Mac and cheese with bacon and NO tomato's, first the server had no idea what table he was serving. Then when we finally got our food. They messed it up, they just gave me the Mac n cheese with breadcrumbs, no bacon, no problem so I go back and ask if they can put bacon in it, they bring it back and to my surprise, they fuck it up again!! Went with 8 family members a couple weeks ago, let me tell you there will never be another trip to Corner Bakery. Coffee self-service was cold, staff seemed inconvenienced to get fresh, hot coffee, snatching the cup out of the hand of family member. Berry acai water from fountain was, well, just water. Soups ordered were lukewarm, any pasta dishes were also lukewarm at best. Meatballs that came with pasta could not even but cut they were so hard/tough. A couple items were refunded, but again it seemed like we were inconveniencing staff. There was a nice younger gentleman working there who was very pleasant and apologetic, but he sure was not the norm - Make him the manager! Messages filed online to corporate went unanswered... Just TERRIBLE, explains why the place was empty most of the time we were there. read more

I work in Countryside, so I go to this location for lunch about once per week. When they get the order right, the food is delicious. The majority of the time though, the order is wrong (fair warning). Aside from this, the employees are INCREDIBLY inattentive. You can stand by the pick up line for ten minutes without someone greeting you. Overall: food is a 9 (if order is correct) but their service is a solid 2/10. Hope this helps! read more

I decided to order in for my wife and I this Wednesday afternoon. She has been having really bad cramps and has been craving a grilled cheese and tomato soup. I discovered Corner Bakery from a random search and it was probably one of the best searches I've ever made in my life. The items we selected were made to perfection and were definitely made with love and passion (will describe each individual dish in photos) and was well worth a 5 stars for us. They are sometimes busy sometimes slow. I've seen the current manager a few times during my visit. She is helpful and friendly. I appreciate that she doesn't seem to have an "it's not my job", ego. Yikes. Spongy, wet, cat-food-looking chicken does not a gourmet sandwich make. We stopped in for 2 sammies and a pasta dish to-go and were not happy with what we ordered at all. I ordered the Chicken Pesto on Ciabatta Ficelle. It doesn't have much on it so I asked them to add white cheddar and onion. I could only eat half. It's a large sandwich, but honestly the meat on it was revolting. The menu says all-natural roasted chicken and I was really looking forward to something delicious, but it was blah. He had the Poblano Fresco on Poblano Cheese Bread with roast beef and said it was just "meh." We later split the pasta dish and were disappointed. I get that it's a cafe but the sauce was icky and the portion was small. It came with something they wanted to call garlic bread. More like barely garlic piece of cardboard. Pic to prove it - just take a look. We spent over $22 for the food and were completely let down. We both commented that we had wished we'd gone to Panera and/or Noodles instead. Corner Bakery has two of my favorite salads: the Santa Fe and the Chopped Salad. When I'm downtown or near one in the burbs...I try to stop in and grab one. The creamy avocado ranch and the sweet and spicy vinaigrette dressing take it up about ten notches! Customer service at this location is always pleasant and the pastries are fresh. The chocolate muffin is the truth! The locations downtown make them half price after 12, this location states they aren't marked down until the evening so be forewarned. read more

The oatmeal is amazing. Brown sugar, walnuts, almond slices, dried cranberries make for a delicious breakfast experience.

In the last few months I have visited the location 3-5 times. Every time there was a problem: long wait (no crowds inside obviously), cold food, dishes missing ingredients. Today was my last visit. Waited 16 mins for Anaheim Panini. Got semi-warm bread with cold egg mixture inside. Returned it, did it wait for any replacement. Done. Recommend that Corner Bakery transitions to a carry out only. I used to go to Corner Bakery all the time and loved it. But, unfortunately my last few visits were extremely disappointing. First, the restaurant is always a complete mess. Last time there were countless tables that were not cleaned from previous customers, dirty plates and spills all over. On top of the uncleanliness, our food took forever to be served. I'm a loyal costumer at corner bakery and often dine in but once in a while order for pickup. I always order the same chicken pesto with avocado. But When I picked up my order today there was the smallest slice of avocado on both sandwiches smaller then my pinkey. I'm not just paying extra that. I love me some soup, pastries and coffee. So, this should be such a great place to visit. I make a stop here at least once a month, but today is my last visit. This place has filthy bathrooms, their coffee creamer carafes have day old milk all over the spouts, the dining room floor Is filthy, and there are always people standing behind the counter, with tons of time to be cleaning. The service is typically fast, and they are friendly. But, they are always out of 1 or more soups during dinner. Makes me sad, because it is the perfect location with the perfect menu. Kudos to the Manager and everyone else who made this possible. I ordered the Apple and Walnut pancakes with the side order of bacon and eggs. When I got home I realized they forgot the bacon and eggs. I called the store and spoke with the manager and told her I would pick it up the next morning after work. I called that morning to remind them about picking up my missing order but also wanted to add some potatoes which I would pay separately. Got to the store and they had my order ready and handed me my bag. I told them I still had to pay for my potatoes but they said don't worry about it...they even had an order of pancakes too. A small mistake is paid back 200%...that is called exceptional customer service. Thank you to everyone at that store!!! read more

Huge ASS parking lot in the back. It shares it with Trader Joe's so be on the look-out for busy La Grange moms with 4 kids in tow and their out of control shopping cart. If you park on the very North side of the lot, you'll avoid some of the madness It's CB so we all know the menu and ordering process. I still find the ordering process of CB and Panera to be annoying. Either have waitstaff or not but don't try to do it half-way. I think CB's menu and food is a notch above Panera. The employees at this store are incredibly friendly. Service was quick and I also saw the manager walking the dining area and making right if he was something askew. Love their bread. Don't get the the soup in a bread bowl, you get less soup than if you get it in regular bowl. Their mac and cheese is way better than Panera's version which is not even fit for a child. Just had dinner there with my grandchildren. Busy dinner hour and there was only one person taking orders, one filling orders and delivering to tables. Service was slow and terrible. Two of our 3 orders were delivered together and had to wait 10 minutes for 3rd one to be delivered. Also, the place is filthy ....booths, windows , floors etc. Also bathrooms were gross. On a positive note the food is fairly decent. I would possibly carry out in the future BUT definitely not eat there. read more

Well unfortunately they blew it. I ordered two orders of the chicken carbonara pasta. It is supposed to come with bacon but had none. Zero bacon. So you know what you're left with? A bland chicken alfredo. Tasteless. Who forgets the bacon in a carbonara? Will not go back there. read more

I'm surprised by the low ratings for Corner Bakery Cafe in LaGrange. I have lunch there at least 2X per month and have never been dissatisfied. No errors with orders, tables clean 95% of the time (a pet peeve for me and a complaint I have about Panera), manager often checking to see if all is well, hot food delivered hot and cold food cold, free wi-fi with no "rules" about limited time during peak hours. One of my favorite things about Corner Bakery is that they continuously improve their offerings with FREQUENT new menu selections and increasingly healthy options. Within the past several months, they've added calorie counts to their printed menu and many low-calorie/low carb/low fat suggestions. As a perpetual dieter, this is a big plus for me. (And, as you might guess, I'm not a big bakery eater, but my husband tells me their lemon square is killer.) I don't give out 5 stars casually, and CBC is by no means perfect; but I think it's the best in its category (bakery cafe/coffee). I agree that prices could be a bit lower, but I think Panera is actually higher (when you consider what you get for the $$); and ALL the lower-priced restaurants I visit have raised their prices recently, either out of necessity or competitive "license." read more

Corner Bakery in La Grange is a pretty good place for breakfast; I eat there pretty often. I usually get the Anaheim Scrambler, hot oatmeal, and almost always coffee. I like CB's Creamy Hazelnut roast, and they have lots of Splenda. I'm a big coffee drinker when I eat out at breakfast places, and it's funny how diverse the selection of sweeteners can be. Some places are stingy with their Splenda with maybe 2 packets per table if they have it at all. Corner Bakery has a coffee bar, so you can get as much as you want. I've had mostly good service here. There have only been a couple times that I had a rude cashier, and I don't think he works there any longer. He never seemed to get special orders right. And I usually get some changes to the standard order. For example, I usually order the Anaheim scrambler with egg whites (yes they surprisingly offer an egg-whites only option); no cheese, and fruit instead of potatoes. I also use their free Wi-Fi quite a bit. I have breakfast, then work on a project and end up staying so long and drinking so much coffee that my eyes are jumping out of my head. I've only eaten lunch at Corner Bakery a couple times. I think I've only had the Chopped Salad, which is excellent, but beware, because it's huge, and something around 700-800 calories, although most everything in it is pretty good for you. Right down the street, Panera Break (La Grange Park) also has free wi-fi, although I don't like their coffee as well, but I like their outdoor seating better than Corner Bakery's. read more

I brought my husband here for an early Father's Day breakfast. We both had the Commuter Breakfast Croissant. We were able to order quickly, served promptly, and the Manager made the rounds checking to see how the tables were enjoying their meals. We really enjoyed the sandwich with fresh tomatoes. Something to defiantly keep on the back burner of ideas for a peaceful Sunday morning breakfast. I must say it was a highly enjoyable breakfast for two. A trip we will make again. read more

Cold breakfast eggs and potatoes even though the kitchen was not busy at all look for better place

I have been coming to this location for the 15 years I've lived in the area. Since some time ago, let's say about a year, my take out orders would usually have a problem. The last few months, every. single. time. And I visit around once a week. Sure, they're nice about it. Give you an extra, don't charge for something... Last week I received $15.00 in coupons when they missed one of my dishes. Today I went back, used those coupons, but got everything out of the bag before leaving and reviewed. Sure enough, the eggs for my pancakes were missing. I waited overall 22 minutes for those eggs! At some point, I asked Nancy: Are there any eggs in this Restaurant at all? Since one of the cooks was in the back chatting with the manager and I HAD BEEN WAITING SO LONG. She said to me loudly DON'T YELL AT ME! I responded: yell? I just asked you a question. She called the manager again, finally they had the eggs ready. I told the Manager it took 22 minutes to get the eggs: Yes, sorry. And I only got them because I took everything out of the bag and saw they were missing: Yes, sorry, it was a mistake (!). To be clear, at this point, I don't care that they're nice about it. I rather they just GET MY ORDER RIGHT. I know we all make mistakes, but EVERY ORDER??? To top it all off, I walked out at the same time as Nancy. She was mumbling and looking at me. I asked are you talking to me? She said you should not talk to people like THAT. I asked like what? I just asked you a question. You mess up my order every single time and YOU'RE upset? She said me, me? I answered of course not you personally. The restaurant... Forget it. I walked to my car, she kept mumbling. Long story, this is good bye to Corner Bakery for me.
