Coming here always feels like when your mom or dad (or aunt) would pull you out of school and say you were sick, just to then have an unmatched day of fun. Maybe it's because diners of this style are so few and far between these days - don't get me wrong, there are plenty of independent breakfast/brunch joints out there, but even so, they all start to feel like different shades of the same color after a while - the same multipage menus, the same décor, the same feeling going there. But the power of the counter and stools, of lovely low booths, of being able to see and smell what's on the griddle, these are the constituent parts that immediately start to add to your experience, like a pat of butter slowly melting and seeping in. And sure, you might be looking at another multipage menu, but here it feels a little more "just for you." Portions are always plenty hearty, and everything comes out quickly.

Tiny place in La Grange. We got lucky and found parking right outside. Otherwise, it could be a good walk if you don't find anything close. Their cherry filled fresh toast is good. The sausage patties are so so. Our server wasn't real friendly, very closed off. A couple things to note for improvement, add a mirror in the bathroom and make sure Clover works. When you get your bill, there's a QR code to pay via Clover, but I couldn't get it to walk. It kept saying page not found.

Great Location for a breakfast cafe, directly across the LaGrange Metra Station. Originally I was looking for a different breakfast place but made a wrong turn and spotted the this breakfast cafe which I am glad I stumbled here. The menu is vast and ended up getting my favorite biscuit and gravy. There is a black board in the back showing you the soup selection of the day which is nice. The Food was very good and fresh. The service was impecable too. She came by to check on us numerous times to see if we needed anything else. Highly recommend and will be back for more breakfast delights.

I've come past many times, it can be very busy. The food tasted great! I had the spinach, onion and feta cheese omelette that came with a choice of either toast or pancakes. I got the pancakes, also included hash browns. The service was fast and friendly! It looks small on the inside, but actually fits quite a bit of diners. They have outdoor seating too.

Service was very good. Cute place. Portions were a good size food was great. Coffee was very good.

Nice little dinner located off the main strip of town. I had the corned beef skillet and it was filled with fresh ingredients! It also came with pancakes, which were the perfect companion. Everything was delicious and the service was great. I'll be back soon!

    Brown Avocado Toast W/Spinach

Absolutely not recommending this place to anyone. We ordered takeout and both the food and service were dismal. They forgot half of an order and when called to get a refund they said they "couldn't offer partial refunds". In addition, the avocado toast was truly brown, not oxidized, but brown.

But for a premium price, I expect premium product, and this place is rough around the edges in ways that feel easy to fix. I'm pointing them out in hopes they'll be corrected. First the positive - the food was pretty good. Not great for the price, but pretty good. Drip coffee was better than most diners/cafes in the area. The ambience was pleasant. Here's the issues. 1. The furniture needs a refresh and I don't think the place has even been open that long. The side tables by the window are losing their finish - a fragment of wood got caught under my finger nail as I was sitting down and just lightly grazed the table with my hand. I also brushed away a few additional flakes coming up. The chiffon curtains are charming until you look closer and see they're speckled with food from past diners. A moss ball decoration in the bathroom is missing half its moss. It's little stuff, obviously, but when I spot things like this at a place otherwise charging a premium partially for cute aesthetics, I always get concerned that the lack of attention to detail might also be getting reflected in the food. 2. Value for money and food quality are also an issue. $20 for one slice of sourdough cut in half, a rather overdone French omelette with sour cream on top (not mentioned on the menu and a weird choice) a bowl of fruit I wasn't interested in rather than a choice of free side, and sausages I paid extra for, is not good value to me. The bread was good! The omelette was mediocre. The sausage was very solid, had a slight funk to it that I liked and suggested to me it was made in house - but 7 dollars for two sausage patties is absolutely wild. I would suggest Milkstop rethink the combos on its menu to include more and be priced a touch more transparently. 3. Finally, service. Everyone was VERY KIND, again, want to stress that, but service was slow and rather inattentive for most of the meal. The place was only half full, but water and an initial drink order were slow, and I waited for a while for the check while the staff chatted amongst themselves in the corner of the room. Not trying to be a dick, the life of a service worker is tough, but the place was mostly empty and I noticed they already charge a 3% service gratuity on your orders, so I'd expect a little better. Basically this place has a very charming surface with some wonkiness around the edges. I will definitely come back again but guys, come on - ditch the gross chiffon curtains, for both our sakes.

We ended up back at our home and called Bill's Place, explained our situation, and without hesitation they told us they could accommodate a catering order for pickup. They even offered a discount on the catering to help us during such a difficult day. The food was excellent and exactly what we were hoping for, but what truly stood out was the compassion and kindness they showed our family. They didn't just prepare a meal--they helped bring our family together when we needed it most. What made it even more meaningful is that Bill's Place was our grandma's favorite. Even before she became sick, if she wanted a burger, this is where she wanted to go. Being able to gather around food from one of her favorite places, sharing stories and celebrating her life in our home, was a full-circle moment that none of us will ever forget. Bill's Place understood what hospitality truly means. They listened, they cared, and they stepped up when our family needed it most. We will continue to support Bill's Place and are incredibly grateful for everything they did for us. Thank you for turning a heartbreaking day into one filled with kindness and compassion.

We sat outside and the menu looks like it has a lot of options. We ordered a couple drinks - a beer that wasn't anything special and a martini that had shimmer in it. I took one sip and never sipped it again. We ordered cheese curds and a burger which came out in 5 minutes after we ordered which was odd. Felt more like a fast food joint. The cheese curds were heavy and greasy and the burger was pretty good. 1 appetizer, a burger, 2 drinks cost us $67, kind of wild in my opinion. Our server seemed like she wanted us gone too as it was the end of the night. Disappointing experience, don't plan on returning.

Posto 31 is located in Lagrange Park which is just slightly outside and west of the city. Their restaurant week deal is $45 per person for dinner and every adult in the party is required to participate. We tried the following: 1) Pork belly with a brown butter sweet potato mash and apple slaw - This was a delicious and refreshing appetizer. The fat isn't excessive and there is a good sear with the pork belly. I think it was different in a sense that it didn't exactly go with the Italian theme. 2) Arancini with chicken, parmesan, mozzarella, and marinara. This is the standard fare and you can't go wrong with this selection. 3) Faroe Island salmon with squash puree and Brussel sprout slaw. The salmon was well executed and I loved how it was paired with the slaw. 4) Arrabbiata with squid ink linguini and jumbo shrimp. This was the star of the night and what drew our attention when we first reviewed the restaurant week menu. It is rare to find squid ink linguini in the city and neighboring suburbs. The portion was huge and the flavors were absolutely delicious. We are already planning a return to order this again. 5) Tiramisu was the standard fare and once again, the portion was huge. We demolished it though. 6) Cookie skillet had a square of chocolate chip cookie topped with candied pretzels, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. We did not get to try it because our girls just took it to town. So needless to say, it was thoroughly enjoyed. We also ordered the kids' an eight inch pepperoni pizza. It was more than enough for our two girls to share.
