There is an older gentleman who walks around to make sure your coffee cup is full. Breakfast and lunch served all day until 3pm, closed on Mondays. Great place for families with children too. Love the remodel with exposed bricks, bar seating, and new decor. The diner is on the small side, but don't let that detour you from waiting. It's worth the wait! I ordered the skirt steak medium rare and it's was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Flavorful, tender and juicy! Hash browns were extra crispy and the grilled onion enhanced the flavors. The pancake and ham sandwich was as big as your head! Country fried steak was filling and topped with delicious gravy and cheesy hash browns. The chilaquiles was some of the best I had. A bit spicy, but the homemade salsa verde was delicious! We've ordered many different entrees from the menu before and they were not disappointing. OUTSTANDING! This us a hidden gem. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming without being over the top eclectic. The food is fast and fresh. I had the Mexican omelet, I devoured it, great flavor, generous portions. My wife had the spinach omelet, she loved it. The coffee is also really good, not bitter or overly bold but a perfect mellow sip...I only drink it black and it definitely stands out like one the better cups I've had. So here I am, back for my third breakfast! I get my favorite breakfast. Denver omelette, side of sausage patties, and I'm blown away. Omelet takes up half the plate and is quite the site to behold. The rest of the plate is covered in hash browns. The patties ( not 2 but 3 ) are done almost perfect. Not overcooked hockey pucks, but I think could have come off the grill a minute earlier. To drink, small orange juice and endless coffee. I almost forgot the toasted and buttered bagel. My only beef, and I don't get out enough and I'm old. Was the price, $28 and $6 tip. Happened to be in the area and craving pancakes so I stopped by. This is a simple diner, but the food is really good! Nothing is over the top, but it's a quiet place for a nice breakfast. My avocado-bacon-mushroom scrambler was delicious! I actually finished all the eggs. The hash browns below were barely cooked so I left those, but the eggs were so good, I didn't even care. Tim, who is in town for The Weekend found this place for brunch before we visited Brookfield Zoo. The restaurant is very close to the Zoo. When we arrived around 11:30am it was fairly full. Staff combined two small tables for our party of four. Pepsi products are served. Hubby ordered biscuits and gravy; Tim and I both had omelettes; I had a Denver and Tim the Greek. Portions were large. I particularly liked Belgian Waffles as a side option; another was a crepe in addition to pancakes and fruit. Overall, I think this place was a good find. Great food and such a cute cafe! The cafe has been remodeled since I came here last and it looks great! The server came to drop off waters and our menus as we got seated. We wanted to order a skirt steak with eggs and a steak skillet and were so bummed out they ran out by the time we were there in the afternoon. We ordered alternative options for our entree and I ordered the corned beef hash skillet. The skillet came out right away and super fresh! We ordered some breakfast items and when I arrived and was told the total I couldn't believe how high the bill was for just breakfast. I know there's inflation going on but come on already. Mary's Morning Mixup that is located right by them has cheaper prices and the quality of the food is 10X better. For example the Cinnamon French toast, absolutely brutal here compared to Mary's Cinnamon French toast. Oh and also they charge a 7.5% fee for carryout. Classic diner, with booths, tables and stools at the bar. Expansive menu (pancakes, crepes, French toast, omelette, sandwiches...). Pancakes are so great. Fluffy, warm, just the right amount of 'crisp' letting you know they are hot off the grill. Portions are very large. Fruit is fresh. Check out the specials board - it changes regularly. Some might find it on the more expensive side for a diner - but it's less than others in the area. The coffee is AHmazing. And it's run by a family for the past 13 years (really - the mom is in front, and her 3 things are around). Very conscientious, quick, etc. It's clear there are a ton of regulars that come in. We visited here after a Yelp search. It is a very nice, little local place and I think it's family run. Everybody was very nice and not in a fake 'I have to be here but don't want to' kinda way, service was on point. I ordered the skirt steak skillet cooked med rare and it was delicious, everything was fresh and whatever you do you have to go with the French toast on the side, so light and delicious it was all my daughter wanted to eat... or maybe it was the powdered sugar on top , we'll never know I guess lol Overall I highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. read more

Let me tell you why I do like Broadway Pancake House: 1. It's local, in the heart of one of Brookfield's 2 downtowns 2. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating 3. The prices are very reasonable and you get a lot of food for what you pay 4. You never have to wait in a line to get a table and there is privacy wherever you do choose to sit 5. It isn't an overrated and over glorified breakfast establishment that prides itself with having eggs on the ceiling. To the point, I like it. I'm definitely not a breakfast person, but a taste of my children's pancakes had me wanting more. They had the bacon and cheddar omelette with hash browns and pancakes. All for $7.75, and it was enough for all 3 to split. I went with a cheddar grilled cheese that gave me a choice of fries, onion rings, fried mushrooms, or chips. It also allows for either a side salad or cup of soup. I love options! I went with their daily special of cream of chicken and rice which came with a roll and crackers. This was given to my youngest since she loves soup and it isn't vegetarian. The roll could have been fresher, but a well rounded meal for the low, low price of $5.75. The husband had the Ole omelette with hash browns and pancakes and he loved it! The waitress was so very kind with being sure to bring out extra crackers for the children, salsa for my husband's omelette, and ranch dressing for my fresh, fried mushrooms. We don't do breakfast much, as I prefer to cook for the most important meal of the day. However, Broadway Pancake House is totally worth deviating from the daily grind! read more

When you're planning a birthday party for an adult, one of the most difficult tasks is finding a good spot for the celebration. We wanted a place that was big enough to hold everyone, was quiet enough that we could all easily talk with each other, and was affordable. It turned out that the Broadway Pancake House was the perfect place. The nice folks here re-arranged booths and tables so we had one large space where people could sit and easily talk with each other. They helped set up the decorations, and also helped connect a laptop to their television so everyone could see a video I'd made for the birthday girl. During the party, they kept everyone supplied with soft drinks, coffee, and tea. We brought in desserts, and they provided the place settings. If we'd been interested in a meal, they would have provided that too. Best of all, they took care of all the cleanup. The downsides? For our party, there were only two. First, they don't have a liquor license, so "adult" beverages are BYOB. And second, in order to have the place to ourselves, our party couldn't start until after they'd closed ( we decided to start at 8 PM, so this ended up being a non-issue ). For those who haven't yet eaten here, the Broadway Pancake House is a small, family run restaurant that provides very good food and great service at reasonable prices. It is one of our "go to" places for breakfast and lunch (as I write this, they close at 3, so dinner is not an option). We've been eating breakfast and lunch here for years, and this will now be the first place we contact any time we plan a party or an event. read more

Like most diners, it follows the mantra: Big Portions, Mediocre Flavor. I was pretty hungry and wanted to try a variety of things. I ordered crepes with cherries and peaches. And I got a croissant sandwich with bacon and sausage. The crepes themselves had a good texture. The fruits were straight from a can. The sandwich was satisfying, but it doesn't strive for excellence. The sausage is better than the bacon IMO. The croissant does have a nice texture though. I may be critical of this place, but I was expecting something better than food truck distributed food. This establishment is definitely for families and seniors who want a hearty breakfast. We came here after a cold, snowy run, ready for a good breakfast. The shop is small, with a counter, booths, and a few tables. The table situation was a little cramped- my friend sat across from me but kept bumping chairs with the lady behind her, so had to switch sides. They had SO SO many options to choose for breakfast- skillets, burritos, omelette, seasonal pancakes.... I was in the mood for an omelette with bacon and avocado, and they happen to have just that. $7.50 got me a huge omelette, loaded with avocado and bacon, hash browns, and a side of pancakes (also you can get toast or potato pancakes). I had to take half home!! AWESOME. Food came out as soon as it was done and was steaming hot. Unfortunately, the good service ended there. I ran out of water halfway through eating but was never able to get attention for a refill. It took a long time after we were done eating to get someone to get us a box. That person didn't return, so then we had to ask someone else. When we went up to pay the bill, there was no one at the register either. It is a smaller operation, trying to do many things, but we could see they weren't totally managing time well also (rearranging items, etc, while we waited). TLDR: Average Biscuits and Gravy, skip the bacon, very friendly service. This small breakfast spot has a great long lunch counter, which is very classic diner. I liked the decor and the staff was super friendly and did a great job keeping the coffee filled. The cups were on the small side which made that quite the task. I had BnG and it was fairly average. The biscuits were the pre-made ones, and the gravy, while plentiful was also about average. I also got 2 eggs over easy, they serve double yolk eggs here and they were cooked just right. It is a bit more yolk that my heart really needs though. I also had the side of bacon, which was smaller pieces of bacon, but they were cooked pretty well. The service was super friendly, and I will come back to try the pancakes. I am guessing that I just picked the wrong thing. Again, nothing bad, just nothing great, other than the service. read more

After a long Saturday of drinking and very little sleep on my part, I brought a friend (who had been out to the suburbs just once in the almost 10 years he's lived here) to a small local spot for breakfast before driving him back to the rich vibrant world of Chicago. The restaurant is located on one of the off-shoots of eight corners and is really only accessible by car or a decent walk from the Metra line. From the outside it has that small town America look to it, which works since this whole street is comprised of mostly older store fronts stacked up against one another. I had been here one other time and they didn't mind that we brought our coffee mugs outside to have a cigarette, which just confirms that local small-town feel. Upon entering there is a small counter with stools on the right and a row of maybe a dozen booths on the left. When we arrived there were only a few other groups there so we seated ourselves at one of the available booths. The waitress was prompt with water and menus and we set about deciding on our meal. The coffee was fresh, which I appreciated, and the place was nice and clean which is another bonus. As we were waiting to be served the place started to fill up and by the time our food was served the waitress seemed pretty stressed out. She forgot my milk, which happens to me a lot (I know I'm a grown up and most grownups don't order milk with their breakfast, but it's my thing damn it!), but, when I asked for it she was quite prompt in delivering it, if not overjoyed at the prospect of getting it. I ordered French toast, side of bacon, and a large milk. My companion ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs florentine with a side of hash browns. He found the food to be delish and demolished his entire meal. However, having worked in the service industry, he agreed that the service was weak. A quriky little side note, as we were eating apparently a Ringo Starr look-a-like walked in. I missed him but my companion seemed quite amused/fascinated by him. Nice pleasant little local breakfast place in an out of the way area. The restaurant itself is located on one of the spokes off the center of the old "eight corners" area. Building itself is rather modest and you kind of have to be looking for it. Inside of the restaurant is somewhat on the small side and narrow. Along one side of the wall, about a dozen booths, along the other side is a counter section with about 15 seats. Menu is a no frills, basic breakfast and lunch type. They got pancakes, french toast, omlettes, burgers, blue plate specials and so on. I ordered eggs and pancakes and my Friend got the french toast with bacon. Both of us had coffee, cups were kept hot and full. Meals were satisfying, nothing great, nothing bad. Like I said, basic breakfast. Tab was pretty low for what we got, about 15 bucks for two breakfasts and coffee. Apparently this restaurant is run by two young ladies that are new in the business. Service can be a bit dicey but these people aim to please. Nice part is that this place isn't noisy or over crowded so you can have a nice relaxing meal.
