On the fourth day of the conference/workshop that I attended, on a Thursday morning, Egg Harbor Café was catered in for breakfast! I was pretty excited about getting breakfast from this restaurant with all of the positive reviews on Yelp! The breakfast had arrived around 8:30 A.M. Thursday morning. The breakfast options that we had catered in the order was the following -Scrambled Eggs -Potatoes -Bacon -Sausage -Fruit -Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes The first item I ended up going for was the Cinnamon Swirl pancakes. It was delicious! I ended up going back for another pancake! The bacon was yummy too! On the second pancake, I did add some fruit on top with the maple syrup. I didn't get a chance to try out the sausage or potatoes, but my other colleagues at the workshop/conference did enjoy them! Next time I'm in Chicago, if I get a chance to eat out for breakfast, I'll have to go inside Egg Harbor Café! read more

Stopped here after the 4 on the 4th race and was pleasantly surprised! All of the staff were so kind and personable. Very kind people working here. Our server was great, very attentive, and she checked on us frequently which I appreciated. The restaurant was super cozy and homey feeling. The food was delicious! The shredded potatoes were to die for. I think they were the best shredded potatoes I've had at a breakfast place, honestly. We also got the avocado toast, waffles, bacon, and harbor potatoes. All very good! We picked a random breakfast place to go to, and now I can't wait to try the one in the city! Definitely has been added to my list of spots to go to. read more

Father's Day @ 7:30. Service was just ok. Our server took our drink order (2 coffees and waters), and then disappeared for 5 minutes. Considering there were only a handful of tables, I don't think it should have taken so long. They delivered oat milk for my daughter's coffee, but didn't bring my cream. Another couple of minutes of waiting. Ordered banana bread French toast with sugar free syrup, a custom omelet, and avocado toast. Food came out unbelievably fast. French toast came with a small bottle of pure maple syrup, but without the sugar free syrup. French toast was warm, not hot. Had to wait for sugar free syrup. Omelet was delicious. Avocado toast was very good. There was a $2 charge for the bottle of syrup I did not order. While the server did remove it from the check, I don't understand why the charge was there in the first place. Do they automatically serve this syrup vs regular syrup, and then charge every customer for "fancy" syrup? An ok breakfast experience, but I wouldn't choose Egg Harbor again. Wife's avocado toast was "scrumptious!" by her estimate and the couple with us definitely appreciated the glutenfree menu and subsequent choices! The menu good options especially meat for breakfast including chicken sausage and turkey bacon which isn't very common everywhere. The ambiance pleasant and makes for an inviting experience. My coffee was enjoyable and well balanced... I was very pleased My meal very rich and tasty but the potatoes were a bit hard for me so I did eat many of them. The food came out incredibly fast, in the time it took the waitress to walk away from our table with our orders and washing my hands, I came back and my lukewarm food was already at the table. My food was good but again, room temp. I did enjoy the chunks of brie scattered throughout my scramble. Skip the coffee though. It's not good. My friend and I went for breakfast here the other day. There was no wait and we were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly, offering up her recommendations--which is always helpful. The food was so freaking good. Since it was a special occasion, I ordered a breakfast alcoholic beverage and it was delish! We scored a booth, and that was delightful! There was not wait, and were seated quickly and our food also came pretty quickly. The food was just okay - which is the reason for my three stars. After patronizing this place for over a year, every Sunday after our workout, my husband and I have finally had enough of watching 5 employees standing in the front drinking their iced mocha lattes while we wait to see who might serve us and when. Even the manager is part of this unprofessional gaggle. The food is ok but the service suffers and ultimately, breakfast becomes a struggle to get cream for the coffee or to order at all. Love that they continue to have signs that say to be nice to their staff because of covid when clearly they are overstaffed! We love Egg Harbor and had been regulars pre-covid. We decided to cautiously re-start our post vaccination brunch with the Oak Brook location. We were seated pretty quickly (with wait of 10 mins) - not bad. Got our menus and quickly decided what we wanted as our 2 year old was hungry. Server came for drink orders. we ordered 1 chocolate milk, 1 Orange Juice and my personal favorite.... coffee. To our surprise everything came in a disposable cups. At first I thought, it might be due to covid precautions that they serve beverages in such containers. We looked around and every table had juice glasses and coffee in famous Egg Harbor mug (and NOT a take out cup). Once again, we convinced ourselves that they are getting washed. But 2 parties came after us and guess what... they all were given proper glasses along with WATER upon seating. It's then we realized that we were not even offered water. Did I mention the server forgot to give us straws to drink from disposable cups and kid was getting impatient. After 5 mins the waiter came back to take our food order and thats when we asked for the straws (she apologized) but we had seen enough and didn't want to order anything. We asked for check and waiter was like, its OK its on house. I insisted on paying for beverages. The least I expected was a manager/lead to ask us what happened and what was wrong. But no one asked, they took payment (cashier opted to put 0 tip down) and asked if I wanted a receipt. This feedback is not to get free meals or anything but just to raise a concern. The other part is that our waiter was actually training someone (so doesn't like its a training issue to me). Thinking back on why we never had such prior experience at EHC.. I cannot help but just to assume that we were the only family (of South Asians) in the room and just makes me wonder if we had one of those encounters which I have heard of but never experienced.
