Eggs benedict

This was the breakfast place in the Hyatt. Food was very good. We got the American breakfast and the eggs Benedict. Honestly a very solid brunch place. It's a per order brunch place and not a buffet. Quick service. Very nice seating next to the water.

Salmon salad. Very tasty.

I ate here twice the week I was in town for work. Both times I got the Salmon Salad, both times it was amazing. The salmon is cooked perfectly and the almonds, mangos, strawberries and dressing with the greens was YUM. Healthy(ish) and oh so tasty. The second time I ordered the Creme Brulee, which was perfect. I make this at home a lot and can say I have had very few times when I am out that they make it better than me. This is one of those times. This was the perfect place to eat and the Salad I highly recommend. So if in the area come in for a yummy salad.

Grilled salmon salad and spinach soup

Service is excellent, and there are plenty of great menu items to choose from. With beautiful views of the campus and lake, this restaurant is a good choice for lunch at this hotel. I ordered the grilled salmon salad and spinach soup of the day. The spinach soup was very bland and watery and thus difficult to finish. The salmon salad, however was delicious. I would have liked more veggies on it though. Overall, an average lunch! Give it a try and enjoy the views.

Great choice for breakfast hidden in the Hyatt lodge inside the Hamburger University campus. Setting is on the gorgeous lake that has the Frank Lloyd Wright vibe. Restaurant is counter service and the bring the food to your table. I had the omelet which was excellent. Our order arrived very fast and was correct. Price is reasonable with a great value. Location is A little hidden so look out for the. Hyatt lodge and park in the lot across the street.

Beautiful views, food was good, but it was cafeteria style ordering. Blueberry pancakes were really delicious!

Steakhouses are not really my thing; I can count on my fingers the number of times I've been to one in my life. But Ditka's seemed intriguing because it was just around the corner from my parents' house. I am really glad this is where I saw the game and can concur with other Yelpers. This is not a Bears-themed steakhouse as much as it is a steakhouse with some Ditka art. Don't expect to see wall to wall memorabilia. But what this place does exceptionally well is food and service. The attentiveness was perfect - not obsequious, not absent. I ate lots of different sides and they were all good: the house salad; oven-fired bread; jalapeño hasbrowns; etc. Even though I did not try any of the entrees or steaks, this is clearly a restaurant for people who care about food.

The server explained the crabcakes are made earlier in the day not at order. Suggestion, approach with caution unless you favor ball park mustard in excessive quantities. The chopped coleslaw accompanied the order allowed for an addition insult...a mouthful of diced onion. The service was professional and handled this situation without complaint. Hopefully The management will try a tasting and revise recipes, or caution customers.

Shopping mall chic?…read more If you've spent any time near a mall in the suburbs, there are a few staples you'll inevitably come across, one of them being Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse at 2105 S. Spring Rd. Gibsons has long been known as a go-to for a slightly upscale steakhouse experience in the suburbs. I hadn't been in years, but we were in the area and decided to go somewhere a bit nicer for dinner to celebrate my birthday, so we gave Gibsons another try. One highlight was the complimentary valet service, it was quick, easy, and very efficient. The restaurant was busy with lots of families and celebrations. The interior has a classic, almost mob-era steakhouse vibe, reminiscent of old-school 1930s-40s Italian-American dining rooms. Service was friendly and accommodating throughout the night. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and for my entrée I had a ribeye with a side of potatoes and broccoli. My friend ordered a filet mignon salad. We also shared a side salad. The food was solid overall, but the salads were a bit watery, and the ranch dressing was just okay. The steak was good, but not quite the standout I expected given the price point, ribs are close to $70, so expectations are understandably high. Everything felt consistent, but not particularly memorable. That said, Gibsons does feel very steady and familiar, which may be part of its appeal. It's the kind of place people return to because they know exactly what they're going to get. Even the bread was fine, but nothing really stood out as exceptional. One of the more memorable (and amusing) parts of the experience was the birthday tradition. I still can't fully make out what they're saying during the birthday song, it's loud, a bit barked, and honestly both funny and slightly intimidating. I can't decide if I love it or would be terrified by it as a kid. There was also an interesting moment with dessert, my ice cream was placed in a plastic bag inside a box of ice. Creative, but not exactly elegant. I definitely didn't eat it, but it was memorable in its own way. Overall, if you're looking for a consistent, classic steakhouse experience that leans more familiar than elevated, Gibsons fits that role. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The prices have been increasing like the meter on a cab - remember cab meters? Really Gibby's you need the extra buck and a quarter on the pork chop from last Thursday? I immediately stopped, spit everything out, and searched through the burger where I found a piece of wood. When I showed this to the waitress, she simply said sorry and had no explanation for how it got there. She offered either to speak to a manager or remake the burger, so I chose a remake. They brought out complimentary soup while I waited, and the second burger arrived without any toothpick. However, at the end of the night I was shocked that the waitress did not comp the burger despite the serious safety incident. This could have resulted in dental damage, mouth lacerations, or internal bleeding. The restaurant showed zero accountability or genuine concern for my well being. I used to visit every couple of months in every year, but after this experience I will not be returning. This is completely unacceptable. Also, even the cheese cakes are shrinking and the one I got was half of what it was last year. The place is spiralling into sad state of what used to be a place I really loved to go to.

I went for my friend's birthday dinner, and we left completely satisfied with both the food and drinks. FOOD: We started with the prosciutto board, which was good but nothing especially memorable -- more of a classic charcuterie board. For our entrées, we ordered the lobster roll and the shaved ribeye dip, and both were excellent. I highly recommend them. We ended the night with four desserts, and every single one was delicious, especially the banana split. It wasn't your typical banana split sundae -- the caramelized banana gave it a rich, flavorful twist that made it unique and unforgettable. DRINKS: I started with the Rosé Spritz while everyone else ordered different cocktails. After trying mine, we all loved it so much that we ordered the same drink for the second round. It's not overly strong and has a slightly tart flavor, but it ended up being one of my favorite cocktails ever. I'll definitely order it again. Overall, the aesthetic and ambiance are incredible, though the prices are definitely on the higher side for the portion sizes. Still, it's a great spot for special occasions, celebrations, or a nice night out.

Against my better judgment, I even let them know it was my birthday when I made the reservation. We were seated at probably the worst table in the place: Front corner by the elevator and the bathrooms. I know someone has to sit there, but with the reservation and all...? One thing that is *not* mentioned on the website is that they have no liquor or spirits. Only $20 glasses of wine. My wife doesn't drink wine. This would have been terrific to know ahead of time. Food: charcuterie board was nice, but stingy. Grapes were well past being fresh. Other than that, good meat, good cheese. My steak nowhere near justified the price. No crust on the sear, cooked past my desired medium rare. The potato, despite being served with a cute tiny spoon for the crème fraiche, was just a potato. Not worthy of $14. Wife's burger was good, not great. Fries may have been the best part. It's a pretty room, so I understand why all the "influencers" and "content creators" frequent the place. The staff, in general, were aloof and standoffish. We did not feel particularly welcome; more like we were dining in a club we were not technically members of. Though we did see several desert looking items with candles coming out of the kitchen, we didn't get one (despite the note). I only included it because I figured that, as it was my actual birthday, maybe this place did something really special. Guess I'll never know. If this place had been half the price, I might have felt better about it. But if you are going to charge the prices this places charges, the food and the service need to be damn near perfect, and it just wasn't. I don't see a particular reason to go back .
