My friend and I came here for lunch the other day before our flight home. The hotel connected to this restaurant (Marriott) was nice enough to watch our bags for free while we ate and then walked around the city, which was greatly appreciated. Service was extremely friendly and super quick despite it being busy. I got the crispy chicken sandwich and my friend got a salad. She loved the presentation of her salad (it came stacked in a container that was overturned and then lifted when it got to the table so all of the ingredients were layered in the bowl). She also said it was one of the better salads she's ever had. My crispy chicken sandwich was really good. It came with avocado, a spicy aioli, and a jalapeño cheddar bun. It was perfectly cooked and juicy on the inside. The fries it came with were also good. I highly recommend getting this. Fine little corner bistro in downtown Austin. Connected to the JW Marriott hotel. There is a nice large outdoor seating area. We were there for drinks and some appetizers. Service was excellent, and they have a great cocktail menu. It was fairly crowded and we actually met some really cool people from Spain while we were there. read more

The establishment was incredibly vibrant and busy but that didn't stop our table from being greeted almost immediately. The open kitchen concept was fascinating and food exceeded my expectations for any hotel food! Our server (Lauren) was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu items. Usually when I stay at JW Marriott I enjoy stepping out for dinner, unless I'm not in the mood to walk anywhere, I'll have dinner at the hotel Corner Restaurant. I must say there isn't a bad meal on their menu. The one big shoutout is the Wagyu Burger. Heads up it's 2 patties that melt in your mouth. Corner food and service especially from our waiter, Matt, was five star--all day, any day. He's legit as is the queso, salad, and short rib taquitos. The price point was no problem and we left feeling full but not miserable and in a great head space to finish our day. The only reason for knocking a star off was the hostess (and literally Matt and the food offset her awfullness). We walked in prior to the lunch crowd and I said "please do not seat us next to kitchen." She guided us next to thee closest booth to the kitchen. We declined. My hubby then asked for a certain booth and she ignored him and tried to put us in the windy doorway. By now, I was annoyed and ended up picking our own table which was NOT the one next to the waiter station like where she wanted us to be. Btw, I saw and noted other customers experiencing her same controlling table sitting. I saw them throw down and her rolling her eyes. The last thing I wanted on my first trip to Austin was the hostess police. Corner, your other employees and well-being depend on your hostess being respectful and making your guests feel welcome. I liked it! The restaurant is located inside the JW Marriott, but it has a nice ambiance to it. The lights are dimmed inside, and the space has an open layout to it. There is both outdoor and indoor seating, but I did indoors because of the weather. I was able to get a table right by the window, so I had a great view of the downtown scene. The service was great. Our server was very attentive and made great recommendations. He recommended the skillet cornbread as their most popular appetizer, and it did not disappoint. I'm not a huge fan of cornbread, but I made the exception for this one, and I'm glad I did! It was very fluffy, had bits of zucchini, and was very moist. It was not heavy or dry at all, and it had a bit of sweetness to it. I would give it an 8/10. Next, I had the chipotle honey salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and the mixture of sweet potato, snap peas, and the lime crema was so refreshing. It was also a large portion. My partner had the wagyu burger, which was also cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The fries were shoestring style, and they were a tad crispy, which I liked. Pricing is average for a downtown upscale restaurant. As for parking, there is only garage parking, but it is pricey and not validated by the restaurant. I came here because of their 4.9/5 star rating on Google Reviews, but while I liked the restaurant and food, I would not give it that rating. Nevertheless, I would recommend it for a date night or night out for drinks with friends. 8/10 overall! read more

Swanky place in downtown serving American. Loved the clean vibes, there's also couches outside whenever the weather is good. Outside doesn't really have seating for big groups but can handle the more intimate 2-4 Cornbread was pretty standard. Austin Tea Party was great! My favorite thing. The salmon was tasty, I loved the crispy part which is also where the sauce is the strongest. I'm not the hugest fan of salmon so it's not worth the $30 for me personally but overall it was tasty. Wanted a place to sit with air conditioning on a 95+ degree day. This fit the bill. Well done drinks and friendly service.

Corner was a miss for us. The service was lackadaisical and poorly trained. They don't have frozen margaritas. I asked our waiter if they could make me a margarita straight up. He pointed to two margaritas on the menu. I reiterated that I wanted it straight up and shaken like a martini with regular salt on the rim; not the spicy salt. He served the Corner Marg in an ice filled tumbler with spicy salt. He quickly turned to serve drinks to another table. After a couple of minutes I was able to waved him back. I explained in detail that straight up meant served in a martini glass; shaken not stirred. No ice! He returned moments later. He or the bartender simply poured the drink brought earlier (including the spicy salt that I twice told him that i did not want) into an unremarkable cheap champagne glass. Again, he turned without even asking if he had gotten it right. I looked at it in disbelief. No plain margarita salt on the rim. The red spicy salt was dissolving into the drink before my eyes. Of course this played out in front of the rolling eyes of my guest - Mexico's Ambassador. I took a few deep breaths. I then took a sip. It tasted horrible; not even close to a margarita. That was it. I paid $16 for that embarrassing moment and yes we immediately left. I wish I had the presence of mind to take pictures, but I was diplomatically discrete. BTW - We also had a 6:30 reservation. I arrived at 6:15; my guest at 6:20. We had to wait until 6:40. Of course this a Marriott property and toddlers taken to bars have priority over adults with a reservation. It was an embarrassment all around. The poorly trained staff included the waiter, hostesses, and bar keepers. The guacamole and chips were okay, but the Redfish Ceviche's was a non-starter. read more

Avoid at all costs. Even for Austin standards the service here is the worst. I had a female bartender with brown hair at the indoor bar on March 22, 2025. She couldn't have been more rude and condescending. Rolling her eyes and being upset to be bothered to do the most basic aspects of her job. My friend and surrounding guest were laughing at the gall this woman had. Came to Corner for a nice breakfast/brunch. Love the upscale, modern feel of this place. I could definitely see it being a great date night spot at night for drinks and a nice dinner/apps. For a Sunday morning brunch, it was easy to get a table and wasn't too crowded - the bar outside was the most busy. I started by ordering their Espresso Martini - it's delicious and definitely on the strong side! Was a great way to start my Sunday, but I probably wouldn't drive after trying it. For food I ordered the Avocado Toast with smoked salmon. When I received it, they forgot the avocado which was pretty silly. Luckily our server was extremely sweet and brought it back for a quick swap. I was confused because when it came out with the avocado, it looked like a completely different dish - but it was so delicious I didn't care! We shared some of their biscuits and those are a MUST. Best ones I've had and they were a fun brunch appetizer/side. Everything here with service was great and fast, only downside is that I feel this place is very overpriced for the simplicity of the food. Avocado toast without any protein is already $16, adding the salmon was another $8. read more

We ate at the restaurant five times while we stayed and every time it was stellar. The service, the food, the drinks and the atmosphere were absolutely stellar. The salmon was very flavorful (potentially even too salty which I never say), and the dishes the rest of our party ordered we're tasty as well. I think overall the price to quality ratio was not quite good enough to go back, but what do you expect when this place is smack in the middle of downtown. The Corner Restaurant bar is a 500-square-foot bar space. Seating on all four sides. But if you are not in a certain seating area; bartender(s) miss you for service. You have to walk your space if you are bartending. Constant motion around the bar and looking out is essential. You can't see your guests if you have your back to customers. It annoys the bleep out of me. Once you see this, you will know what I mean. Overall, great location for meeting friends or socializing with co-workers. Outdoor table service. Couches for that lay-back vibe. Well-designed restaurant and bar. You just have to watch out for service (can be slow or ?), and the birds flying through the space. Did someone say, Hitchcock? While enjoying a weekend festival in downtown Austin, we decided to stop in at the Corner restaurant in Austin. It is a great place to stop for a relaxing and enjoyable meal. One of the highlights of this restaurant is the lovely outdoor patio, a cool and shady spot to escape the Texas heat. The Spicy Guacamole. is definitely worth trying. This appetizer is packed with flavor, thanks to the addition of cilantro, lime, charred serrano chili, and habanero. The spiciness of the chili and habanero are balanced out by the creaminess of the avocado, making for a perfect blend of flavors. The guacamole is served with crispy tortilla chips, which provide the perfect crunch to complement the creaminess of the dip and not too salty. If you are a fan of tacos, you must try the Smoked Brisket Tacos. The tacos are made with smoked brisket, and topped with chipotle crema, pickled red onion, and guacamole. The combination of flavors and textures is simply delicious, and the smokiness of the brisket adds an extra layer of depth to the dish. It was so good, but hard to finish all. Our party of four, all ordered the Summer Year Round Marg and it was the perfect choice. Made with Espolòn Reposado tequila, Grand Marnier, watermelon, hibiscus, and lime, this drink is the epitome of summer in a glass. The tequila provides a smooth and slightly smoky base for the cocktail, while the watermelon and hibiscus add a fruity and floral element to the drink. Seating was immediate this night and my table was in a quiet spot even though it was close to the kitchen. This turned out to be to my advantage. I got the half chicken and a cold brew. The kitchen staff were all dressed immaculately and deported themselves so professionally that it was pleasant and entertaining to watch them. My meal had a great presentation and the combination of flavors were great. My waitress gave me just the right amount of attention at regular enough intervals that I lacked nothing. Our favorite joint during our stay in Austin. How much did we love it? We visited three evenings out of a four night stay. The open air atmosphere with the great service, delicious drinks, and good food make this a dining trifecta. The vibe is relaxed- lots of bar and loveseat seating (there are tables too, but we never ventured off the loveseat). The only annoyance was when I saw a few groups with 2 people taking up 2 loveseats- c'mon sit together- more room for everybody. Every drink was tasty. Loved the Bee's Knees and the Corner Marg. The last night we had dinner- the Corner Burger. The French fries were crispy and salty and were a great appetizer or a side with the burger. The candied jalapeño and the blue cheese gave this American wagyu burger amazing juicy flavor. If travels take us back to Austin, we will definitely be back at the Corner! Highly recommend. read more
