My friend & I waited at the bar to take over a couple chairs that were soon to be available (the couple sitting there told us they were about to ask for their check, so we decided to stand by) only to have the bartender come and take a chair away from us, right in front of our face with no explanation to give to a white woman. I'm staying at the JW and the first time I dined here was convenience, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th were because it's great. The waitstaff is very attentive and knowledgeable. I'm a vodka drinker and Matt asked if he could make me something he thought I would like. It was delightful made with ruby red vodka and prosecco. The food is dandy too. Their appetizer shishitos are flash fried and battered and are crave worthy. I loved the blackened fish sandwich. Chicken chili is hearty and good. Our group shard desserts. Had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. Attentive, pleasant, quick service. Wife had the seven layer adobe salad, which tasted very good. Not being too hungry, I just had a toasted bagel and cream cheese. It was all fine. Being attached to the Marriott Hotel, the prices were high for what you get. There's a nice outdoor bar attached. Being there's so many restaurants in the immediate area, I'd probably try someplace else next time. Great outdoor vibe here! I went here with a big group of people and wanted to sit on the outdoor couches for dinner and drinks. We wanted to pull up chairs since the couches only touched two of the sides of the table and the waitress was a little resistant but eventually brought chairs. The chairs for that area are the height of the table which is the only annoying thing since it is uncomfortable to eat like that. However, the food and drinks were delicious. We got the zucchini bread as an app and it was easily enough for our group of 6. I got the corner burger and it was GOOD! Everyone else mentioned their food being great. Stopped here to grab drinks with friends. We sat outdoor, which was nice. I wish I had a better experience though. A group of us sat for a good ten minutes before someone came to greet us. The server was not helpful. We ordered an appetizer along with our drinks and there were no napkins or utensils given. At the end, she came and said, "I can take your card." She wanted to take our payment before presenting us with the bill. Yes, she added gratuity to our group, which is fine but she still did not present the bill to us after. I only had the opportunity to try one appetizer and two of the signature Margaritas but what I had I really liked. The shishito pepper appetizer is excellent and for 9 bucks it's a huge portion that can easily be shared. The Margaritas are a cut above made with fresh juice and premium tequila and are well worth it. Save your time and money and avoid this place. We were given a free starter (guests at the JW Marriott that this restaurant is located inside). On our last night in town we had an early late lunch/early dinner which lead us to want another meal around 9pm. We decided to go downstairs (our free starter cannot be taken to go or through room service). The menu was extremely limited. That being said, the atmosphere seemed nice and I figured the food must be superb with so few menu options. I was wrong. It was awful. Neither of us finished the meals we ordered or the side we added. The 3 dip/chip starter (free) was good but the rest sure cost us a waste of time, money and calories. So not worth it. We had a great 4 days on the town eating all over prior to this. There is sooooo much great food in this city. Didn't leave any other reviews but go anywhere else. read more

It's difficult to put into words how terrible the service was for breakfast, but I'll make an effort, which I can't say the same for the service staff. We arrived at the restaurant and were promptly seated, the service went downhill from there. We had to repeatedly flag down any server to order and be served coffee. It took another 10 min to get the cream we asked for, which I feel like should have been served with the coffee, but I'm not a professional so maybe that's just the way it works. Coffee and cream just weren't on the same page today. I have to say, this service staff has definitely learned the art of not making eye contact and ignoring their patrons, it was a masterful performance. They must have a had a team building event happening today, because the servers spent a lot of time huddled together in what appeared to be a fairly involved meeting. In fairness we did finally get our food ordered, but then we had to get a manager involved to actually get what was ordered, so not sure if that's a pro or con... I'll leave it to you to decide. As to the food itself, it was excellent. Fresh, great taste, pleasant presentation. My complements to the chef. although, I'm finding it hard to leave a proper review on our meal, as I was so completely distracted by the lack luster service. I was there on July 18, a Tuesday evening at about 5:30 (ish). First, the food. It was very, very good. I ordered the Adobo Chicken. Yum. I got the brussells sprouts with it. Also, yum. Unfortunately, the service was a problem. Very few people were there so this is not an excuse. There were menus out front on a menu board. (This is important - I'll come back to it.). I peeked at the menus quickly and saw the chicken. It said the chicken came with polenta, which I don't really like. But I saw that you could get extra sides for either $6 or $7 each, including the sprouts ($7). Also, it said the chicken dish was $17. When I was seated, I was considering the chicken but also the shrimp. I asked my waiter how the shrimp was prepared because it wasn't clear from the menu. His answer? "I don't know. I mean, it's cooked, I guess. Yeah." Seriously? This is your answer? It's cooked? So, I ordered the chicken and said I'd also like a side of the sprouts. He said okay. He came back a few minutes later and said "ma'am, your dish actually comes with the sprouts" as if I had made a mistake. I said "well, that's not what your menu says, but okay, fine." (Since that's what I preferred anyway and I didn't want the polenta.) So, the food came out and it was good. The waiter then began to hover. A lot. Really annoying. Eventually, I finished my food and asked for the check. He brought the check with the following charges: Chicken Abodo: $19.00 Substitution: Sprouts $2.00 Um, what? First, why is the chicken $19 instead of $17 when the menu outside said $17? (I didn't really pay attention to the price on the menu when I sat down because I'd already seen it outside.) Also, why am I being charged for a substitution when he said it actually CAME with the sprouts? So, of course, I called the waiter back over and pointed out these problems. He corrected the substitution thing right away and said he entered that initially before he was told by the kitchen that it was NOT in fact a substitution. But the price thing - 17/19? He was clueless. Turns out - and I figured this out when I left the restaurant and looked again at the menu boards outside - they actually had TWO versions of the menu, both posted outside at the SAME TIME with different versions of the same dish and different prices. One showing the chicken with polenta and one with sprouts. And two different prices. And when I sat down, they gave me the one with the lower price but then charged me the higher price. I have had Braised Short Rib Nachos- incredible and a huge portion, the Roasted Squash & Farro salad (amazing!), and the Jalapeño Honey Mustard Grouper, which is quite possibly one of my favorite dishes in Austin. Went here for lunch on 7/27/18. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the burger. I got a margarita to drink. For the price, I think the only think that was worth it was the size of the meal. I think I could have gotten a similar dish at Chili's or an Applebee's for half the price. Our waitress only came by 4 times during the 45 minutes we were there. Two different times to take our drink and meal order. The third time to ask if our meal was okay. What a pleasant surprise this was! My family and I were looking for parking while out looking for a new restaurant to try and decided to park in the nearby parking lot ... which we soon discovered belonged to the Marriott hotel. We hopped in the elevator, assuming it would take us to the street, only to find ourselves in the Marriott's lobby. We saw Corner on the other end of the lobby and decided to give it a shot. The atmosphere was really nice and surprisingly quiet considering it was Halloween and the World Series was playing all around us. We were seated immediately and the waitress was professional and friendly. The food -- at least MY food -- was pretty incredible. We had two kids in tow, so they had hamburgers and seemed to be pleased with them. My wife had the French dip sandwich and was happy with it. I had the beef barbacoa tacos and was beyond thrilled with the flavor. Would highly recommend. P.S. If you do park in the Marriott's lot, you're getting charged $23 regardless of time spent. read more

I've just moved to Austin about a month ago, and with this restaurant being very close to my job, I have been eating here a lot recently. I have to say, every time I have come, the service has been amazing. When it comes to the food, every single thing I have tried has tasted so good. Also, even when the restaurant seems really busy, the wait time on our food has never been more than 15-20 minutes.
