I tried this place for the first time I'm Waco, and loved it! When I found out it would be opening in Austin I was excited and had to check it out! Fortunately it's on our walking route with our dogs and it makes for a great pit stop. They were busy but we got our bowl within ten minutes. I shared it with one other person and it was actually quite filling. Plenty of outdoor seating at mamaka but also at the park across the street, some inside too. Picked up HUGE and delicious acai bowls from here after a run over the Summer. I ordered at the register and waited for my bowl to be ready. They really put a lot of attention to the variety of ingredients in each bowl. It was amazing watching them build the bowls with so many different ingredients and using blenders and everything so quickly. The bowl itself was really large and was filling for a full meal. I loved mine! I got the mamaka bowl: acai, strawberry, banana, mango, blueberry, almond milk, topped with granola, strawberries, banana and blueberries. I would order it again! My fiance tried a more tropical bowl - I forget which one! Ours tasted totally different, so I loved that there was such a noticeable variety offered. You can also get the bowl as a smoothie. Cute little beach themed acai bowl shop right in downtown. The ceiling fan and the floor feels just like you came off the beach and are looking for something to cool down with. I got the Sunshine bowl for around $10 and although it didn't have too many toppings (just granola, coconut shavings, strawberries, and chocolate chips) compared to other acai bowls, it was super tasty, fresh, and flavorful. I liked that it wasn't super icy cold and I didn't get any brain freeze. I also love the cute top of the hand drawn star on the bowls. My son is a VERY picky eater and had a very long day of baseball and took his 1st nap since he was kindergartener (going into 4th now) he woke up confused and starving and all he wanted was an açaí bowl. I've been to the Houston Mamaka Bowls location and absolutely loved it, so I was ecstatic when I found out Mamaka was opening a location in Austin! I took my boyfriend, who recently discovered his love for acai bowls. Despite the grand opening, the line wasn't very long and they're also super fast. We both got an acai bowl and a latte to share. Both acai bowls were delicious, and I actually think they're reasonably priced compared to other places'. I wouldn't recommend the coffee because it's not what they're known for, but it definitely got the job done. Staff is SO friendly. Have been waiting to find a good açaí place in Austin and I'm so glad I just found out about this one! They are centrally located downtown Austin near Seaholm in a cute little spots between tons of restaurants and shops. The menu is super versatile and you have the option to get any combo as a smoothie if you're not feeling the full bowl. I had the standard Açaí bowl and added peanut butter and it did not disappoint! I wish I would've added extra granola because by the time I reached the bottom is was soupy and granola was all gone BUT it was delicious and I love the whole ingredients used. When I got to the store it was so loud with the blenders going that I could barely hear myself think let alone speak to the child taking my order. I ordered the Babe bowl, the strawberry froth matcha and a cappuccino with an extra shot. First off: the matcha was the worst tasting thing I've ever put in my mouth. The most low quality matcha ever. And the pink froth clearly had red 40 in it as it was so bright there was no way it was natural. The Babe bowl wasn't bad but I've had better in Hawaii. The cappuccino was a 1.5/10. The espresso was burnt tasting, the milk was curdling and the color looked like a loose bowel movement. I would give it a 0 star but I can't so 1 it is. read more
