I hired Copperstate Locks and Security to replace the locks and door nobs for my outside doors 2 months ago. They charged me $2000 up front, non-refundable for the new hardware. 6 weeks later they came out to install the new locks and discovered that several of the locks were defective and others were not what we ordered. After 4 hours of work half my locks were new and half were old. An hour after they left I went through an unlocked door which then locked leaving me trapped outside. I asked them to come back then next day and replace my old locks which they had taken against my wishes. They said they thrown the old locks away away and gave me knock-off locks instead. We had to hire another locksmith to replace the knock-offs and he shared with us that Copperstate had pulled several pins out of the knock-offs to make them easier to key, but a lot less secure. Don't do business with Copperstate Locks, they are amateurs. read more

Another great visit and Jim took great care of me. It'd been over 2 years since I was here, and my GPS took me to another locksmith since I couldn't remember exactly where CopperState was located. While at the other closebye locksmith I had 3 keys cut (2) on OEM Honda keys that worked out. The other key did not fit the ignition and was obviously not cut correctly. I stumbled back into see Jim who remembered me, and he was able to fix the other locksmiths mistake in a heartbeat. Fast, honest, reliable, and overall the best locksmith in town. I recently had an ignition switch fail on a car. This was going to be a very expensive repair at the dealership. I purchased another ignition switch online and thought I would be in business. Then I learned about the immobilizer device. The car would turn over but not start. I went to Copperstate and spoke to Doug. He explained that he could take my new ignition switch and re-key it so my old key would work in my new switch, preventing the immobilizer problem. He did the work in about an hour. Needed a few keys cut so I found this place in my Yelp directory. Friendly prompt service and to top it off I didn't get ripped off for the cutting of some double sided keys. $5 a Key. I spent about 10 minutes and was in and out in great time. read more

I took a key in to be copied. Little Jim did the work for $3. However, he pointed out that the cuts on the key weren't very deep. He said a burglar using a special key could easily manipulate the tumblers and defeat the lock. At his suggestion, I removed the lock from the door and brought it to him. He hoped to re-key it, but the cylinder was old and shot. So he dug out a used cylinder from his collection and re-keyed that. Cost: $10, including two new keys. He did the work while I waited. Little Jim is very pleasant, and he knows his business. You won't do any better! read more

First time I've used this company, and called on Friday to have all the locks in my house re-keyed. I left a message and got a call back within an hour (excellent #1). I was then so pleasantly surprised to find that they could come the next morning, on Saturday yet (excellent #2) ! Showed up right on time, and so very friendly and efficient. Dont make the same mistake I made and let them open your safe in the back room while you wait in the lobby. I brought in a gun safe that I was the only person who had access to. The batteries died and could not get in. They broke it open, but I was not present. When I was given the contents a gun was missing. I insisted a few times it was there, but could not prove it obviously. It was uncomfortable. I left and have looked everywhere for it for 2 months just in case and now convinced it was there and taken. I should have insisted to watch the process and suggest you do as well. read more
